Introducing N4G Rewards

Update: The contest has been amended to pull from the Top 100 instead of the Top 50.

Welcome to N4G Rewards

N4G Rewards is here! It's our way of saying thank you for those who come back, visit and engage with the awesome community here. So, how does N4G Rewards work? It’s simple, all you need to do is login and then be an active member of the site by commenting on posts and discussing with other members. Each time you do, you earn points - which are then put in a leaderboard. You can even earn points by submitting articles.

You can see the leaderboard here: https://n4g.com/users/top

Each month, there will be a challenge - rewarding those who drive the most conversation, or for the most active members who have accrued the most points. The admins will set these challenges monthly. The winner of these challenges will be rewarded with an awesome prize, from consoles to games and more.

November’s N4G reward: This month’s prize is a PS5 Slim

And the challenge: To unlock this prize, you need to be among the top 100 highest scoring members of N4G. You can see how you’re ranking here: https://n4g.com/users/top . The winner will then be picked at Random - it won’t be awarded to the top scorer.

Admins, mods and anyone at BGFG are exempt from N4G Rewards, and will not be able to take part.

In time, we want N4G Rewards to evolve - not only giving our community a chance to win amazing prizes, but potentially using the points you accrue on the site to unlock discounts on your favourite games. More on that later. We’ll also send you the best deals, and reminders throughout the month as the reward nears. It’s never too late to get involved.

For now, to get started, all you have to do is login to N4G and begin interacting with other members.

If you’re not a member of N4G, you can sign up here: https://n4g.com/account/joi...

Welcome to, what we hope to become, the best gaming rewards scheme on the planet.

Okay cool. Seem like a nice idea to give back to the community.

Crows90197d ago

I think it is a great idea to give back to the community. I wonder if this will bring an influx of new users though.

OtterX197d ago

I quit the site earlier this year because of some frustration with the new BGFG management and the downhill direction N4G has been taking since the buyout.

...I have been lurking in the shadows with a new account recently though, just for the sake of being able to view pending stories. (this is literally my first comment since returning) I intended to remain a quiet reader, but I felt done with engaging here, especially in story submission & management.

This feels like a good temptation to become engaged again though, but I am also concerned when they state things like "...potentially using the points you accrue on the site to unlock discounts on your favourite games.", because it sounds like a license for them to become spammy with game product ads again. People weren't happy about it before, but will they be happy if our N4G points can be used towards the product spam? Time will tell.

Gamingsince1981196d ago (Edited 196d ago )

I think it also promotes people to submit as much trash articles as they can, which isn't a good thing. Also, this is the first time I have even seen or heard of these comps, and I'm on every day, weird

xHeavYx196d ago

It's a horrible idea xD
It gives people who do nothing but comment on articles (looking at you Obscure) another reason to go on their tirades. IMO the contest should be between everyone who logs in and comments, but if you want to force people to comment, just say that the more you comment, the higher your chance to win.

1Victor197d ago

Great idea but it have flaws as it favors those that are 24/7 posting inflammatory comments in defense/attack of other consoles. It should have a point deduction for inappropriate/trolling comments 🤷🏿

Crows90196d ago

Well I'd say you'd have to be an account in good standing.

thorstein196d ago

That sounds like [insert your favorite console here] talk!

Ha! Thanks for the points!

babadivad196d ago

That's 95% for of the users here anyway.

neutralgamer1992196d ago

Hopefully they will actually improve the site too because we should be able to reply to all comments. This way we can have a more direct conversation

Also some of the hardcore cult like fanboy accounts should be permanently banned. They add nothing to the discussion

JackBNimble196d ago

So im assuming you're referring to the other side , you know, the side that disagrees with you. Nothing like advocating for freedom of speech.

anast196d ago

We got our own little dictator in NG4. Maybe you should team up with Victor 1?

italiangamer197d ago

It's a nice thing to have 👍

jznrpg197d ago

I don’t post enough to be in the top 100 but who knows maybe I’ll get lucky. Personally I like the look of the slim and want to get one for my kids and who knows .

ModsDoBetter197d ago

I just checked the list rn and you're up there - top 50 rn

Eonjay197d ago

I came in 100 last time I checked.

Crows90197d ago (Edited 197d ago )

@Eonjay

Youre right above me so youre in!

Crows90197d ago

Im in the top 100. I post maybe 4-6 times a day..sometimes I skip a day. You're in the top 50 as @olMyerslo stated.

Jin_Sakai197d ago

Nice. I think it should be randomized from the top 100 though as it’s hard to get in the top 50 just by commenting.

-Foxtrot197d ago

Yeah we used to do this years ago and it was always the same dozen people so it stopped others from actually trying because it was like “what’s the point, not going to change the outcome”

Tal169197d ago

Understood - we have amended accordingly as we certainly don't want that to happen again

Tal169197d ago

Understood - we have changed in light of that feeback as think you're absolutely right.

specialguest197d ago (Edited 197d ago )

Yeah I was a winner of a $300 online gift card several years ago through a randomized contest for members with longest daily visits while logged in. I had no idea there was a contest, but it was a nice surprise

Husker42c196d ago

Apparently, beans are not cool.

coolbeans196d ago

Where did you hear that?!?!?

Seraphim196d ago (Edited 196d ago )

@coolbeans - must have heard it from the beans South of the mason dixon line. Those Northern beans, they be cooler than a polar bears toe nail, oh yeah....

MaximusPrime_196d ago

@coolbeans - sorry I forgot you're here. I got that phrase from Hot Rod movie and stuck with me since.. 😂

Kingdom Hearts series coming to Steam on June 13

Square Enix will release the PC versions of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind via Steam on June 13, the company announced.

gold_drake13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

damn, almost 3 years after it came out on the EGS

Battlestar236h ago

Awesome though i hope the collection is around 30/40 dollars as any higher would be unfair for those of us waiting for the anti gamer EGS exclusive deal to expire.

Well this can only mean one thing... more job layoffs even in the publication industry.

Jin_Sakai47m ago(Edited 45m ago)

“Layoffs occuring“

Yep. IGN now has a monopoly in the gaming media.

“As a result of the acquisition, some redundancies have been made across the UK-based organisation.”

“Gamer Network's publications are GamesIndustry.biz, Eurogamer (including six local language editions), Rock Paper Shotgun, VG247 and Dicebreaker. The business also holds shares in Outside Xbox, Digital Foundry and Hookshot (which operates Nintendolife, PushSquare, PureXbox and Time Extension).”

“IGN Entertainment is the division of Ziff Davis that includes IGN, MapGenie, HowLongToBeat, and Humble Bundle. It has acquired the websites from PAX and New York Comic-Con organiser ReedPop, which initially bought the Gamer Network business in 2018.“

Jingsing6m ago

When say IGN you mean Microsoft's chief propagandist.

Petebloodyonion19m ago

Probably Microsoft's fault!
They surely gave IGN the idea.
What's next IGN Pass?

But joke aside let's hope that this makes the news better compared to some of IGN branches

Jingsing4m ago(Edited 3m ago)

Microsoft and IGN work quite closely so it isn't a stretch to say this is a move to control the gaming press to get everyone singing from the Microsoft hymn sheet. Not a good look at all. It is transparent stuff like this which is backfiring in Microsoft's face. First they want control of all the games now the media.

Christopher11m ago

Oh boy! If we've learned one thing about recent news, corporate shrinkage of an industry via buyouts from those at top only leads to good things for employees and consumers!

Aloymetal6m ago

100%!!
IGN and Eurogamer...A match made in heaven!!

Lexreborn26m ago

Ummmm not sure that’s a good thing that all these review sites are under the same umbrella. There’s no guarantee that they will maintain a non-bias opinion not paid for by the highest bidder.
