Looks like the cat is out of the bag, and a seven minute long gameplay trailer for the upcomibg SWAT-themed Battlefield Hardline has been leaked.

This seems like BF4 but even more over the top 'splosion fest that was directed by Michael Bay on two scoops of pre-workout doing a chest press with semtex laden barbells on top of Mountain Kilimanjaro.

Sure, it's not a traditional BF game...but it's a spin-off. The whole point of a spin-off is to do something different from the main franchise. I'm really digging the cops vs criminals setting, the game modes look like a lot of fun, especially the heists, those will be a lot of fun to do with friends.

Payday meets BF4 meets GTA5, that's the feeling i got from the trailer.

One thing i didn't like though is the fact it's cross-gen. You can tell just by looking at it. I long for a BF game that doesn't have last-gen compromises.

Yeaah I mean, I dunno...I have mixed feelings. It could be good; the game modes look really interesting but the gunplay is really important for me.

But saying all this, I'll be very cautious after the BF4 debacle with the netcode etc.

I'm not being pessimistic for the sake of it though. It could be brilliant for all I know. I just had this image in my head of a very ground-based focused game.

@funky - just keep at it man. Once you lose the weight and gain the muscle you can enjoy life and splurge on some beer and pizza and work it off and never see it touch you. I've been lucky to always be very very skinny and be able to pack on large amounts of muscle as well. A proper diet is the #1 thing. I always tell everyone the key is to eat food that grows from the ground. Chicken+rice+veggies, eggs, peanut butter, beans, milk, cottage cheese, stuff like that!

So far I am not wowed by this trailer, but I expect this was an internal promotion video not meant to wow me. I just wanna know player counts, map sizes and how small the matches are going to be. My biggest gripe with BF3/BF4 is so many small matches instead of fully fleshed out ones. To few tickets.

Wow, this has nothing to do with Battlefield anymore. It is not a complaint about the game in general, Visceral Games is ambitious in regards of making something new, that not "exsisted" so far, but they should've left out the main title "Battlefield". Because this franchise has always been IMO about large battles and the feeling of an ongoing huge war. Sure, for marketing purposes it sells better if its got the well known "Battlefield" as the main title, but seperating the franchise from its "origin" or "soul" will kill it sooner or later. EA should have made it a new franchise, instead of abusing Battlefield for it.

I completely agree. I don't understand why they don't just bring this out as a new IP. In my opinion the whole point of battlefield is that it is a large scale military FPS, which this obviously isn't. It makes absolutely 0 sense in the battlefield gameplay.

Not only that but they are still using the same fucking assets! You'd think with a new team they'd finally be able to replace the m16 model which as been used in the last 2 games. The UI looks shit, and the graphics have had no improvements (though I understand since its also coming out for last gen consoles). Perhaps EA should stop caring so much about the monies and actually do something right for a change. None of it. It is about cops chasing criminals. New setting, hollywood actors, episodic singleplayer. Seems like there is no domination mode anymore, instead you will get things like Heist Mode (looks like PayDay, but additionally you can play the opposing side, the cops, as well), high speed chases, capture the flag with money and so on. As well there will be no tanks included.

Visceral only makes the single player campaign DICE makes the multiplayer, just like in MoH 2010. Hotwire game mode seems exactly like the vehicle capture the flag in BF, instead of flag you carry the loot. The only difference is that there are no tanks but cars, and we have a grappling hook. I expected a more tactical type shooter, like the game modes in Socom Confrontation (Escort, hostage rescue, breach etc.) There is a hostage rescue game mode but what is the point if that game mode is a respawn game mode? It is like playing poker without money. They emphasize the tactical element in the game but i didn't see any of it. So for me it is a BF4 DLC, urban warfare.

Too bad no matter how good this looks/is the stigma that Battlefield games are unfinished buggy games that Dice created will undoubtedly be passed on to the guys making this game and it won't sell well. Gotta hand it to EA though for realizing there's a void in the market for a SWAT/police shooter since it's been years since Rainbow 6. I'm a BF vet I've bought all the BF games and sunk over a thousand hours on them but this has no appeal to me. DICE is not making this, it uses the BF4 engine so DICE will probably be helping in providing help in making sure the game performs at its best far as the Engine goes but Visceral games doing the game.

The problem with BF4 was the MP and EA going the cheap route on the servers, not the actual game itself, last I heard they where supposed to be getting new servers and after playing over this past weekend I had no problems like when the game launched.

Can EA skimp on the servers again when this game launches ? They might, but they would have to be fools to do on a new IP launch. Then again this is EA, they can eff up a pb&j samich.

To me this game reminds me exactly of ODST failings...not needed, not asked for, not excited well (if trailer is indication).

I'm pleased that they scaled down the battlefield area a bit. I'm not sure how I feel about the whole cops and robbers thing, but at least they are changing up the series a bit (a hell of a lot more than COD is).

Either way, I skipped BF4 due to the major issues (and lack of patience I have for DICE's servers), so this game may be worth it if I can have a few buddies of mine join in on the action. They do team-work quite well, you gotta gave that to them.

Hopefully they simply remove aim assist or make it a server side option so I can disable that bs for everyone...

I also hope the online MP portion has all the normal military vehicles. BF won't be BF without tanks, lav's, btr's, etc.

The last battlefield game I was genuinely excited about was BF3. I hope DICE develops Bad Company 3 soon.

Well that single player looks like a direct rip off of swat 4 which is not a bad thing co op would be nice but the multiplayer not so sure , look forward to complaining about net code day one though.

For the Single Player part of the video, I think the dude in the brown leather jacket is Adam Harrington (from LA Noire). That African-American guy, I've seen him from somewhere, too... just can't remember.
