Jack Thompson to sue Kotaku parent company

Controversial Miami attorney Jack Thompson has named Gawker Media, parent company of the popular game blog Kotaku, in a lawsuit before a federal court in Florida.

Thompson's ire was apparently raised by Kotaku reader comments which the attorney maintains are threatening. He also alleges in the complaint that Kotaku and Gawker declined to remove the menacing posts. The messages in question stem from Kotaku's coverage of Thompson's claims that video games prompted last week's Virginia Tech massacre.

The Gawker suit is actually an amendment to an action Thompson filed on March 13th against the Florida bar. On April 11th he amended it to include the members of the Florida Supreme Court. And now Gawker joins the list of defendants.

the more he does that the more of a fool he looks like. Just like with MSNBC.

Even though i do wish he would just shut up.

Hey since jack is so paranoid about what people write about him, i hope he reads this.

1. Why sue a video game company when they are under the first amendment, and have ratings on their games? They are only expressing themselves, and the box gives warning to people. They just have to read it.

2. Since that is true, why not go after parents and educate them instead of blaming everything on video games? After all they should be monitoring what their kids watch. Why should the company babysit someone elses kid, especially when there is a rating on the box?

3. He takes some studys and preaches about them yet leaves out ones against his agenda such as the juvenile crime rate being very low especially when violent videogames are way much more prevalent.

4. he is very insensitive. Just look at what he did with the VT situation.

5. Violence does have an effect on people, but not as much as he makes it to be. Many times when someone sees something bad, and with good reason, they want to over exaggerate it to make it seem more scarier and its wrong. Thats exactly what hes doing!

Im just glad people are starting to realize how nuts he is.

This guy says he's trying to save lives. No he isn't! He's on a revenge spree. He should be burned at the stake as far as I'm concerned. Go and find some people who really want to save lives by getting rid of guns in the US, lowering poverty etc etc...improving foriegn policy (finger points at the UK as well...the worst place in Europe to bring up kids)

Why Indie Games Fail To Keep Their Place In The Spotlight

A look into the sad trajectory of indie games from high successful releases to complete irrelevancy in just a few weeks or months.

Easy not enough developpers to add content to the game (palworld)

That's the thing with gaming there's always new experiences to have why spend months or years playing a single game when there's a new experience right around the corner.

Indie or AAA if your building your game expecting long term player counts you'll probably be disappointed as gamers often enjoy something for a few weeks and move on only to return if it's truely a classic.

Out of all the generations I've experienced there's games from 30 plus years ago I still dust off and play like super Mario bros, earthbound, vice city and san Andreas being games I treasure and revisit every few years but I'm not going back to play a game designed to keep me engaged for months on end because it's also designed to milk my wallet in most cases.

Build a great game that people love make it playable offline and ask does it matter if the concurrent player count is under 100 a year post launch more often that not it doesn't

The price of entry is too high to take chances like I used to. Was looking at V Rising and that ranges from $50-$130 CAD. That’s a lot for an indie imo. By the time it goes on sale, the player count might be dwindling. But that’s the trade-off, I guess.
