Regardless of install base, the relevant data in the article is as follows:

Wii: 17.51M third party software sales

PS3: 18.6M third party software sales

360: 29.4M third party software sales

So the Wii is the worst system to develop a third party game for since it has the smallest third party market. The PS3 is barely better. And the 360 excels in the potential third party market. The 360 simply has the largest third party market and therefo...

I certainly don't expect anything more. Just keep everything fun, add some new instances, and restart the gear ladder. Sounds awesome.

Nintendo cannot write magic. No matter how much they try, they can only write ones and zeros and there is always a way to hack those ones and zeros.

Half of the functionality of the PSP is there primarily because hackers put it there first. When the hacking community does something new, Sony (or whatever first party company) must reciprocate in order to keep up.

For example, hackers found a way to use Wipeout Pure as a web browser. Later, Sony added their own web browser.

Hackers found a way to have the PSP emulate the PS1. Later, Sony re-engineered old PS1 games for use on the PSP.

Hackers found a w...

Yes, the USD is not worth as much as the Euro or the GBP, but it's not necessarily about the simple conversion rate because people in the countries can make more or less. America has the second highest median household income (second only to Luxembourg). The median household income is the best indicator of how much the average people in the country make. Since when you look at the quintiles and how much they make, it's completely skewed in favor of the rich, the median household income is a f...

You can't just compare one processor to another and thereby determine that one company is better than another. You have to compare the whole processor lines. AMD might have more focus on the mid-range or low-end processors than Intel and this would show nothing of it. This is about high-end processors and the article is extremely arrogant to assume that Intel is "dominating" AMD because they have more market share and their high-end processors are better. I want a comparison of the ...

Except for ME. ME never caught on and is remembered as a failed OS. Vista could shape up like 98 or fail miserably like ME. A lot of it depends on how hard Microsoft pushes it vs. just replacing it with a new one.

The RIAA is made up of nothing more than self-interested lawyers. Their DRM's are insanely restrictive and the DMCA makes it illegal to make software designed to remove the DRM's. That's why I avoid buying CD's and downloading from Itunes. Why should I buy an album that I don't even have the rights to? I wish everyone would do the same and drive those greedy idiots out of business.

Don't hold your breath for FFXIII. You probably won't see that in America until at least early 2009.

It's interesting that she's pandering to them instead of the personal rights sort of Lockian crowd that I think have a much larger presence in her party. But I think she's capitalizing on the GTA:SA fiasco. She doesn't want to seem soft on it, so she's trying to look like the iron protector of children. Shielding their innocent eyes from the terrible video games that will be the downfall of society. Just like how people thought rock & roll would be the downfall of society.

None of my kidneys have crapped out on me yet, but it never hurts to have a spare. How heavy use are we talking? But back on subject, I got an overclocked 8600 GT with 512 MB of GDDR3 ram clocked at 1460 MHz (OCed from 1400 MHz. It's really sweet for my stuff. Best of all, I got it on black friday at CompUSA for only $130 ($100 off its normal price). I had a crappy, one year old, bottom-of-the-line PC with a 3.2 GHz single core CPU and 512 MB of ram (running XP), and I got that graphics card ...

Not at all. Out speeds in the US suck. I live in a city of over 500,000 in the city itself and about 1 million in the metropolitan area by the latest estimates, and my speed sucks. I can get cable, which advertises 8 mbps, but is really more like 2 mbps when you test it. Or I could get DSL which advertises 7 mbps for me, but is really more about 2 mbps when tested. You can go to www.internetfrog.com to test your connection. I hear in South Korea you can get amazingly fast broadband that will ...

I think these 4 cases are setting a dangerous precedent. If can order people into rehab for mental addictions to legal substances as trivial as video games, then that broadens the scope of what courts can define as a mental addiction to a legal substance. I'm not familiar with Swedish law, but it would seem to be ludicrous to allow a judge or judges to order people into rehab for eating too much cheese.

I get the eerie feeling this is going to cost way more than a normal XPS just for a WoW logo on it and a couple pre-installed things. But who knows? I hope I'm wrong.

This is PC. You're the first one to even mention the PS3 in this thread. I haven't played UT 2004, but I loved the UT3 demo even on my craptastic PC. It looks like crap because my PC is terrible, but the gameplay was fantastic. Just looks like another great game to me. The gameplay is great. Why mess with perfection? The graphics can get a little tune-up since 2004.

It'd be nice to have a pricecut on some real games.

I think Gamespot is pissed because this is also a timed exclusive for the PS3. We all know Gamespot are massive fanboys. If Halo 3 got a 9.5, this game should at the least get a 9 by my judgement. Even just the demo was awesome on my craptastic PC. And I'm sure the full game is leagues better.

EDIT: I don't care how it compares to UT 2004. If UT 2004 was good, then why possibly screw it up by tweaking the gameplay too much? The graphics got an update, and the whole thing is inc...

After all that, I still went out and bought KOTOR 2 along with Halo 2. They both got 10/10's in the magazine I was reading at the time and the clerk said KOTOR 2 was this great game, and I just got sucked into the hype. Needless to say, I couldn't figure out where the fun was hiding when I was wondering around that maze of a first map, trying to talk to various NPC's only to discover that the chat system wasn't actually all that helpful. Luckily I resisted the urge to chuck my Xbox off the ro...

That video was hilarious. I think it's being posed by VGchartz themselves though. And then they're denying it, so I think that might be more, the "anti-Cavuto."
