You realize that games within a game are called mods right? They've been around since the dawn of pc gaming. Props to the creator because mods, even crappy mods like this take time and patience to make.

I talked about the game in general *facepalm* and
I have LBP2 and its Platinum trophy, the game is awesome.

But that doesn't change the fact that many user created levels has HUGE framrate drops and annoying screen tearing.

That's because custom users don't know how to optimise, and if MM restricted the number of textures on screen e.t.c. to help the performance, creators would moan that there's too many restrictions.

However, a few games that've come out recently do not suffer from any screen tearing at all.

That's the one thing that let's it down. As cool as it is to simulate the stomping, the camera shake makes it look anooying and twitchy and seems like a bug without the audio.

It took about a month to create. Most was made during the first week of starting it, but then I lost motivation due to other things such as work/training taking up a lot of my time. When the psn was down, I only spent a few hours creating on the weekends.

while I will look at a level like this and say AWESOME, I wont play it for fun because its not actually fun.

I normally stick to The platforming levels since thats what LBP2 is at its core so those are always the best levels in my opinion and those are strictly what I make.

LBP has a certain charm and its community is pretty huge and dedicated, if you dont like playing these type of levels like i said there are tons of amazing platforming/top down shooter levels out there that are as good as the official levels

I can recognize the talent in an LBP engine, not like it matters much for FPS, but this guy devotes himself to the game. The level itself is for some general wows and nothing more. Nobody is going to play this for fun, nobody is going to care after 10min. Steve has plenty of levels you can play that are fun and enjoyable. All in all it's impressive but it don't really matter at all in the context of gaming.

So people that criticize it have their view and others that gush have theirs. It is prehistoric as LBP's engine isn't made for this. Is it cool to see. Yeah. Was it worth the time to make it. Probably not. Steve knows what he is doing so I am sure it didn't take him near as long as it would with other people. LBP2 seems to still have horrendous screen tearing which I hope is minimized in more natural levels as it is VERY annoying.

This is a 2D (or 2.5D) engine and someone has created a bloody 3D fps out of it!

So to all you PC guys in this comment thread bitching...if you really want to impress, the only equivalent to this would be to make a 2D platformer using Crysis mod or another FPS mod to look as good as LBP!

It's not about that, most great mods have been done without any toolkits, like for example MTW2, I know, since I have been part of major mod in it. You keep bigger achievement to create something with ready tools, which apparently allows you to do this, since there is ONLY the tools you have been given, or something, like totally new full game out of other game, which give you no tools at all.

Just trying to say that "modding" in consoles is in baby steps still, but I'm damn glad expecially Sony has invested in this, but clearly this kind of content really don't look like much to PC-modders. Some people might be ignorant about it like you stated (me too maybe), but in most cases they are correct.

WOW i never thought they could do that with LBP2. I notice that the level has a ton of issues though. The lighting is terrible and the guys twitchy head movement is annoying. I also noticed some strange flikering.

if you search in the level, with teh right keywords ( tutorial , fps) you have editable levels that teach you how to have some basic fps controls..

but this one is one step higher it seems ... it's missing the crossbar but other than that it's pretty impressive ( enough to get LBP2 picks )

All aesthetics and no real depth to the gameplay. I realize it takes hard work and alot of time to make a level in LBP as good as this one, but it seems pointless.

If I was the person who created this, I'd be pissed that I couldn't continue making lots of unique enemies and dialogue and everything else that makes up an actual game. I don't want a "create" title that attempts to be a watered-down jack-of-all trades, I want something focused where I can create an actual game that people would want to play and not something to just look at and say "oh wow that looks really good for a LBP level".
