It's gonna be darned good looking that's for sure. Just hope it ends up being fun.. I think it will though.

mikeslemonade2339d ago

As if ram coorelated 1:1 with graphics. Watch the video, it doesn't look special.

nitus102339d ago (Edited 2339d ago )

The minimum PC requirements are:

OS: Windows 7 (64bit) with Service Pack 1, Windows 8 (64bit), Windows 10 – Anniversary Update (64bit)
GPU: DirectX 11 Graphics Card with 2GB RAM (4GB strongly recommended)
CPU: Quad Core CPU
RAM: 16GB+
Drive: SSD strongly recommended

Well, that excludes pretty much all the cheaper laptops and desktops which at a guess would be over 80% of all PC's on the market.

BTW. My PC does meet the hardware requirements but I don't run an MS Windows operating system although I can run one (if I feel like it - which I don't) in a virtual machine.

quent2336d ago

I guess 50% of that 80% can slot in a new graphics card or ram and the other half can save up for what they need, they do have time after all

bigmalky2339d ago

I want my money back then. I can't afford an upgrade for a game that I paid for nearly three years ago and can't run when it releases.

narsaku2339d ago

..You kickstarted a game without doing any research about what it is, and now you're complaining because it's too difficult for your personal computer to run now that it's nearing completion?

..Do you not realize how poorly your thinking???

morganfell2339d ago

Maybe you should think. That isn't what he is saying. If the original Kickstarter didn't list exact requirements, did it indicate a mid level system would be able to run the game? 16GB of RAM wasn't midlevel 3 years ago. 8GB of RAM identifies most owners on Steam right now with 53.2% of the gamers.

bigmalky2339d ago

Nope. I expected Squadron 42 to come out a little sooner, you know, because they said it would be? They did not say I would have to upgrade past my budget to play it.

I know exactly what it is I paid for... At that point in time. No need to be a condescending twat.

narsaku2339d ago

@bigmalky

You, "because the world revolves around what you want", without have a single idea about how a game is made, pays to kickstart the development of one, and then complains when it doesn't come out for you, when you want it to?

You should pull yourself out of your own feelings and take a look at what you said instead of calling me names just because I said the truth you don't want to see.

KwietStorm_BLM2339d ago

No, it's you who needs to take another look at what he said, because you clearly didn't comprehend it, then made a lame attempt to belittle him for it. And for what? Is this your game? Ironic af you over there telling someone to come out their feelings.

bigmalky2339d ago

@KwietStorm

It's the typical internet user these days, fella. If you post a comment, they assume you're spitting the dummy or crying for attention just because a large percentage of keyboard jockeys in this generation are.

I've been gaming 30+ years and by god, have gamers got to be so angry, self-righteous and abusive just because there's no repercussions for insulting someone anonymously. Never seen anything like it.

TekoIie2338d ago

@morganfell

Pretty sure we've always been told Star Citizen was going to be high end when it releases...

They've even said they're building it to run on the next generation of GPU's and CPU's. So if you assumed your average machine would run this you were warned and didn't listen.

Spend your money on ram. Not kickstarters.

The 10th Rider2339d ago (Edited 2339d ago )

Hard to have much sympathy for you.

The game was made to push PC hardware to it's limits. 16gb was higher end back then so it's no surprise that years later it requires 16gb of RAM. Unfortunately RAM has gotten significantly more expensive rather than less expensive, but that's hardly their fault.

bigmalky2339d ago

What's with the attitudes tonight?

Did I ask for sympathy? Two to three years ago, I would never have thought minimum/recommended specifications would get so advanced so fast. Is that a crime? I certainly don't think it's a lack of foresight either.

The 10th Rider2339d ago

Well, to start off Kickstarting isn't even purchasing a product. Kickstarting something is an investment. Second off, the project was, as I said, made to push PCs to the limit. Anyone I knew with a high-end PC back when the project started had 16gb of RAM. When we built ours a couple years back we were considering 32gb. Anyone who's built a high-end PC since then would put 16gb of RAM in it. The only reason 16gb of RAM isn't currently the standard for all gaming PCs is because RAM shot up in price. It sucks, but 16gb has been and still is what's been expected in high-end PCs for the past two to three years. Considering the game is built for high-end PC gaming expecting anything else is a bit unusual. Essentially you invested in a product and the requirements are exactly what would have been expected since the beginning, but you're complaining as if you purchased an item that's not what was described.

nitus102339d ago

I purchased 16GB of DDR4 RAM two years ago for my desktop and that same RAM is now 50% dearer. Pretty much every other PC component I originally purchased has dropped in price.

bigmalky2339d ago

@narsaku

You have issues. Did I say the world revolves around what I want?

I paid money for a game I can't play. Simple consumer rights. And what does my knowledge on development have to do with what they said then, and what they're saying now. Morganfell is correct. Most PC users have 8GB average.

I know enough about how PC gaming has progressed
progressed in specifications. The last year, however, as seen a sharp rise in requirements in GPU, CPU, HD/SSD storage and game file sizes and RAM usage.

So yeah, check yourself.

StoneyYoshi2339d ago

@bigmalky

Welp, better get to suing them for false advertisement! But by the time anything progressed with that you'd probably be able to afford to upgrade your PC to play the game you already own.

bigmalky2339d ago

@dontbhatin

Suing? Suing is for the entitled. Hardly worth suing for £50, I'll just ask for the refund thanks.

A lot of over the top people here tonight.

NatFanBoyRestricted2339d ago

If 8 more gigs of RAM is an issue, now I'm wondering what GPU your running.

bigmalky2339d ago

I'm running a GTX 780. Stopped upgrading a couple of years back as GPUs etc. continued to rise to stupid prices. You only need to look at the increases each year to see PC gaming at a mid to high end tier is becoming unreachable for those of us with families and limited incomes.

I used to be able to comfortably upgrade every two to three years, a bit here, a bit there to keep up... It's all gone a bit mad now. PC gaming is much less affordable for some of us who were enthusiasts in this day and age.

I'm so excited for this game.. I'm so sick of these laughably boring interactive hallway movie games.

The 10th Rider2339d ago

IMO the release of Squadron 42 will be when we find out if Star Citizen has potential or if it's all one giant mess. They desperately need to get part 1 out this year and it needs to be fun to play. The graphics are already incredible but the facial animations look a little stiff.

Kyizen2339d ago

I bought this game knowing I would upgrade my PC when it comes out.

😂😂😂 The Roadmap, he says...Here we go again!

Drip. Drip. Drip. Feature Creep.

VenomUK63d ago

This announcement is a roadmap to the new roadmap.

SimpleSlave62d ago

Yeah. Roberts' infatuation with Roadmaps is quite telling; it's clear that this is one of their tactics to drum up support for more money for the eventual "release."

This is at the end of Roberts' roadmap to the new roadmap:
"In a marathon, they say the last mile is the hardest, but to quote the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, 'What we do now echoes in eternity!'"

"You were there for the iconic helmet flip and the opening of the hangar doors for the first time in Alpha 0.8. Together, we explored the vast expanse of the Persistent Universe for the first time in Alpha 2.0, and you were onboard for the inaugural planetary landing in Alpha 3.0. And soon we will be leaving the Stanton System as we venture into the lawless wastelands of the Pyro system in Alpha 4.0 thanks to Server Meshing. And beyond this Star Citizen 1.0 twinkles on the horizon! The future has never been so bright!"

Robert's is back in full Cult Leader mode Bay Bay!! LET'S EFFING GO!!! Daddy needs a new boat. Yeah!

notachance63d ago

is there a roadmap for netflix documentary about the eventual closure?
