New HDMI 360s don't have 65nm

It took slightly longer than normal, but finally someone took the plunge and destroyed their warranty by cracking open their new 360 to check for the 65nm chip. But alas, it was all in vain, only confirming that no, the 65nm chip is not yet on the market. However, the added heatsink is there to combat the red ring of death. Hit the jump for the pictures.

People who aren't total fanboys would care. The 65nm (falcon) chipset would produce less heat and therefor be more reliable. I'm thinking about possibly getting a 360 sometime, but I'd want it to be a little more reliable. So it affects whether or not people want to buy it, which affects how successful your console is, and therefor how many games there are for the 360 and how many people play online.

even this new HDMI port doesnt support HDMI 1.3

x360 elite and newer revisions support only upto HDMI 1.2

should say Zephyr around the serial part of the box. The Zephyr board has the Benq DVD drive and added heat sinks. There are pictures scattered around the net with what to look for.

My Elite has the Benq drive and it's less noisy; but still louder than my PS3.

Whether the 360 has a 65nm chipset vs a 90nm chipset, both are going to make heat. All electronics create heat. It's a matter of what MS is doing to improve dispersal of said heat.

I really hope the Elite that comes out next Friday in the UK has the new 65nm but I think Microsoft are going to get rid off their inventory of old 90nm gpu and cpu's first...

probably not, and just wait to make sure you have the 65nm chipset, less heat, better chance with your 360, im going to wait to get one til i know it will last more than 6 to 9 months, cause im not going to change it 3 times for a refurbished one, and dont say im being some fanboy, same goes for my ps3 if it did that

What is so elite about having the console with just a 120gb hard drive?

Not really value for money it should have more hardware however if you look at the price of a premium in the UK at £280 its £50 more for an extra 100gb of space...However the £330 Elite price tag is still yet to be confirmed I hope it ends up being lower!

This is honestly half the reason I've been waiting to purchase mine. Personally I want more than a warranty to ensure that my box won't die, I live in an EXTREMELY humid environment, and have 2 co-workers with bricked consoles.

Microsoft really needs to get their priorities in order, figure out all of their pertinent future hardware revisions and get to work.

I think they should have saved the black scheme, 120GB HDD, HDMI, and 65nm processors for the Elite, slated for whatever the Hell would have been an appropriate release date.

Well the 65nm chips would have been nice but the 2nd heatsink will make a big diffrence in the amount of ROD'S and overheating the 2nd heatsink is attached to the heatsink on the GPU which has been causing the ROD the GPU is under the DVD-Drive this will also help the DVD-DRIVE stay cooler by keeping more heat away from it.

I've never gotten the red rings on my 360 but i have seen it before. but the 360 it happend to was my cousin's which had been sitting under a short entertainment stand under his sony HD tv for months on end so the 360 was hella dirty and the cooling system was probably clogged with dust. it overheated hella fast as we were playing forza 2.

my 360 isnt loud, it stays cool, and it's probably frozen like 2 times in the whole year i've owned it (Premium model purchased July 06) Maybe these few hundred or watever out of the millions of 360 owners that are experiencing these deficiencies dont take care of their consoles well enough
