Goldeneye > Halo

That is all.

TheColbertinator5439d ago

Yeah I guess your right.Although sometimes I think Perfect Dark was more fun on the multiplayer split screen

XxBarretxX5438d ago

Halo CE: was epic
Halo 2 was a little worse and they took out my fav gun but still a 9.1 4 me
GAYLO 3 Rushed Garbage that they made to sell on the name Halo

-MD-5438d ago

If Goldeneye is the best FPS ever and Perfect Dark was an improved version of Goldeneye in pretty much every way then the 360 will become home to the greatest FPS of all time when it hits the arcade in the coming months right?

Ouch.

TheDeadMetalhead5438d ago

You're just now getting Perfect Dark, and you're bragging about it? Nintendo 64 owners got to play it 9 years ago. ;o

-MD-5438d ago

I played it to death on N64 so nice fail post.

TheDeadMetalhead5438d ago

And you're going to buy the same game twice?

-MD-5438d ago (Edited 5438d ago )

The really funny thing here is the fact that I never bought it I just borrowed it from a friend.

Edit: Have you ever bought a port of a game? If so you're a massive hypocrite.

Poopface the 2nd5438d ago (Edited 5438d ago )

PD was great, only problem was the framerate sometimes. But there all good FPS, and each and every one of the games I mentioned offered a great multiplayer modes.

you guys may hate on halo 3, but Ill give it props for having 4-player splitscreen matchmaking. As far as I know, The only other game that lets 4 people play online together with one console would be halo 2. Most people dont know about it, but having 3 roomates n collage, it is a great feature to have.

EDIT- LOL guy above. I will probably buy PD again for 360, and guess what. I still have my N64 and PD. Why am I buying it? Cause it will have its framerate fixed and playing it online with the same friends I used to play GE and PD on the 64 with will kick balls. Also Im a FPS FIEND. If I listed all the FPS Ive owned you peeps would sh@t your pants. And most of them were good enough to rebuy.

-MD-5438d ago

Most people that exclusively own a PS3 don't have real life friends therefore hate Halo 3.

Goldeneye is epic. I miss the old Rare...

Ausbo5439d ago

in fact i am going to play it again.
I just wish nintendo would come to their senses and allow a re-release on xbla

SinnedNogara5438d ago

This game MUST come to Virtual Console!! And HVS must make a remake (that would be very cool).

Golfcoachh5438d ago (Edited 5438d ago )

but after playing it about a month ago, it just doesn't compare to some of the things out their today. I also played the original resident evil, and I must say I loved it then, but man it sucked now. Once you are used to the new controls, graphics, its just really hard to play those old games. Its hard to look at them. Just my opinion, but I think those games were great once, but they don't compare to today's games.

After watching the video and seeing the "bad guys" running around and not actually shooting at you, I remember why I love cod4 and the like. Ai in golden eye was not that good. Take off the rose colored glasses.

Killjoy30005438d ago

I played both Goldeneye and Perfect Dark everyday for years. Even if it meant sitting down and playing for like 5 minutes. That was some incredible gaming. And since I was a little kid, it was even better.

Natsu X FairyTail5438d ago

A racing version...my god rare...what were you thinking.

BRACHATTACK5438d ago

Just because it was one of the first doesn't mean it is the best!

I had way more fun with COD 4.

ChrisGTR15438d ago

...you probably had no friends to play coop and versus on the 64

Poopface the 2nd5438d ago (Edited 5438d ago )

I really like the multiplayer in COD4 too, but I find the single player campaign in COD4 to be lacking hardcore. Some missions were great, dont get me wrong, but nearly endless respawning enemies is something from the goldeneye era.

Also COD 4's splitscreen multi is horrendous.

Golden eye was a pioneer in many ways and showed us that movie games can be good.

The thing with COD is that there are many like it today, back in the day there was nothing like goldeneye out there.

Maybe I liked it a lot cause Id lay down the azz woopin on my friends. They wernt as good at aiming with the c buttons as me. and who can forget the arguments about no one being Odd job.

Ill never forget the frustration of beating the "control" level on 00 mode. Protecting Natalya was very frustrating.

^^Goldeneye had no co-op, unless you count the control scheme where it would take two controllers to move bond in the SP part. One was like shoot and aim, while the other moved If I remember right.

ChrisGTR15438d ago

oh thats right! lol perfect dark is the one that had coop with that one expansion cartrige thing lol. but damn man that facility level was just something so memorable, did anyone ever shoot the scientists so many times that they took out a gernade and blew everything up? hahaha they took out a gun but you shot them like 2 more times and theyd start taking out nades.

Goldeneye is still a lot of fun to play, especially when you have 3 friends over and slappers only is activated.

Single player or co-op, I usually have like one competitive MP game on the side I'll play for a couple years, BF used to be my go to but 2042 sucks and I haven't really found a good replacement

chrisx386d ago (Edited 386d ago )

I'll take Single Player over MP today, yesterday, forever.

Flawlessmic385d ago

Yep single player all day, everyday and twice on sundays!!!

1Victor385d ago

I prefer single player but don’t mind a fun addictive 3rd person shooter like Warhawk and Starhawk

RpgSama385d ago

Single player games 999 times out of 1000

blackblades385d ago

Always gotta have that 1 MP for that fun competive entertainment.

PhillyDillyDee385d ago

Im the exact same. Used to play BF all the time until they ruined it.

isarai385d ago

I miss that awestruck experience when I'd play BF4 in my ps4 for the first time, or the extremely defined classes of the bfbc games

Markdn385d ago

Yeah I prefer single player, but I do like the way destiny let's you casually drop in to public events and leave whenever, don't like the crucible mind.

neutralgamer1992385d ago (Edited 385d ago )

single player games

MP games are like work now with their seasons and battle passes. For most with family, work etc, there just isn't enough time to play

Notellin384d ago

Yeah then you throw in esports and twitch and there is no way I can keep up. The kids are getting practice and watching film.

Knushwood Butt384d ago (Edited 384d ago )

These days almost exclusively single player, but I have over 600 hours in Uncharted 4 MP.

Last thing I played online was Returnal co-op with randoms.

You know what? I could play Returnal again and I have 250 hours on it.

Single Player

Having developers create rich, lore filled worlds and giving us great single play driven stories always appeal more to me. When developers do multiplayer games it always feels the effort just hasn't been put into it, like they are expecting replay value and overall fun to come from gamers gaming with each other, especially with close friends.

Rather having a well crafted level that will capture you and draw you in they'd rather create a short generic like level which you need to grind over and over with your party. It's like they are hoping you are so distracted playing with your friends, talking amongst yourselves that you won't realise and when you finally do click on and start to get bored they'll flash a shiny new update or expansion in your face which really is just the rest of the game you WOULD have gotten it if was purely single player.

The reason for that is by playing by yourself you don't have any distractions and you are concentrating more on the world on screen. You then start to notice if the gameplay is short, repetitive, not fun, buggy, generic etc which is why developers have to try harder when doing single player games. I always feel that's why developers want GaaS titles because it doesn't mean more money for them but less work as you drip feed the game content.

IMissJimRyan385d ago

Both.
I like tits growing games like jrpg and rage inducing games like Rocket League.

sadraiden385d ago

Genuinely curious what you meant about "tits growing games like jrpg".

IMissJimRyan385d ago

It's about my own tits. They grow when I play those games.

GoodGuy09385d ago

Singleplayer. But it is fun to play pvp/e MP at times.

Are There Too Many Remakes?

There’s been a lot of remakes in 2023 like Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space with plenty more on the way, and Kurt can’t help but ask: is this a good thing?

ZeekQuattro395d ago

Short answer. No. Long answer. Hell no!

isarai395d ago

Nah, actually without a lot of these remakes I would forget why I loved gaming in the first place. So hard to just get a straightforward complete game out the box these days, remakes help fill that void considerably

jambola394d ago

no
there's hundreds of games every year
a handful are remakes
maybe it's because they are good remakes they stick with us

outsider1624394d ago

Not until we get
MGS4
Tenchu 1 and 2
SOCOM
KILLZONE 2
im sure there are other gems. These are a few of my favorites

merlox394d ago

Why not a remake or a remaster of the Resistance series?

RaiderNation394d ago (Edited 394d ago )

I mean, Ive enjoyed them. So I cant sit here and say there's too many. For the most part they've all been very good remakes. As long they remain of high quality and people are buying and enjoying them, I think its fine. They help fill the gaps between new releases. This year alone Ive beaten The Last of Us Part 1, RE4, Metroid Prime Remaster, and Dead Space and I loved every single one of those games.

Goldeneye on Xbox Game Pass is a bitter disappointment

Compared to the abandoned 360 remaster, this re-release is a painful reminder of what could have been.

MIDGETonSTILTS17477d ago

It still blows me away that Xbox couldn’t secure online multiplayer for this…. Like, why even bother then?

Number1TailzFan477d ago

Both versions should've had cross platform online play, and both versions should have been the unreleased remaster, with optional original n64 mode.

_SilverHawk_476d ago

Remove " goldeneye on" and it'll be a correct statement

Profchaos477d ago

It should have been the cancelled rare remake that was a total rebuild of the game but we got poor emulation instead

CobraKai476d ago

I didn’t know it existed until i this version came out. OMG. I want that remake.

warriorcase476d ago

You can play it on PC via emulator and it's pretty good. The remake was shelved when Nintendo blocked it's release because it was Xbox exclusive at the time and Nintendo being part owner of the title wasn't having any of it.
The licensing right for Goldeneye are a mess.

badz149476d ago

$70bil to splurge on ActiBliz, they can't even get right what they already owned!
