let me slowly walk you through this, Phil is saying that you should congratulate developers when they put out a game not hate on them just because it's not on the platform you choose. sample: Xbox fans should congratulate naughty dogs and the PlayStation fans for putting a great game in Uncharted not hate on them.

Phil is a good sport. . I think he's liked throughout the industry. There will always be the element of 'them vs us ' with some fans where they never turn it off. Always on I call it. . Samsung or lg owe me money. . .

Those types find it near impossible to give credit to things not on their preferred platform. If they can muster the strength to compliment, it's usually of the backhanded sweet bitter kind.

I think Phil really is a gamer, and is actually very much into good games and seeing more of them made. Before he was the head of Xbox, he's been seen discussing games at length, and praising all sorts of games from the past, present and future, and being able to discuss them with enough detail to see that he's actually into playing them.

I think he does mention the competition too much, and I think he should reign it in some in that regard. The only time I personally take issue with those mentions is when he turns around and tries to make that mention into something about MS.

Been telling people on this site for a long time that it's better to embrace the games than belittle the platforms. The systems are just players, the means to play the game. It's the games themselves that provide the entertainment and there are lots of really cool and appealing games that are just only available on different platforms.

I bare no allegiance to any platform as it serves no purpose to me. I bare my allegiance to the games and having fun. While others are fixated on pixels and resolution...i'm over here having fun with my kids playing mario kart or sonic or little big planet.

Once people close their eyes to the console war pettiness and open them to the fun of just playing games, the whole hobby becomes that much more entertaining.

I own the Nintendo and Sony consoles and portables. I wish Nintendo and Microsoft would stop developing consoles and release everything on the Playstation consoles so I can have all new releases on one console.

How is that counterproductive for gamers? It doesn't do anything less for gamers. Gamers are getting the exact same amount of games, just on a single console, not having to purchase multiple consoles. That's what these console wars are mostly about anyways, the fact that all these games are on their console and they don't need another console to satisfy their needs.

@Princekai13 yes the PS division and Cameras are profitable. Sony loses on TVs and Mobiles. I don't know if they sold off the Vaios yet. But in general Microsoft is in a much healthier state regarding profit.

But Spencer's been with Microsoft for a long time and his promotion to Head of Xbox was well deserved. He does a good job and I'd say Xbox is doing well overall, despite it's HW sales being less than the PS4s. I also think that Microsoft would not invest so much money in developing the Xbox One's Software with so many great updates if it wants to drop the Xbox One.
He's head of Xbox so I think he also had a say in the development and production of the Elite Controller which is still sold out at most retailers. Of course they where ran over by the huge demand but it's still a successful product.
He probably worked hard to get where he is now and I just don't agree with the guy saying that it's like he's begging for a Job at Sony when he congratulates ND for UC4. ND is not even Sony.

Sony Playstation is a part of a newly formed company Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and it includes playstation Video, Sony pictures and Playstation VR. Those are profitable. And SIE is making money.

Have you ever thought that maybe with everything sony has going on, co-operation is better than aggression. Phil came into the game after the Xbox One was announced and released. Since then he has helped change the image of it back from home entertainment first to gaming first,phil is a gamer at heart, and that shows when he doesn't show blind loyalty to his company. Praising a team because of their amazing work is a good thing. Sometimes that team is Naughty Dog, Sometimes its 343. Sometimes its Sony, and sometimes its MS.

Phil was promoted to Head of Xbox after the Xbox One was launched. Previously he was head of Microsoft Studios. He has a long history with xbox and MS. The money they make off playstation is more than enough to make up for their other loses. Sony has been profitable for a while now. So yes, MS is doing better. But It's disingenuous to say Sony doesn't make money.

Upgradeable Xbox needs to be their focus for the future. The Xbox becomes in effect your mid range PC which can be upgraded to the very highest PC settings so no need to buy a PC. Many people (who can afford it) will then buy both an Xbox AND a PS4.

The gaming divisions of Sony and Microsoft ARE at war, Microsoft is just loosing, so like they do in all their divisions when they loose, they start throwing their most loyal fans under the bus and attempt to attract the fans of their competition. If the Xbox One was actually competitive with the Playstation 4, I doubt Phil would be saying this. Here's the thing, Xbox One is so far behind, it doesn't matter if Phil says he is more interested in a Playstation game because it probably won't effect Xbox One sales much anyways. This is just PR to sway popular opinion towards him and get more Xbox sales.

Even though it was PR talk to look like good guy Phil, what he said though was the truth. It shouldn't matter what console the game is on, a good game is a good game. That being said, doesn't matter how good the game is if there's almost nothing else on the console that you can't already buy on another console. Not too many people are keen on purchasing a $300 console for just one or two games. I have 10 Wii U games and still disappointed in my purchase because I know there's not much more that I'll be interested in.
