still waiting to see the power of the cloud on Xbox... announced for a console released 5 years ago and rumored to be replaced soon... lmao honestly there might be a case for class action of false advertisement :P

AgeInTheCage2155d ago

They have no ground breaking exclusive like Americas pastime mlb 18 the show franchise to play with friends and family on the 4th of july ONLY ON PS4, so they have to be jealous and spam nonsense articles.

Go bother pathological liar phil for some real exclusives and that cloud tek that was supposed to make all our xboxones 5x stronger without having to shell out 500.00.

lxeasy2155d ago

I doubt it, PS doesn't seem interested in that.

Godmars2902155d ago

Aside from PS NOW which is server based? It just doesn't give access to new titles.

born2live2155d ago

What is that obsession with cloud gaming? I thought we were done with it 5 years ago...

Godmars2902155d ago

It was promised to be a thing by MS, the innovators of the gaming industry.

Nevermind that they can't seem to do more than make shooters, or seem to "come up first" with things that Sony and Nintendo actually did first.

PhoenixUp2155d ago

Cloud gaming will always be an alternative not the primary method

sloth33952155d ago

they all pretty much want to do some streaming because it saves on cost when you dont need to make systems and all of that so more profit thats why they are streaming now to test it all out and work to improve it more but when it comes down to it the gamers will decide if thats what they want or not

MrSec842155d ago

That doesn't make any sense, regardless of where the game's code is processed the cost is the same when it comes to hardware.

You could have 100million users, all needing the next gen hardware and those users all pay for the tech that processes the games they play, users also pay their power costs, so none of the costs to actually run the games or hardware are being handled by you.

You just produce the consoles as demand requires it.

If you move the processing away from the user then latency suffers, you add issues that you can't control to the equation, like network reliability, be it on your end, in-between or at the users end, the latter two are basically out of your control, but it'll be your fault as a company when users are paying to use your services, while they can't even access their games when the service goes down or more commonly latency and overall experience will suck more often than work right.

There is no saving in cost by going the cloud, because you have to maintain everything.

Generally the experience will be the same using local hardware, but the cloud will be pretty unpredictable for gamers.

TheCommentator2155d ago

Cloud enhanced MP gaming is where the tech will shine first. Since MP is already online only, it's sensible for latency independent processes (things which can tolerate the lag) to be handled by the cloud servers while latency dependent functions are still handled by the local console.

Epic know this to be true which is why they bought Cloudgine.

TheCommentator2154d ago

@ disagrees

Man you guys are ignorant. Try educating yourself sometime and you would know that things like physics, lighting, and AI are tolerant of latency in gaming.

MrSec842154d ago

@TheCommentator: Actually only area lights are slow latency tasks, things that players directly interact with will unquestionably require as instant processing as possible, within the frame rate of the game, otherwise everything will look off in the game as things players interact with are rendered at different rates.

You are in fact the one who's ignorant of the facts buddy.

Eidolon2155d ago

I'll say this again. Some system has to be running the game, I want that system. Besides, with 4k HDR, there is no freaking way internet connections could handle even the data rate of a 1080p signal without major compression(1GBit/s can't even handle it, direct device communication will always look and run better.

getbacktogaming2155d ago

imagine VR in 4K with it’s need for zero latency and higher refresh/framerate :P

MrSec842155d ago

I think most people would prefer full 1920x1080 or 1440p in each eye, running at 120FPS, as this would be a a huge step up in both Image Quality and response times.
The overall experience would be much improved over the current standard.

Adding an extra link in the chain, by having to offload code to external servers would certainly screw with the experience of Sony tried using the cloud for next gen VR.
I think even current gen VR would suffer if it relied on VR.

Personally I'm hoping Sony can offer a wireless headset, no doubt a PS5 with an 8 Core 16 Thread Ryzen CPU at 3+GHz, 12+ TFlop Navi GPU and fast GDDR6 memory would be able to handle some gorgeous stuff at 120FPS in VR.
The experience would probably be sublime.

Personally I love my PSVR, it's awesome, but I'd love it more if it was wireless and even more fluid, with better image quality.

Eidolon2155d ago

Sure if the hardware is there, PS5 could offer some incredible VR experiences, if the protocols can handle it, wireless would be a huge bottleneck, though. lol

CDPR say Witcher 4 will be different from Witcher 3: "We don't want to be stuck in the same spot"

The next Witcher game will still be an RPG but players can expect new things as CD Projekt Red want to push boundaries and discover new ways of storytelling.

Terry_B13h ago

Each of the 3 existing Witcher games is pretty different from each other..

Kaii13h ago

My only issue with 3 was with the combat

bRuud831h ago

Combat was never the strongest part of the series.

Profchaos1h ago

I felt 3 was ok took a long for it to click but I tried 2 and I found combat controls to be my biggest barrier to actually enjoying it was about 50 times clunkier than 3

helicoptergirl13h ago

Bethesda seems like a studio that is "stuck in the same spot". Development wise. Glad CDPR are wary of that element in game design.

Hugodastrevas2h ago

This can either go very well or very badly. I hope the latter.

For the first time in a long time I have a hard time feeling excited for these events. Maybe it's because of all these massive lay offs and closures there hasn't exactly been good news since the start of the year.

Maybe come next week I'll get a little more excited but I dunno I just can't get too excited right now

thorstein10h ago

Maybe it will be an indie showcase.

Cacabunga4h ago

Cancelling e3 and introducing some ridiculous events..
Times have changed.. to the worse

Lightning773h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Back then it was very exciting, great looking trailers, on stage live gameplay where yes things can and have went wrong but that's how we knew it was a real games being played instead of curated footage extra doctored up that didn't even represent the actual game half the time. Games would release 6 months to a year max not 3 years later.

I miss past E3's even the goofiness like Giant enemy crab or Riiiidge Raceeer. Xbox and Kinect glitching Nintendo's craziness. Again it was real, these days there so protective, clean, doctored sets, where nothing can absolutely go wrong. Too strict and professional with heavy PR babble with buzzwords that mean nothing. Being professional is not bad but when it's fake and corporate heavy where you're made to buy into the words rather than the game, that's how you know it's not real.

Now SFG is just sizzle reeling all the games at once. Plus past SGF events haven't been that great either. Maybe that's not Geoffs fault but the pubs and devs are simply never ready to show anything and have to wait. This gen we've been waiting and waiting for these games.

Plus lay offs as I Mentioned. I dunno Geoff needs to do what made E3 great back then, get funding support and do live stage gameplay he has the support and so why not? Pubs and devs need to do their own thing at the event again. No more doctored bull crap with PR diarrhea trying to sell the game show us with a controller in your hand instead of making empty promises.

Rant over.

Cacabunga3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Lightning

I will never forget the pre-e3 one year where Kojima was teasing MGS Rising.. and Peace Walker.

Such an incredible period where studios enjoyed what they were doing and teasing their work weeks before the event.

Nowadays is half baked games, cross gen titles, useless mid gen upgrades. There is no hype anymore.
Last great show I remember is the PS EXPERIENCE maybe 3 or 4 years ago in December

gleepot2h ago

Maybe it's because Keighley sucks and never puts on good showcases.

Lightning771h ago

They aren't geoffs games he's not makin it. Though you're half right, he has the stage and events and controls the pace, how the games are shown and presented. If I was him I would have devs have real gameplay with a stage like how E3 used to be.

No more of this curated pre done footage that we've had in the past 4 years.

Actually before that they've been doing that format for awhile. Cyber Punk being the biggest culprit of that format because you can easily deceive and lie to ppl.

Yeah Geoff is half to blame

isarai6h ago

Is it just me or is there little to no buzz or marketing leading up to this compared to previous SGF?

monkey6022h ago

Because they've been consistently boring for the last couple of years. Hard to get worked up for it now

bRuud834h ago

Where is Sony? Still no news about the next Playstation showcase.

VR24h ago

It'll be June sometimes no doubt, I'm guessing the Saturday 10th the day after Xbox showcase or maybe sometime the following week

Lightning771h ago

Hopefully early next week at this point they are signed to SGF so they'll be there.

I also said in another post it's rumored to be a State Of Play now. The only AAA's I can see being announced now is Ghost 2 and Bends New game.

I can't see Santa Monica's New IP or ND New IP being announced. I can see GG being there announcing leggo Horizon, Zero Dawn remake or remaster, maybe the LS horizon game.

Skuletor1h ago

After the way they rudely hurried people off the stage at The Game Awards, I won't bother watching any of the streams for this. I'll just checkout out a few game trailers on Youtube after they're uploaded there.
