I live in cali too. Taxes vary by county. For example SD and LA are huge cities and they have higher tax rates.

You should be getting one. Just to be safe, I would pay it off the week of release. That way you can just walk in, show your receipt, and walk out. Did that with the PS3 launch and saved myself about an hour in line.
