PSP Go: Sony's Beta Test for PSP 2

Today Nick McCandless from TheGamerAccess.com talks about the PSP Go taking the place of a beta for the PSP 2 and helping Sony decide the fate of the PSP 2.

Personally I feel that it's a bit too early to talk about the psp2 but I do see where you're coming from. Does Sony want to cut the middle man out entirely or do they want to have their games digital only? Really, I think one solution that they could do is actually put their games on memory sticks if people decide to buy them at retailers. Once they buy them that way the can either upload the game from the stick to the new psp or the could play off of it if it's at all possible. Other than that, I really don't know too much of what Sony is thinking about in regards to their PSP franchise. Will the Go! fail or succeed? Only time will tell. And regardless of whether you and I feel that this generation is ready for the generation only to rely on digital distribution isn't really for us alone to say.

I must disagree on the fact of not being ready to talk about the PSP2. I believe that this is how the race in the gaming industry should be done. As far as the memory sticks go, it will always be appealing to people to have to not buy an add-on just to play any hand-held or console. That's the reason for making the PSP Go so small and compact. It's less weight for people to lug around. As far as this system being the same price as the original PSP, I believe that Sony is banking on the original PSP's success when it first came out to carry over to this product too.

The only reason i think it would be good for sony to do digital distribution would be to make games bigger than the 1.5 gigs that umd had. I hope they take some time thought and make sure it can't be pirated because that is what killed the last psp. As for beta testing for psp 2. I don't think thats what there doing. They need to majorly overhaul the psp before the release the psp 2.

I still can't figure out the reason why people wants to put their faces on the net instead of working their fingers and typing.
They're absolutely boring.
You're not devs, you're not Keighleys nor Rubenstein and you don't have unseen videos, so why bother to watch your stuff?
Try to be more humble.
People might be interested in your stuff, but that doesn't mean that they will accept to see your stuff.
If you write something I can skip some lines and go to the point of my interest.
If you make a vid I'm forced to see you blabber for at least 10 minutes and then I get pissed and don't care about your stuff anymore.

How long has the PSP with the original performance specs been out? I think it's about time Sony made a full-fledged successor to the PSP. It's nice to see Polyphony Digital making a game like Gran Turismo Portable with such high quality visuals and features, and it makes me excited to see what kind of quality games can be made on more powerful hardware. The PSP GO is kind of like an in-between console, and unfortunately if a lot of people do purchase it, then how will Sony justify the purchase of the PSP2 when it does come out, because I assume within a couple years it will be time for the PSP2.

I am actually glad that they did not announce a PSP 2 and this is why. If they announced the PSP 2 it would launch sometime between late this year and late next year. This would cause Sony to focus on brand new hardware instead of focusing on what they really need to at this point being the PS3.

Then why launch the PSP Go at all? What's the point? They could just concentrate their funding on making more games. They are still launching new hardware with the PSP Go, it's just that the PSP Go is not more powerful than the PSP.

I think what we get with PSP2 will be greatly influenced by the PSPGo.
