Rebellion CEO: EGS Exclusivity Was Very Good for Us; Maybe Upsetting a Few People Isn't That Bad

Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley said that going exclusive on the Epic Games Store for Zombie Army 4 was very good in terms of support.

He also added that upsetting a few people with the exclusivity may not be necessarily all bad as it gets extra attention to the game.

It definitely helps with exposure. I've missed a lot of steam releases because they get drowned out by dozens of new games launching every day on the platform.

not sure why that's a problem. just keep informed on release dates of games you're interested in buying. when they launch, you'll know and won't be overwhelmed by the "dozens of new games launching every day on the platform".
on a side note, 365 days in a year and we'll limit it to a single dozen games a day adds up to 4380 games a year.....and you're saying "dozens a day" - so that figure would be much higher. you sure about your figures?

So what does he mean by tons more support in terms of marketing? He talks about discovery and what not, but was pretty vague about it. How is it different with Epic in terms of marketing compared to other platforms/storefronts?

Epic specifically markets the games for them, Steam doesn't.

This is prime example of short term over long term. Sure the i'd imagine miniscule bonus you have of the epic split compared to their user base is probably slightly better than steam overall with their titanic user base and smaller split, but your name is permanently marred and associated with anger. They say no publicity is bad but having yourself permanently associated with negativity crushes you in the long run.

This dude literally and I quote said in May 2 months ago “Our plans do not involve doing anything exclusive like that but I think it’d be dishonest for me to say we would never do it or rule it out. But I think it’s extremely unlikely." He even said he's not a big believer in exclusives.

What a crook. Why should people trust the words they say if they just 180 their decision so quickly? No faith.
