If you own a 360 then you should definitely check out TGR's top ten 360 games for 2008. We've sorted through what the new year has to offer and are presenting what looks like the most promising anticipated games that you'll want to get your hands on.

WTF, No Prototype? No Fable 2?
Borderlands, BIA3:HH, Soul Calibur 4, Burnout Paradise, UT3 and few other games definitly are more worthy than some of the games on that list but hey, it's their opinon but I still believe they should have included Fable 2.
At least they haven't forgotten Fallout 3 like Game Informer did for PC.

Of course, I love RTS games, my PC is well crap, and I'm a huge fan of the Halo Universe. So I can agree with that. However, I doubt everyone is like me...

Yes, I'm excited about Halo Wars. I loved the LOTR: BFME2 game for 360, and so did my kids. They're excited by Halo Wars because they're hoping it gets a T and they'll be allowed to play something in the Halo universe. I don't let them near any M games.

NG2 looks great, but I have a feeling it will be just a brutally challenging as the original. And frankly, I play games to have fun, not to be frustrated to the point where I think I'll have an aneurysm. So NG2 will be a definite "pass" for me.

But thee are some titles missing here. I think Fable 2 isn't on this list because we're not likely to see it in 2008.

I would have preferred a list that was 360 exclusive, a PS3 exclusive feature, then a top 10 multiplat list. This list is far too multiplat-oriented to be called a 360 list.

There are to many games to shrink to only ten. I think these 10 do look good though. My pick would have been Star Wars: The Force Unleashed or EndWar

Remember that Oblivion got pushed off the launch window for the 360 and was delayed on the PS3 as well. I'll lay odds that Fallout 3 will be a spring '09 title. Unfortunately.

Unfortunately for the slaves who own a 360, none of these games have any exceptional appeal to them. The only exception being Ninja Gaiden 2, which will see a PS3 Sigma port to ensure that development costs are recouped.

2008 spells a bland, uninteresting year for the XBOX 360. Compare this to what Sony offers their consumers with the PLAYSTATION 3® platform and you will see Microsoft fall into a third place role.

Now, I love my PS3. And I can't wait for the top exclusives for my PS3. FFXIII/vsXIII, MGS4, LBP, Killzone 2, etc. I'm very excited for 08. However, PS3 games are not the only games I am excited for. My 360 will not be lonely in 08. Now I am not excited for most of the games on that list. They do not appeal to me (with the exception of NG2, Condemned 2, Fallout 3). The title of this post should have been "The Top Ten Anticipated Xbox 360 Titles of 08 for Mark Melnychuk." Cause I know it ain't my top 10 list. There is no Fable 2, Alan Wake, Too Human.

Wow, you're delusional. I agree that the 360 lineup is light for 2008. But you think PS3 is going to overtake the 360 in '08? Based on what, MGS4? FFXIII looks to be slated for an '09 release. And let's face it, MGS, for all its popularity, has actually been diminishing in sales throughout its franchise history. It will likely spur some sales of the PS3 in 2008, but not enough to catch up to the edge the 360 has.

Now if MSFT can't churn out some exclusive content similar to the year they've had in 2007, then surely the PS3 will have a chance to recoup their deficit... but it's gonna take more than one year to comeback from where they are.

Too Human not on the list is somewhat surprising, as is Alan Wake's absence.

I also would have expected to see Lost Odyssey on this list.

I too agree, with the exception of Gears2. I don't think that will come out til 09. But here's hoping.

BTW, you forgot Fable 2 :) One of my most wanted 08 games for either console.

The Xbox 360 has so many AAA titles coming out in 2008 that they were unable to fit in some of the best up and coming games for the platform. This goes to show how superior the Xbox 360s AAA lineup is over the PS3s one, which is tired and old full of uninspired sequels that simply won't sell.

Poor Sony, their new IP's bombed and so will their old ones, unless they Jump In to gaming heaven on Xbox 360

Once again, with all of the controversial AAA exclusives released in 2007, Microsoft simply could not generate any statements about their own future in the Tokyo Game Show and E3 conferences respectively. Combine the breathtaking PLAYSTATION 3® exclusives with ports of Mass Effect and Bioshock appearing on PS3 next year, PS3 owners and buyers will have the immense features that PS3 has to offer, plus the XBOX 360's best games.

As I recall 360 fans wants all the PS3 games to be on their system. I dont why you are getting happy with the list when all of is playable on the PS3. The list isnt even exciting. I can name only 2 good games on the 360 next year NG2 and Alan.. The rest is destine to be a failure especially too human..

I realise there are some games people are looking forward to that aren't on the list, but there was only room for 10. Believe me it was hard to exclude so many other great games, but just because they aren't there doesn't mean they aren't worthy.

You already have a 360? But you are planning to get new one next year.. I think you are better off with a PS3 in 0'8 they have a load of exclusive games to offer. The top 10 list of 360 games in 2008 i read through almost all of is multiple platform.

Only NG2 and Halo Wars are 360 only. I believe that MSFT focused on the 2H07 during E3 because they had a spectacular lineup to showcase... and I think (hope) that they have things for '08 that we just haven't seen yet. Because if this is their lineup, it doesn't inspire excitement.

Of course, I'll still be playing COD4 throughout 2008, so I guess they can take a break and give us good games in '09.

While I definitely agree that Sony has a strong 2008 due mostly to new installments of existing IP (MGS4, GT5, etc) and some new franchises (LittleBigPlanet looks amazing). I do think people are under-estimating the 360 side. My interests are definitely different than the list here:

- Alan Wake (assuming 2008)
- Gears of War 2 (assuming 2008)

Good chance of purchase (prefer to see demos first)

- Dark Messiah
- Elveon (assuming 2008)
- Project Offset (assuming 2008)
- Banjoo and Kazooie
- NG2
- Devil May Cry 4

Not sure if 2008:
- Infinite Undiscovery
- Last Remnant

As you can see, largely RPG-ish and doesn't include Arcade titles, of which there are plenty.

Anyway, as I said, I think when you read the feel of the overall gaming community PS3 sounds stronger than the 360, but 360 has a lot of games next year that will keep me very busy.

For RPG folks, the 360 is definitely in a good spot, particularly next year. I didn't include other Japanese hybrids like Operation Darkness either. The PS3 isn't quite there yet (for RPGs).

The breadth of titles on the 360 is actually pretty good. On top of what I mentioned there are a lot shooters, racing, sports, etc, games, with an increase in RTS games. The weaknesses are really platformers and adventure games.

Ratchet, Drake's, etc are really shining examples of good games that exploit that weaknesses on the 360. But those aren't really my kind of games. Every console has its virtues ... pick a console based on the games you want to play.

I will say, if blu-ray wins I will pick up a PS3 since Sony is doing a good job ensuring the PS3 is updated. That will also give me more options for gaming. I just don't feel compelled to buy yet since I have plenty of games to play for the foreseeable future on the 360 compared to the exclusive games that I would play on the PS3 from now and over the next year (Folklore, White Knight and Little Big Planet would be definites for me).
