Yeah, it's honestly to the point now where most new buyers are going to get a 4K option. There will still be 1080p only options as very cheap budget models. But nearly every major TV brand was selling some 4k ~50" options in the $500 range during the holidays. Most were sales, but by the end of this year those are going to be far more common price points.

But, I still don't think mass market gaming is really into true 4k territory yet...and don't think Scor...

I disagree entirely that MS 'clearly stated' anything related to Scorpio...nothing was clear about it.

Scorpio is another Windows 10 device. Just like the Xbox One is now. This is mostly important because Windows 10 is now an 'xbox' device, as well. Xbox is...officially...no longer a console exclusive platform.

The only clear thing, to me at least, is that the brand of Xbox now just means exclusive to Windows 10. They've done NOTHING i...

right now, living room VR is no different than living room 3D, or 'better' motion control, was last gen.

Some like it, thump about how great it is on the internet, but to the general public...it's a gimmick that, even with PSVR's price point, is too expensive to be on the radar.

The tech isn't there yet. The development isn't there yet. The interest isn't there yet, at least at current price points. Been saying it for over a y...

^yeah...sloppiness in a controller makes no difference in anything framerate wise as far as how it 'looks' to a viewer...because a controller has nothing to do with how it 'looks'...

Agreed @ Morganfell, people aren't differentiating between 'watching' and 'interacting'...People are also making the argument too wide.

These debates always circles around a game's rendered framerate, and if people 'can really see the difference'...when that has never been the key aspect of framerates and video games...

@Tyler, as others mentioned...if that was the case Sony would be thumping their chest about it. Why advertise a device that people can't buy?...I can't tell if serious...Google has been pushing their pixel phones for nearly 5 months now, yet they've been out of stock more often than not. Hardware publishers/manufacturers don't 'ease off the gas' to quench demand when the problems are supply chain logistical. They ease off the gas when the marketing and advertising expe...

@Shin -

A cash asset balance is different than net income, comprehensive income / overall profits, etc.. There are 1000's of reasons for diminishing asset balances even while being profitable. Nintendo was profitable through both 2015 and 2016, despite the Wii U's unanimous crappiness. And overall company financial position (the entirety of the balance sheet) was steady.

Just saying, you can't look at a cash balance and remotely see the whole ...

just google it...Alan Wake had a pretty troubled development, even before MS got involved and 'forced' it onto 360. The original concept was more or less confirmed to be an open world game, but Remedy kind of back peddled on that saying it was to be an 'open narrative' game or something...and was more talking about the story going in all kinds of different directions depending on player actions and choic...

There is no way to have a true debate about this aspect, as it's entirely subjective...

objectively...no way to argue it...PC lacks exclusive content that makes the amount of money publishers are looking for, at least in the traditional sense...period...

There is a ton of exclusive stuff for PC...it's just not driven into any notion of popularity among mass target audiences...The simple matter is more people know about Uncharted 4, and only being ...

Sony is sticking to 1st party exclusives...that worked great last gen, which was the only gen that PC really fought in the same industry more or less. No....

The 360 and PS3 were WAY ahead of PC's at launch...The 360 and PS3 both had gpu's that were higher performance than any available off the shelf PC parts that the time. Comparisons were a little disjointed as they were entirely proprietary custom solutions, but the PS3's was an overclocked 7800 series Nvidia card in 2006, which wasn't topped by any material margin in the PC market until very late 2007 with the 8800's...t...

Follow AMD's road maps for this stuff...Polaris is the 'answer' for low TDP and/or APU solutions. ˆ What? Doom doesn't use DX12. It uses Vulkan.

Fair enough, but BF4 didn't work as intended for half a year. It wasn't a minor case of first week/month launch traffic problems; it was on fire for a variety of reasons. So the holding out logic is sound, but all too often...still...holding out for a week or two is VERY far from what's needed.

No, not at all...

The PS3 was NOT a 'top of the line' blu ray player when it released...that was arguably the most important part of the PS3 having a blu ray drive to begin with...It had a 2x BD drive, and the system didn't ship with a handful of promised BD enabled features. Certain audio codecs couldn't be pushed, etc. It was significantly under higher priced dedicated blu ray players feature wise, though...even at $500 ...

Sounds a lot like the MS fanatics' stance when the PS3 had a blu ray drive. "Who is going to use a console for blu ray movies?"...turns out, a lot of people..it was the number one blu ray playing device for years...released in the exact same situation...stand alone players were double the price of the consoles, and the console had better connectivity options entirely...things like BD live, etc. were all added to it with simple software updates, whe...

Steam machines and SteamOS's only drawback is linux only. Linux itself isn't the drawback, only that the market for it is extremely small. I'm all for linux based gaming, but the simple truth is that 95%+ of PC game development is DX focused, and steam OS has done next to nothing with promoting linux based game development.

If SteamOS was opened up to support DX, Steam machine popularity would be very different, and arguably a very attractive alternative to cons...

yeah Sony not allowing it (at least to whatever vague degree they've talked about so far) vs. PC allowing it doesn't change the advantage a higher frame rate will give in specific games, especially those with simulation and server refreshes tied to client frame rates...It's only that with PC users can adjust the settings to maximize frames if it they see fit...
