Here's How Titanfall's Graphics Improved on Xbox One After the Dreaded Sharpening FIlter's Removal

Yesterday Xbox One users rejoiced due to the removal of the very much hated filter that caused the picture look overly sharpened on the console when sub-1080p resolution was upscaled to full HD, and Titanfall Producer Drew McCoy encouraged beta testers to try the game before and after to see the difference. The pictures in this article show it.

at least i'm not the only one that's noticing this. what people are failing to realize is technically the before is better. if you look at the after what they did is make the distance look a little more blurry and added some fog. in the fore images you can see ore detail in the buildings and other objects.

coolcal3767d ago

This is all over fabricated BS!! If you don't like the system "don't buy it" I love my Xone and theres nothing anyone can say to change my mind!! Evey week theres some BS article about Xone can do this and why u should buy a PS4 or PC. Really?

XtraTrstrL3767d ago

You do understand why that's happening though, right?

coolcal3767d ago

No, Please enlighten me……again

XtraTrstrL3767d ago

It's because X1's specs are so inferior, yet the Kinect and Microsofts greed and refusal to take any loss on hardware sales has the console priced a whole $100 more than the superior console spec-wise. Microsoft still has many restrictive rules and loopholes for devs to jump through, while the competition is a much more pleasant environment for independents and larger teams. It's more difficult this time around to get a grasp of the X1 hardware and get something optimized fully compared to the PS4. All that plus the fact that their API tools and SDK are still a large step behind in maturity compared to PS4's. I mean, it's so weak, they have underachieving devs like CODs dev teams even, asking them to free up some of that 10% power that is reserved for the Kinect. That's pretty bad, when you consider Ghosts doesn't even look next gen, it looks inbetween gens at best. It's just all around a mess for X1, so they're trying their best to throw money around and lock exclusivity on as much stuff as they can.

CJDUNCAN3766d ago

So inferior?

Seem like DEVs complaint is that the X1 is more complicated to work around not that it's so sub-par to the PS4.

Now that I've had a chance to actually play the X1 I'm not worried about the "specs". Not everyone is a tech-head and maybe it's a great assumption but more care about the gaming experiences on a console.

If Ryse is the X1 launch game, I can only imagine what's to come.

The Kinect is pretty useful and I can see it being incorporated more thoroughly into games in the future.

Both systems are amazing.

However, to say the X1 is the cause of some DEVs games faltering is a bit much. These DEVs got greedy and tried doing too much with too little time. Cross-gen and Multi-plat? They should have focused on one gen of platforms IMO.

Gamer-403767d ago

Don't worry about it my friend, Titanfall will be very successful game, and the X1 good console.

CJDUNCAN3766d ago

I agree, Titanfall is a pretty fun experience.

Charybdis3767d ago

Well it is a good upgrade. People have been complaining about the "sharpening filters".

It appears to have an positive effect on all games on the xb1, it is a nice update which should have been implemented sooner.

Probably should expect a similar positive article to appear which compares more games and not just titanfall.

ShinMaster3766d ago

Are you even talking about the right article?

bigrob9043766d ago

every time i play the x1 i just think, " i cant wait till i get a ps4." i mean really they thought every system needed a connect? that thing is mildly amusing when you first use it.after a while of yelling xbox at it and hardly getting a response, or it picking up on hand movements when you are the only person in the room and you aren't moving your hands or not picking up on hand movements when you are moving your hands. not to mention that the hand controls suck. the only good thing about the voice control is i don't always have to turn on the controller to watch netflix or something because those things eat through batteries so fast. i'm just not seeing why this system is more than the ps4.

SonyROXitoohya3765d ago

Lol it's kinect, u obviously don't have an xb1 and are just trolling, and failing at that

bigrob9043765d ago

@sonyroxitoohya except i do,so i'm not trolling just speaking from experience.

They should have put an option in the video settings menu to either turn the sharpening filter on or off for people who prefer a more crisp picture as opposed to those who prefer a softer one. Can't please everybody I guess.

SilentGuard3767d ago

Good idea and would satisfy both sides but MS is a one size fits all kinda company. I present mandatory Kinect with the console as an example.

Nice FPS game, but is not a technological top.

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

MadLad639d ago

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

Venoxn4g639d ago (Edited 639d ago )

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

gurp39d ago

I played them all, they are all good in their own way
I used to be obsessed with FPS games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."

Physical media. Unfortunately the way games are going these days game servers will eventually be shut down and you can stare at the menu and wish you could play the game again.

littletad919d ago

This is why reading is so important. Nothing to do with digital or physical media. The game, which is online only, is being delisted because of DDOS and other hacker attacks. The case got so bad that only six players in the world log on. For PC. Rather than fix it, they continued to sell the game, broken as it is, and only now just decided to call it quits. But please, go on thinking what you will.

Ethereal918d ago

I'm aware of the DDOS attacks and that this case is not typical. This game would eventually have it's servers shutdown regardless of the current situation so that is a moot point. My comment was in a general sense and that there are instances in which games can be preserved physically when official support ends.

Let's recap your first sentence. I said, "the way GAMES are going these days" indicating a broader stroke than just this game. I agree, reading IS important. I was simply stating the obvious downsides of the digital marketplaces and online only trends in games these days. I could even make the argument that the online only offering which has allowed hacker manipulation has impacted the preservation of this great game. My comment is valid in the general sense and thank you for your permission to continue to think what I will.
