You said "what competing company wants another competitor on their platform" and I responded with a valid point. I'm not taking sides here

Playstation, Xbox, and Apple all allow competing movie streaming services on their platforms, even though they all have their own movie rentals/purchases. Sony and MS allow EA Access on their platforms even though they have their own subscription services.

Streaming 4k games will never be better than playing locally, people will try it out and see that it sucks. I think streaming a few minutes here and there might be ok, but I don't think millions of people are going to sign up for Ultimate and stream 8 hours at a time. Isn't xCloud 720p right now? That may run ok but I doubt performance will be great if they bump it to 4k. Shooters are usually the top selling games and those wouldn't work very well

In the past decade they have mostly made top-down RPGs like Pillars, Tyranny, etc. They aren't really a AAA studio. They made Fallout New Vegas, KOTOR, Outer Worlds, South Park, but those larger budget games aren't their usual projects.

This is what Phil talked about disliking, platform exclusive game content. It doesn't matter to me, I have both consoles so I can get whichever version is the best.

It was hideous, I'm glad it's gone. I may not buy physical games, but I do like to look at box art

Except GearsTactics, and Minecraft Dungeons are 2 recent games that aren't services or Gaas. Is Bleeding Edge considered Gaas? Hellblade 2, Age of Empires IV, and Battletoads surely won't be service games. The devs have creative freedom, it's up to them.

Here's my reply to basically the same comment in another post, plus an additional source

MS makes a lot of money from 3rd party sales and eliminating Xbox would really reduce the revenue. Console manufacturers get 30% of sales through their online stores, that's $18 per full price game. https://www.ign.com/article...

Steam hardware surveys will tell you that most PC gamers on Steam don't have very good PCs. The most common video card is a 1060, for example

You can buy the game, you don't need Game Pass. MS has sold games on Steam for a long time but they decided to bring over all of their new titles. 4 MS games are currently in the top 10 best sellers on Steam. There are millions of Steam users who don't want Windows Store or Epic and they're not interested in Game Pass.

Not every game needs a physical copy. It's a waste of resources and it can probably be downloaded in minutes.

The cloud isn't generating the world, it's transferring data. It might be possible, but pointless for open world games because game worlds aren't that large. This is basically the planet and there's no way to store all that data locally without using TBs of space. A huge game world can fit on current drives

It's not all about getting news out, E3 is a place for developers and industry people to meet, have discussions, and get to know each other. Business decisions get made, people talk in person, the media can actually sit down face to face with developers and conduct interviews.
