***You're a mod on this site. Why don't you tell me why I'd think fanboys would be in shambles.***

Imagine! Because I think it will only happen in our imaginations.
Actually, all of them did this by adding their apps to existing games once they released their apps. So, no, they're not any different.
Much need for it, because I know no one is going to turn any of this attention anywhere and it will just die out until the next Internet band wagon pops up. Gamers are proven to have power, they will then squander it rather than utilize it where it matters.
Why would they be in shambles? Either way, they were going to play the game.
If this were true, then they would have attacked Ubisoft, EA, Take2, 2k, and more.
Now, will gamers take all this fervor and aim it at the likes of EA, Ubisoft, Take2, and others who have way more invasive and problem-causing apps for Steam games?
***You can get analytics without this, literally every game out there does. ***
Analytics is taking data and analyzing it, so saying that isn't quite helping your argument since the question is the type of data being collected. You're attempting to compare how people play to what I'm talking about which is more about what the user does when logged in with their PSN account. From not only playing the game but their actions while logged in, how they interact with ...
***Realistically, if PSN was always an intended requirement, they should have never been sold on Steam to regions without PSN support in the first place. ***
Exactly this. But we know how corporations think. They want their cake and to eat it as well.
***Its not the fact that you need to create a new account to play the game ... its that fact that it was added later. ***
To note and be somewhat of a Devil's Advocate, the steam page did note that you would eventually need one. It was on PSN pages that they said one wasn't required.
Still not a good way for Sony to handle this. But, I feel like the reaction to this is quite extreme and wish people cared about EA, UConnect, Take2, Bethesda, and o...
@derek: That latest reply from you feels like you're just struggling to make this less of a problem rather than actually using facts to support you random claims on why this is okay.
Because user data.
The problem is that Sony absolutely needs someone like Microsoft as competition in hardware/console. Without it, it's worse for the consumer. Much worse.
Horse before the cart, IMHO. I feel they are doing worse on hardware *because* they put their games everywhere now and because the focus so much on subscription model gaming/streaming.
Steam + Xbox is quite a bit, I agree. Now, what type of argument are we trying to win with this info since both Xbox an PS games are on Steam?
It's mediocre. Let's be honest. It's coasting on the coattails of Skyrim and Fallout, IMHO.
Okay, sure. But then the PC version shouldn't be sold in regions where people can't 'legally' sign up for a PSN account to meet that requirement.
Left out of this article was this follow up reply:

"Alright. Some folks are (I hope not) intentionally misinterpreting this.
To be clear, just the PS5 version would make Helldivers II the best-selling game in the US YTD. As would just the PC version.
Both versions are massive hits."
It's actually just so they can collect data. They are very happy with PSN numbers.
Origin didn't fail, it's EA app now.
