I agree that the G2A itself its a very scummy marketplace. But people that buy something there are looking for price and none of the listed stores (Humble Bundle, GOG and Green Man Gaming) can compete in that front.

Then perhaps it should appeal to their morality and the health of the market place. I mean, I guess I should't expect people to not act selfishly? That's just how I see it. If you buy indie games on G2A. You're being short sighted. Companies like EA? Go for it. They can afford it.

Vits1769d ago

Well, it's a business transaction at the end of the day so both sides will act in self interest. That is the reason why you don't see developers releasing their games for free and why you see consumers buying from where it's cheaper. Also nobody can dictate morality, so appealing to that would most likely not be effective.

The only way that I can see G2A going away. Is if some other marketplace or store appears with even better pricing.

TheMainQuest1769d ago

I see your point. We could debate morality but that would get waaaaaayyyy to heady for the topic, haha.

Yeha g2a sounds looks dodgy and website isn’t great but when I could get £100 iTunes for £62/3 sold lol

People only care about morals when they criticize the epic game store. They have no problem buying games from scummy sites that get keys from stolen credit cards

Reefskye1768d ago (Edited 1768d ago )

And stolen credit cards get reported and the keys get banned, not defending G2A but it happens, G2A don't sell every key, People can sell keys they have on G2A, So if i went to buy 4 physical copies of a game i can take the CD keys and sell them on G2A for a higher price. I know people who have found a retail store selling games for a lot cheaper than normal retail price for them to go and sell them on G2A because they can make a profit, Because its an open Market place though nothing stops someone from stealing a credit card and selling them there, but when the credit card is reported as stolen because most PC games are digital, they are easily traced because it has a digital trail.

Going by these standards though even ebay or amazon are scummy because you get the odd bad apple.

Only time it doesn't work that was is if the stolen credit card goes and buy a ton of physical copies and sells them, retailers don't take copies of CD keys so much harder to track which CD keys have been stolen.

Should people who buy Steam games when their on sale for cheap then go as sell them online not be allowed to do that? is doing that any different from trading in games on consoles? nope in fact the developers still made a sale because someone actually bought the game from steam.

Like i say not defending G2A but, seems to be a lot people really don't understand it either.

Yep they’ve been scum for a while now. I hardly see top youtubers promote them now. They’ve been exposed for a number of years.

Segata1768d ago

Never heard of them and seems that's a good thing

For the first time in a long time I have a hard time feeling excited for these events. Maybe it's because of all these massive lay offs and closures there hasn't exactly been good news since the start of the year.

Maybe come next week I'll get a little more excited but I dunno I just can't get too excited right now

thorstein4h ago

Maybe it will be an indie showcase.

Is it just me or is there little to no buzz or marketing leading up to this compared to previous SGF?
