"According to the updated page, Metro Exodus is going to run at 4K Ultra HD on the Xbox One X." - these days, the MS store can't be used to confirm anything tbh. They have "4k UHD" on the site and boxes for Resident evil, for example. A game which we know is 1620p via reconstruction. I'm surprised Trading Standards here in the UK haven't taken them to court as it's a misrepresentation of the product in order to get a jump over the competition via lies on a consumer product.

Neonridr1950d ago

well they don't need a jump over the competition. Regardless of what it runs at, it will look at run the best on the One X, there's no denying that. I agree that they shouldn't list 4K if it's not running at 4K in any mode though. That doesn't make any sense.

Babadook71949d ago (Edited 1949d ago )

I would agree it will likely look the best on x. However, games don’t tend to run better on x than on pro. Going by head to head digital foundry videos; pro is most likely to run it the best. For me, that’s more important than sharpness.

DaDrunkenJester1949d ago

@babadook

Please give references to that claim because that is almost never true.

Gwiz1949d ago

4K is a really loose term,it's not stating to be a native resolution.

Babadook71948d ago (Edited 1948d ago )

@drunken

False

Here’s the latest example.

https://www.eurogamer.net/a...

Other examples include shadow of tomb raider. Monster hunter world. Etc etc.

OpenGL1948d ago

It will look and run best on the PC where it has raytracing support and framerates higher than 30fps.

Neonridr1948d ago

@OpenGL - fair enough, I am strictly speaking in the console space. PC will always look and run the best due to the open nature of the hardware. Consoles are locked ecosystems.

Donnie811948d ago

Every now and then the pro might have a frame here and there but only because it’s running at half the resolution most of the time

Not only do they say 4K but it doesn't even come close. 1440P max without some weird reconstruction technique

ChoochMohony1948d ago

None of my PS4 game boxes does it say 4K anything. All of the PS4 games marking state "Playstation Pro Enchanced" if it even says that. Not only are you incorrect but you are spouting ignorance. Microsoft will post it on the front of the box whether it is Native 4K or Checkboard rendering most of the time.

CaptainCook1948d ago (Edited 1948d ago )

@ChoochMohony Have you seen Sony's advertisement on Television? When using game trailers it says "Play in 4k on PlayStation 4 Pro"

rob-GP1948d ago (Edited 1948d ago )

@CaptainCook - what games have they said that on? Gow and Horizon spring to mind - both were a reconstructed 2160p image - so technically it's correct and it's a 4k image.

Had RE2 been a CB or injected 2160p then I'd see no issue them using the '4k' label as their definition is CB, native or dynamic. Not a great definition, but fair enough. However, it's a reconstructed 1620p - that's the issue. It's not close to a 2160p image, even after reconstruction. So, they're basically flat out lying to the consumers.

I'll believe the Metro count when the final version is out though - I don't doubt it, just saying their store isn't valid as a 'source' these days.

mandingo1948d ago

@rob-GP thats cuz MIcrosoft knows it can run at 2160p but capcom too lazy to put the work in. Parity I guess

Razzer1948d ago

"without some weird reconstruction technique"

Weird reconstruction techniques that Xbox One X has also employed and MS fully endorses for reaching their label of "True 4K".

Neonridr1948d ago

when we use the term 4K we are referring to native. Don't kid yourself with checkerboard or any other technique. You are not getting a true 1:1 pixel representation unless things are rendered natively.

Razzer1947d ago (Edited 1947d ago )

@neon

MS and Sony disagree. And stop this “we” bullshit. You are not “we” anything

It does run in Native 4K on Xbox One X. There are a ton of sources to back it up!

With the update installed, the game will now output at 4K resolution and support HDR on the Xbox One X. According to a comparison video published on the Xbox YouTube channel, it will also have "improved skin tone display through Screen-Space Subsurface Scattering." Check out the video below.

rob-GP1948d ago

"According to a comparison video published on the Xbox YouTube channel" - once again, Xbox are promoting numbers which don't stand up when analysed. DF confirmed it was a reconstruction method which was hidden by the grain filter. '4K' doesn't mean 2160p natively according to MS, they are now touting anything above 1080p as '4K' - which is wrong.

also, yeah, it has increased skin tone and SS effects in areas... in comparison to the Xbox one S version. Yet the Pro and PC versions had this from the start as well albeit at a lower base resolution. However, I was talking about RE2, not 7

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH1949d ago

Definitely will be picking this up on the X.

Razzer1948d ago

Looking forward to playing this on PC.

BehindTheRows1948d ago

Same here, especially with all of the RTX stuff. But then, all of the Metro games truly shine on PC, so that remains the best place to play it!

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH1948d ago

Nice! I bet it’s going to look even better. I’m planning to upgrade my PC this year.

NarutoFox1949d ago (Edited 1949d ago )

Is it in 60fps?

Jin_Sakai1948d ago

Don’t know why they don’t give the option for 1080p 60fps. I’d rather have smooth gameplay and more responsive controls over extra pixels.

Lennoxb631948d ago

Devs usually don't prioritize 60 fps on games where it gives you no gameplay advantage. Slow games like this one don't need 60 fps because you gain no advantage. So they use that bandwidth for graphics.

Jin_Sakai1948d ago (Edited 1948d ago )

“Slow games like this one don't need 60 fps because you gain no advantage. So they use that bandwidth for graphics.”

Then why did they make Metro Redux run at 60fps? Resident Evil 2 Remake is an even slower game and it runs at 60fps.

Prince-Ali1949d ago

i honestly am soooo confused! when the HELL did people start caring about Metro as a franchise looool!?

starchild1949d ago

Uh since the first game. It scored well with reviewers and was pretty popular with gamers. Same thing with the second game, Metro: Last Light.

Personally speaking, Metro Exodus is one of the games I'm most looking forward to this year.

Prince-Ali1948d ago

The first game scored well and was a disappointment in sales to even THQ .. google it... the game sold like 1.5 million on multiple platforms. And Metro Redux selling on the PS4 and Xbox One deep silver announced that the game ALSO sold 1.5 million copies and Deep silver said that it had outsold Metro Last Light in multiple territories so from this we can come up to the realistic assumption it sold anything between 1.5 mil to 2 million which is absolutely NOTHINGGGG to be hyped about the way people are talking about Exodus now!
Plain and simple this game has its audience and that audience is small regardless of how much you guys may try to try argue with me and act like its not the case.. any increase of the games sales would be due to the fact you can LITERALLY BUY the entire games series in the Redux bundle on PSN store for £5 loool... facts!!
If this game wasn't shown off at the Xbox One X reveal event and it be shown off confusingly like an Xbox One X exclusive this games would NOT be getting the hype its receiving even though it certainly does look like a descent game.

annoyedgamer1948d ago

I remember watching a small segment of Metro 2033 on youtube once. Was frightened and intrigued all at once. Went out and bought the PC version right after.

Bluemaster771948d ago

If there was "no care" I doubt they would have made it to a 3rd game...

Prince-Ali1948d ago

Im not saying that literally no one cares about this game series lool.. im saying that the hype for this game for a franchise that by no stretch of the imagination could be seen as a big franchise that's ALWAYS had this hype! the franchise has been on 2 seperate game generations and has had 3 releases and the total sales dont even tough 3 million!? like are you ACTUALLY considering this franchise a cared about franchise!? looool

DrumBeat1948d ago

You don't have to like it personally, but a lot of people care and have cared about this franchise for years. It's excellent.

Prince-Ali1948d ago

i dont care about it personally but im not saying other should stop at all.. im simply commenting on the level of hype this game is getting when this franchise as a whole has NEVER been this level of popularity! And honestly this game would have never received this level of hype if it wasn't for it being announced at the Xbox One X presentation and it being confusingly shown off as manyyyyyyyyy people started assuming its an Xbox One exclusive.. simple as.

Yui_Suzumiya1948d ago

Because it's friggin amazing!

Metro Video Game Series: A Comprehensive History

The Metro video game series started with a humble b-list title, before building a strong fanbase and becoming a pioneer in the industry.

TheBrainZ111d ago

Never got into Exodus, but 2033 was excellent.

kevco33111d ago

Yeah, Exodus just didn't grab me either, sadly.

I absolutely loved 2033 and Last Light, however. Played them both on 360 and then again with the remasters!

anast111d ago

I just started it and it is already miles better than the first 2 which are dated.
