Glad it has multiplayer to make up for the lack of time spent int he single player. It is certainly a great rental and I can't wait to see how it all plays out. I love the SC series but wish they would have taken it back tot he days of old. The new Sam is not the Sam many of us came to appreciate.

Sorry, but every time somebody pulls up Heavenly Sword as a great game I feel compelled to say that I disagree. The game was choppy as hell and the game mechanics weren't that great. However, production value was very impressive.

I can think of countless other PS3 exclusive (and multi-platforms) games that are a huge leap up from Heavenly Sword. With that said, I'm assuming people is bringing up HS due to the game length. To me it was short, but I really didn't notice and don't think it really is an issue.

The fact that SC:C actually has co-op and multi-player is a bonus. If the game is shorter then I'm expecting is a better experience to compensate for it. If it is 5-hours it better be a damn good 5-hours. From the reviews, it looks like SC:C will be.

I'm mostly a Sony fan but I wouldn't be a gamer if I didn't acknowledge that I didn't love playing Splinter Cell on PS2, so why would that change this gen?

PS3 has been getting awesome exclusive after awesome exclusive. Why can't you just say that it looks cool, and Gears 3 looks good too for that matter.

Anyways, back on topic. I'm surprised at the way some sites will hold length against a game in some cases but not in others? Whatever, wish they would have kept it more stealthy like back in the day but all in all looks like a good game.

Right now it is a 88.29 after just 14 reviews on gamerankings, so it should have never been regarded as a high profile exclusive. After 70 reviews it should hit 86%. Just because it is exclusive you xbox zealots like to hype up any game that is exclusive.

Now as far as PS3 exclusives scoring lower than 90% such as Uncharted 1 and Resistance those games are still technical achievements which were paving the ground for the exclusives of 2008 and 2009. Splinter Cell doesn't do anything. I'm not even going to rent this game.

I understand the Pro-Sony crowd's argument that PS3-exclusive games are unjustly criticized for length and/or lack of innovation. While sometimes this IS NOT true, whether people choose to admit it or not, there are others where this is exactly the case - a perfect example is Heavenly Sword. That game was A LOT of fun, even though it was shorter than a lot of other games, and really didn't deserve most of the harsh criticism that it received.

That beign said, most of the reviews that I've read so far and my own experiences from the demo tell me that there is quite a lot of innovation AND excitement going on in SC:C, even if the single-player campaign may be a little short. Add in the multiplayer modes and you've got a pretty nifty package that I can't wait to open when I get home from work tonight.

Conviction's stylish presentation and intuitive cover mechanics prove that Ubisoft can make a highly polished product, but for the amount of game you get, the price seems sorely inflated. I enjoy short games much more than overlong, 20-some-odd-hour affairs, and Conviction completely cuts everything from its story that doesn't serve both the narrative and the action; the game clearly puts quality above quantity and I appreciate that immensely. Just making the game longer definitely wouldn't have made it better, but even with multiple playthroughs (not that you earn anything new or get different endings for successive attempts), it's hard to recommend the AAA price tag.

Most single player games are at least 8 hours or better (inFamous, God of War 3, MGS4, Heavy Rain, Batman AA, PoP, RE5, etc. etc. etc.).

This will be definitely worth the money. Was kind of scared from early reviews but shouldve known better since ign review was almost spot on. Great review though.

Lets just remember now that they let the short campaign have slack lets hope these game sites be fair with "EVERY GAME" out there that is short but does a great job at what its suppose to do, and thats delivering a great experience no matter how short the game is.

I totally understand where u coming from but a good example is god of war 3 which is a single player game only & im on my 3rd playthrough but im having alot of trouble beating it on titan difficulty but enjoying every minute of it even though I wanna tear some of my hair out sometimes lol. I think ill enjoy SCC the same but not sure the difficulty in SCC will be insanely hard as god of war 3.

Heavy Rain actually has a lot of re-playability. Chances are there will be at least a few major plot lines that get drastically changed during your first playthrough. And once you finish Heavy Rain, you'll want to see what could have been.

God of War 3 is different. There is the challenge of Olympus that opens up (Similar to Batman AA challenges) to do once you beat the game and if you have the mental fortitude, you can try to beat it on Titan Mode.

You may want to play these games before you make remarks that show you definitely didn't.

In May/June all you Xbox fanboys have is Alan Wake. While that game may look good, it definitely doesn't look amazing. The PS3 has two good looking exclusives, and I think that makes you a little sad. You obviously don't have a PS3, so you can't try either game. I have a PS3, 360, and Wii, by the way, so don't say that I'm a PS3 fanboy.

FYI, Modnation Racers is all about insane customization as well as racing. It's a hell of a lot better than Mario Kart. 3D Dot Game Heroes is an old-school Zelda-like game that looks to be great for more old-school appeal. That was just a quick description for you, since you obviously only pay attention to 360 games.

Honestly, the only truly good 360 exclusives in the first half of this year have turned out to be Splinter Cell Conviction, Mass Effect 2, and (possibly) Alan Wake. Mass Effect was really great, Conviction looks pretty good, but short, and Alan Wake looks promising, but I'm quite skeptical.

The PS3 exclusives are God of War III (which is incredible), Heavy Rain (haven't played, but have heard great things), MAG, which was pretty good, Modnation Racers, and 3D Dot Game Heroes (both of which look very fun).

Have fun being stuck with one console and playing your 3 exclusives. I have a bunch of exclusives to play across 3 platforms (although I'll most likely stay far away from the Wii games).

Bioshock 2: On ps3 runs with vsync and triple buffering yet the 360 version gets nod from them.....

GTA IV 100 IGN ~ IGN gave GTA IV a 10 in graphics. They stated they award a 10 not because the game is perfect but because a title is pushing the envelop. That means the title was beyond anything else out there in graphics and that is a joke

Edge gave GoW3 an 8 when they gave Bayonetta a 10 and ODST a 9 as well as also claimed Halo 3 "most INNOVATIVE title of '07 / '08, awarding it a 10/10 while only releasing a score of a 5 for the PS3 version of FF13 for metacritic and not one for the 360! Edge gives 360 exclusives 4 points less than the Metacritic average.

On meta ME2 has 96 for 360, out of 96+ reviews only 1 rated it below 90... yet the superior PC version has a meta of 94, from 52 reviews and it has 8 reviews under 90... what is going on there? the only explanations i can think of is either reviewers inflate the 360 scores out of bias or they just have lower standards... can you think of any other possible reasons? PS3 games always gets put through the mill and nitpicked! so for me the fact that U2 got a meta of 96 is truely astonishing, whereas ME2 getting 96 is expected because like i said either reviewers inflate their scores for 360 or they have lower standards. now im not saying ME2 is a bad game by any means, but up there with U2? and THIS is why a lot of Playstation 3 fans cry foul at the gaming media these days. there is a clear, traceable BIAS and double standard being displayed.

Bioshock on the PS3 played EXACTLY like the 360 version. it even had some extra challenge maps, and the visuals were only SLIGHTLY less than the 360 version, and it got docked points.

Oblivion on the PS3 actually looked better on the PS3, but because it came out a year later, it was docked points.

Assassin's Creed 2 apparently looked slightly worse than the 360 version (i bought the PS3 version, and thought it looked great), and was docked points.

Bayonetta looked worse on the PS3, but still had the exact same game play experience, and it got docked points.

this isn't just PS3 fans farting in the wind here. there is countless examples of ports being marked lower on the PS3 for reasons even LESS than what we're seeing with FFXIII on the 360, and yet the gaming media REFUSES to do the fair, consistent thing and mark the 360 version, at the least, .5 lower than the PS3 version.

and why WON'T they mark it down? "because the differences aren't that big a deal."

and they WERE on the many PS3 ports that weren't noticeably different unless you, literally, did a side by side comparison, and even THEN, the differences were minimal?

this is BULLSH*T, and the gaming press should be ashamed of themselves.

i NEVER want to see a PS3 multi-platform title getting docked for points again for "graphical differences" after this point.

it has nothing to do with PS3 fanboyism, but about what is RIGHT and FAIR. so far this generation, the gaming media has thrown what is right and fair out of the window time and time again to pander to sensationalism.

I have felt this way exactly, and the proof is in the pudding, the blatant bias towards 360 games have gotten out of control and you have proved it with nothing but facts and evidence. I personally believe Microsoft has a huge hand in this with the media and is paying them off, there is not other explanation for this behavior. I will be saving your post for use in the future as evidence.
And since this article is about splinter cell, I find it laughable IGN scored this as high as God of War 3, its like ohhh ps3 got a AAA game rated 9.3, so we have to give the next xbox exclusive atleast a 9.3! a 5 hr campaign? 5 hours???? I remember Heavenly Sword getting ripped apart because it was a 6 hour game but that came out in 2007 and ps3 was not even out for a year! And now xbox360 is into its 5th year and they get a complete free pass on releasing a campaign thats 5 hrs and a game that runs in sub hd 576p. Wow, just wow. Did you see the presentation score on IGN for GoW3, a 8.5??? Presentation wise, that game has done things ive never seen done before in a videogame and it gets an 8.5, talk about bias, the graphics set a new standard and get a 9.5 while Modern Warefar 2 scores a 10, utter insanity.

I think what's even more bothersome is I really feel ps3 has been pushing the boundries with its game this generation, from setting graphical standards over and over from MGS4 to Killzone2 to Uncharted 2 to Heavy Rain to GoW3 - setting new gameplay standards and the whole idea of play-create-share with little big planet and the upcoming ModNation Racers, and all the media is scoring these generic bullsh*t xbox games just as high, or even higher. I mean God of War 3 set a new standard for graphics (720p) and gameplay and IGN scores that the same as Splinter Cell with sub HD graphics, some pretty generic animations and a 4 yr development cycle resulting in a 5hr campaign... yeah right.

And what is this garbage with IGN and a bunch of other sites saying GoW3 does not add much new gameplay wise? thats a compete lie, I just beat GoW 1 and 2 right before 3 came out and it is no comparison, in 3 you have the ability to switch between 4 primary weapons on the fly using L1 + x, you can link many nasty combos while seamlessly switching between 4 primary weapons AND ontop of that you can link in the secondary weapons (helios light beam, bow and arrow and hermes boats) into those combos as well. I was able to link 1000 hit combo while seamlessly switching between SEVEN, yes SEVEN different weapons. The air juggling was ablso revamped and the fact that you can also air juggle while switching between these weapons... None of this was possible in the previous god of wars. It makes me think this idiots played thru the game on easy not having to utilize any of these abilities, or they are just blatant liars. I went into GoW3 coming right off of beating 1 and 2, and 3's gameplay is WAY WAY more advanced than 1 and 2 combined, countless things are done gameplay wise that were not possible in 1 and 2, and I have not even begun to talk about the gameplay in the boss battles, like the Chronos battle. The media is totally biased against ps3

Sorry but I strongly believe if you weigh scores that are UNVERIFIABLE (by all accounts) then you are fudging numbers. Period. 

It makes asolutely no sense why this is done or why you can't or won't explain/show these "weighted scores" to the public. N4G doesn't do this and neither does it leave out a major review site/tv show like Xplay. Thus N4G's meta rating is by far better, as it's TRULY accurate to what is really the average.

Again, here are some first samples of clarity that some people fail to know about (SEE BELOW). Because either they can not read and only watch trailer reviews. Or they just want to justify their ignorance. A person really needs to play the entire game through (not rushing it). Focus on its entirety. Not on one part of the game. And expect it all to represent the full game.

The door swings both ways fanboys. The biggest problem this gen is that fanboys demand inflated game scores. I remember when a game that scored a 7 was still a damn good game and 9s were only reserved for games that made you into a zombie husk version of yourself cause you couldnt put them down. 10s were only for games that reinvented genres all together. but now we are barely beginning this gen and i can already name 3 games that have perfect 10s. The game looks cool, but the short length has put me off a definite purchase. I also don't like the action orientated direction Splinter Cell has taken in this game, I prefered it how it was before imo.

I think it's good Ubisoft have tried something different, credit to them for that, but it's not really for me, judging by what I have seen and read so far, but I'll make a full judgement when I play it.

I had the gf buy me the game as part of her anniversary gift to me. Best Buy had the collectors edition for the same price as the regular edition? so it sweetend the deal. I really liked the demo alot but I can see how diehard stealth fans could be upset. I personally like the more upbeat bourne feel to it... Sam is more balls to the walls and I dig him more like that!

I feel it was the best way to kill time till Alan Wake!

P.S. = I also pre-ordered Mod Nation Racers at Best Buy also... you get a exclusive Nathan Drake character skin and car... I was suckered in cause I love the Uncharted series so much, haha.
