Yeah I wonder if the Xbox 360+ will get a redesign. A new mobo was confirmed as a part of that 360+ rumor which would eliminate all the 360's issues thus allowing smaller models to be possible. Microsoft reported they fixed all the errors permanently awhile back but they still have not implemented whatever tech they have no that fixes all that into the current 360s so it MUST be the 360+. A slim make would probably be cool.

Its pretty cool and all but who ever did this was simply trying to make you think it CAN be this slim, but it cant, notice no disk slot? Because that would add quite a bit of height to it. Also RROD on this would go like crazy!

There was a issue with Nvidia not wanting to renew their contract to manufacturer Xbox GPU's for what ever reason hence the early demise of the console. I'm sure Microsoft would have wanted to keep it in demand since the predecessor consoles tend to sell pretty well when the successors are released.

No, dude, that's wrong.

For the original xbox, MS souced all components from manufacturers, without owning the design of the components.

As time went on, MS was unable to reduce the manufacturing cost of the xbox1, because the designs were owned by the manufacturers.

In effect, Nvidia was making a tidy profit on its xbox1 graphics card.
MS tried to reduce the cost by negotiating with nvidia, but nvidia was milking its contract for all it was worth.

Thus, the xbox hardware cost could not be reduced, due to the greed of contracting companies, including nvidia.
The xbox 1 thus HAD to be continued due to this flawed business model.

However!

For the 360, MS had learned its lesson.
MS ditched Nvidia and negotiated a design/manufacturing deal with ATI (now AMD).

MS now OWNS all the designs for its 360 hardware and has complete control over the cost reduction process.

Ironically, it is now the PS3 that recently had to source a Nvidia graphics design, which is NOT owned by sony and cannot be cost reduced by Sony!

I certainly wonder if this decision is affecting ps3 profitability?

It is not "sourced", it was co-developed by Sony, i.e. a modified G70 GPU for PS3 unlike the Xbox GPU which was basically slapped on the motherboard next to a celeron. Sony does own the rights to this, that's why they can ask Toshiba to manufacture the GPU for them:
