lol, the three games that looked awesome on Xbox One X can be played elsewhere without paying $500. What is the point of this thing?

slate912542d ago

Well a cheap alternative to a $1500+ 4k gaming pc.
But the ps pro vs xox is up to the consumer i guess.

2542d ago
CP_Company2542d ago

4k gaming PC does not cost 1500$+,you can do it under 1000$ easily.

slate912542d ago

@CP_Company

Id have to respectfully disagree man. A 1080 (non ti) will set you back at least $500. Then you need to worry about everything else.
Id maybe budge and say $1300 but thats as low as Id go.

Toiletsteak2542d ago

You really don't need to spend that much to get 4k gaming with Xbox One X specs on PC.

MrFisher212542d ago

1500?? Do people even know how to shop around and get deals? Or just post retail prices. C'mon now. I don't even pay full prices for games the day they come out. Stop slacking and get some deals. Not hard.

xtremexx2542d ago

@frdjck I hope you understand that for $10,000 i can get a super computer which makes your GTX 1080 Ti PC obsolete before release. @slate91 literally said its an alternative and you tried to shoot down his argument by justifying it...

joab7772542d ago

It's the games. That's what it comes down to. That and price. When people are making comparisons, they will look at the advantages, and if it's worth spending another $100 to buy the X. As of today, it absolutely is not. And we have yet to see Sony's conference.

b163o12542d ago

LMAO!!!

"lol, the three games that looked awesome on Xbox One X can be played elsewhere without paying $500. What is the point of this thing?"

Spot On, Spot on....

Brazz2542d ago

You can build a 4k pc easy for under $1000. But you know wahat... 4k doesn't mean sh÷■♤=t if you are locked on 30 fps in games that can make 60 fps on pc! I rather build a 1080/60 Pc for 600 than pay 500 for 4k/30 and annual online fee .

Death2542d ago

By all means anyone here building a $1000-$1500 4K gaming PC give us your build and passmark results. I paid $609 for my MSI GTX1080 alone. My MSI MB ran $319 and the i7 7700K was on sale for $299. My Thermaltake PSU was $189, 16 gigs of Corsair Vengeance was $169, and then the Pacific 360 liquid cooling set me back another $500. We still haven't included the P5 case for $139, $200 SSD, 2TB HDD or supplies to build it. I have my system overclocked to an even 5.0Ghz stable which is only possible due to the cooling system. I run Apex at 4K@60fps, but games like Arkham are in the mid 30's. This build is considered a 4K PC and is faster than 92% of the systems tested on Passmark and cost about $2600+ tax. $1500 will build you a hell of a fast 1080p gaming rig, but the 4K entry point is much higher.

slate912542d ago

Thank you Death for bringing some sense into this thread xD. People are making these budget "4k" pc's that will flatline to 15fps the moment an explosion goes off lmao.

DARKKENT2542d ago

LOL ..in other words

'Sorry no exclusivity due to the fact the PS4 has sold soo bloody much we do not want to miss out on the profits we'd make from that console'

bouzebbal2542d ago

exclusives give games more exposure, in the good or bad way.

ColonelHugh2542d ago (Edited 2542d ago )

@Death

You're absolutely right about price. My $2,100 (sans tax)rig is a pretty solid 4k 60fps machine. But I did make some concessions to make that budget. No liquid cooling for instance.

1080 ti, i7-7700k, 16 (only)gb of RAM are the core of the specs. 1080 ti is surprisingly not that much more cost than a 1080.

I had to jump through hoops to make that price though, there's no way you can get that at $1,500. Not even at 30fps I'd bet.

Wow! You are spot on. Cuphead and Ori look cool, but they are bonuses, not system sellers, and I can play them on PC anyway. It's weird b/c it almost felt like a semi-next gen launch, noting compatibility etc. It is a 4k machine, an upgrade of the X1 for those with 4k TVs. Yes, there are some upgrades for those with 1080, but $500 worth if you are not a gadget or hardware nerd? I am and still can't justify paying it. Nice machine, but give me a killer app!

dirkdady2542d ago

I and 95% of the gaming community don't have a 4K TV and for that reason alone we are out.

Death2542d ago

Both the PS4 Pro and Scorpio are targeting 4K owners. These are also mid gen upgrades, not new platforms. If you are waiting for a killer app/game to justify the purchase you really don't get what either is. 4K is the reason to upgrade, not a new game exclusive to either console. It's ok if you can't justify the upgrade, they are not made for you. The appeal is to hardcore gamers that are moving to 4K/HDR gaming.

beardtm2542d ago

@Death gets it. It doesn't need "a killer AAA Game" as it's not a new generation of console. If you have a 4k HDR TV and want the best version of games, then its for you.

BiggerBoss2542d ago (Edited 2542d ago )

@death and @beard

The point is that the Xbox platform in general is severely lacking in games. They didn't announce a single new First Party IP. This was E3 for Christ's sake!

Microsoft is infinitely richer than Sony, why are they incapable of investing in exclusives?

Cryptcuzz2542d ago

@dirkdady

"I and 95% of the gaming community don't have a 4K TV and for that reason alone we are out"

Man, that sounded like I was watching Shark Tank. LOL.

medman2541d ago (Edited 2541d ago )

+joab777
Yeah, it's a far stretch to expect folks to pay 500 for a box where the most anticipated "exclusive" titles are indies....and I'm actually looking forward to Cuphead and Ori, and wondering where Below went....but considering they will all be coming to pc, and considering a game like Crackdown got zero gameplay shown despite the fact it's supposedly launching 5 months from now, I imagine it leaves a queasy feeling for those Microsoft only console gamers......

Console gamers will choose XOX version over PS4 Pro.

BiggerBoss2542d ago

At $500, people are gonna walk right past the XOX and pick up a Ps4 Pro.

81BX2542d ago

Some people enjoy the luxury of high end products mostly I don't but I make exceptions for gaming ;)

2542d ago
JasonKCK2542d ago

Not at that quality you won't.

S2Killinit2542d ago (Edited 2542d ago )

@gamerpop
Exactely. Whats the point of spending 500 plus tax if there is no exclusives to make it a must have?

gangsta_red2542d ago

I'm guessing the same point as the PS4Pro.

BiggerBoss2542d ago

The PlayStation platform has exclusives though. What new first party games were announced?

gangsta_red2542d ago

The Xbox has exclusives too and can play games in a native 4k if that is your thing.

"What new first party games were announced?"

They didn't announce any, but do you really think that from this point on MS's first parties will have nothing new?

CaptainObvious8782542d ago

"They didn't announce any, but do you really think that from this point on MS's first parties will have nothing new?"

And if they didn't announce anything new at e3, THE place to announce games, how long are you going to have to wait to play new games?

You keep saying wait for E3. Well we've waited for E3 and you got virtually NOTHING. Nothing. Not a single new major exclusive (or I should say console exclusive) was announced that we ddn't know was coming. How long can you keep supporting a company like this?

gangsta_red2542d ago

@captain obvious

"...how long are you going to have to wait to play new games?"

Novemeber for Crackdown? Thats a new game right?

Sea of Thieves is still a new game i havent played.

Oh yea, there's Ashen, new Ori and other NEW games that no xbox fan has played yet.

"You keep saying wait for E3."

I keep saying this??

"Not a single new major exclusive (or.."

Like Sony's E3 conference? Anything else Mr. Obvious?

@Death

No one is building a $1500 dollar PC for 1080 gaming. Search google/youtube there are plenty of budget build guides. A GTX1080 just dropped to $500 I think, the same cost of the console. 4K on Xbox One X will not be the same as it is on most PCs, people dont realize the corners that are going to end up being cut. I think a computer that can run games at 4k at 30 fps with as many graphic options turned off could likely be bought for well under 1000. 4k at 60fps with everything turned on is not an apples to apples comparison to the Xbox One X. I think you made your post to brag about your specs more than anything else. Xbox One X is just an entry point into 4k for consumers who cant or dont want to build a PC.

Death2542d ago

My point is to keep your 4K expectations in check. Consoles are much more efficient than PC's because they are designed to do less. The power to value ratio though needs to be within reason. To expect 4K@60FPS is unrealistic for a $499 box.

These $1000 4K gaming rigs don't exist though unless your only goal is to only render a couple 4K frames per second. To achieve what consoles are targeting is significantly more. I showed what it cost to hit 4K@30fps as a baseline on PC. What you decide to do with my results is completely up to you. If you want to believe you can achieve the same with half as much without doing it, that is completely up to you. I can turn off all of my overclocking if you would like a post the results. That would bring you closer to a budget $1500 build.

NordicRainy2542d ago (Edited 2542d ago )

Death, why the fuck would you buy a 300 dollar MB?? And a almost 200 dollar PSU, and a liquid cooling set?? All your parts are ridiculously overpriced, and no budget build would include them, most builds in general wouldn't include those things. You can get so much better, for so much cheaper. That has to be one of the dumbest comments I have ever seen on this site.

Death2542d ago (Edited 2542d ago )

Why? Because I wanted to maximize performance and targeted 4K gaming at max settings. A "budget" 4K build will net "budget" 4K results. My $300 motherboard was a midrange board for over clocking and SLI in mind. You could shave some money off, but you lose FPS with each dollar saved. If you don't want to overclock or run in SLI you could spend half as much on a MB, but the CPU is a fixed price of $299 if you are looking at an i7 7700K. I have the option of running "stock" and it is much slower than overclocked at 5GHz. Keep in mind I'm overclocking on a system wide level including my GPU.

I need to spend another $600 on a second GPU to hit mid 40's in 4K at max as a baseline putting my cost well above the $3000 mark. Once again, show me your performance numbers for a $1000-$1500 budget 4K build. The performance level at $1500 doesn't justify the build if you have 4K in mind. You would be better off running at 1080p at a higher frame rate for that price.

As for my overpriced parts, they weren't over priced, they are considered "higher end" parts which are what you will need if you are serious about 4K gaming. I started my build with a $400 GTX 1070 but exchanged it for the GTX1080 when I seen the results.

Here's a $2000 build: http://techbuyersguru.com/2...
Here's what $2500 gets: http://techbuyersguru.com/2...
If you have $3000 to burn: http://techbuyersguru.com/3...

Your $1500 4K machine is here: https://beebom.com/how-buil...

The money saved limits what you can do and the performance you can achieve. If you want to overclock more than the boost speed or run in SLI at the best performance you need to upgrade your cooling, PSU and MB. That's a great MB for the price, but not ideal if you want max performance. The $1500 build is using a less expensive and smaller SSD as well. Nothing was allotted for the OS either.

NordicRainy2542d ago

A motherboard does nothing to your performance really. You could buy a 150$ MB that had SLI support and overclock just fine. Overclocking that much is overkill and pointless, you're just gonna kill your CPU in the long run. And not that many games are CPU bound so the small performance gain wouldn't even be worth it really. And a good air cooler will keep a CPU plenty cool enough. Overclocking your GPU is a different story, but I find even that pointless. Most of the time the overclock will give you only a few more frames. But that's just my opinion

Building a PC for 4K isn't worth it anyway. Unless your rich, then who cares. At least not when you want to get max settings and 60 FPS. That's why I find these PC vs XBONEX comparisons idiotic. Nobody knows what they sacrificed in graphical fidelity on the Xbox. All we know is that there's no way in hell it's running games anywhere close to max settings.

P.S It would be much smarter to see what AMD has in store with Vega.

I wish more devs took this route. More Power to the gamers let us play whatever we like on whatever platform we prefer.

freshslicepizza2542d ago (Edited 2542d ago )

But when money is involved and you have hardware players involved that idea quickly goes out the window.

Then we have the fanatics in the forums. Instead of saying awesome I have multiple choices to play this game it becomes childish behavior saying this hardware does not have exclusives.

BiggerBoss2542d ago

But the XBox DOESNT have exclusives. It's not like people are lying. What new First Party IP was announced this year? I'll wait.

freshslicepizza2542d ago

Prime example right there as I was saying. This game looks great but the discussions turn sideways as soon as exclusives get mentioned

DARKKENT2542d ago

I couldn't get past moldy bread using the word 'fanatic' to describe others...

BiggerBoss2542d ago

Moldy man, you just don't get it. Microsoft is one of the richest companies on Earth. Infinitely richer than Sony. Why can't they put some of that money towards opening new studios and starting new franchises? Why haven't they successfully launched a SINGLE new AAA franchise this gen? Instead of closing the studio that creates Fable games, why not give us Fable 4?

freshslicepizza2542d ago (Edited 2542d ago )

Big Boss I do get it, it's why ever since E3 I already said what you're saying now. They didn't even show one new game aside from Forza 7.

But again we are talking about third party here and they should be making their games available and not accepting exclusive deals. Microsoft was attacked for it last generation and now Sony is taking over and hardly any complaints. Instead the attitude is, great Sony got another game. This is what I am talking about with this childish behavior grinning that the game is only playable on their preferred platform. If Metro was exclusive on the PS4 that is exactly the reaction we would have gotten here.

I will also go one step further, Microsoft was being deceptive by making it appear like it was exclusive with all the console launch wordplay for a lot of the games shown.

Did I get it yet?

joab7772542d ago

I agree. But the issue is the software. If I could play all my PS games on it, then sure!

Relientk772542d ago

This game looks great, can't wait to see more. Potentially the best game from the Microsoft conference

joab7772542d ago

It does look great. I wanna see more!

GTgamer2542d ago

Pretty sure it won't look like that on release just like the metro last light e3 gameplay didn't look like the final release either.

StormLegend2542d ago

One of the best games at the conference and it's coming to PS4 on day 1! I love the Metro series! Last Light is by far one of the best FPS.

joab7772542d ago (Edited 2542d ago )

How much would MS have to pay a 3rd party dev/publisher to ignore a consumer base of 50+ million ppl? This is exactly why Sony doubled down on 1st party SOFTWARE last gen. It is what dug them out of their huge hole. People wanted to play TLoU, Uncharted, GoW3, etc.

j15reed2542d ago

Don't forget the 300 marketing deals...

2542d ago
Death2542d ago

I don't think devs should be paid to keep games off any platform. It's a pretty anti-gamer practice. It's wrong when Microsoft does it and it's wrong when Sony does it. I'm glad many of the games from yesterdays show are going to be on PS4. That is the beauty of third party support and why the bulk of games sold are from third party studios.

Hardiman2542d ago

That's what got me to buy the PS3(the first slim model) in 09. It was their exclusives that won me over and it just kept getting better. The day I traded in my (fourth or fifth, RRD) 360 towards the PS3 Slim I got Uncharted, Demons Souls, Infamous, Resistance 1 and 2. Then Uncharted 2 hit like a few weeks later and then a few months later God of War 3 came and it was over. I continued to enjoy Sony's exclusive lineup and by the time the PS4 was up for pre order I reserved mine and I have been waiting for Microsoft to give me a reason to buy an Xbox since 09 and yesterday might have been their last chance with me.
