Crytek responds to latest Crysis console rumours

Crytek has responded with "no comment" to a query regards the latest speculation on Crysis coming to console that's doing the rounds.

The latest gossip about the shooter heading to console started off the back of an advert for a PS3 programmer appearing on Crytek's website, the responsibilities of the role including "Cross platform code development".

Crysis will be ported to either PS3 or XBOX 360, or both. Console gaming market is huge, so why miss opportunity to make even more money ('cause it's all about money). Current consoles have DirectX 9 capable hardware, so they'll probably make some changes graphics wise...

That article was posted Aug of 2006... Before the ps3 was even out... We still dont know the limitations of the ps3 let alone before it was released. Ea may see some life at the end of the tunnel for the ps3

Running it on consoles obviously wont give the same expirence as a high end PC...

Only version I would consider would be the Ps3 if they allowed Keyboard and Mouse.

Crysis (or maybe an original IP with the Cry2 engine is more likely) will run alot better on my PS3 than on my 6 year old PC. Bring it on.

id highly doubt that this game is anything that ps3 cannot handle it has only been 6 months into the ps3s life cycle the machine will never max out and from the games i already see out for the ps3 i surely dont see this game as over impressive as games that are in the making or comming in the future for the ps3 and when you see killzone 2 you will truely see that crysis is past due for the ps3 and what does a crytec developer no about the ps3 or any of you you didnt build the machine the machine is built to go into the 4d era and it will think about the hardware inside the machine and you will see that this game is childsplay for the ps3 RSX + Cell (supercomputer) + Blue Ray and all this combined with the right amount of money and a good enough developer games that are comming for the ps3 will make this look like super metroid on super nes i mean have you seen the screens for Final Fantasy 13 they have said it looks even better than the e3 2006 trailer and when i hear that it makes me even further shut out those that say anything has or will surpass the ps3 the ps3 was designed to make cutscene and movie graphics and further in the 2008-B3yond 4d graphics will surface for the first time ever in a game realtime so i truely dont see this game being all that to consider what is soon coming for the ps3 and by the way does this crytek developer truely understand how the ps3 works if not ill tell him first of all the ps3 and the 180 are not the same and do not work the same and ps3 also doesnt work the same as pcs

1st- RSX a highly powerful graphic chip that will show you very soon that what you think is old and out done by the newcomers may suprise you and it will first of you see the specs of the RSX and you say that the graphics chip is weak or it is 2 year old hardware and has ram restrictions well that may seem to be the case on paper but there is some things that are not on paper with the RSX the chip has hidden features like say Yu-Gi-Oh cards the card Slither the Sky Dragon the card didnt look all that strong but the hidden ablility was that for every card the card drawer drew the higher Slithers attack points became and also for every card that the opposite card drawer drew and played slithers second mouth destroyed well i said all that to say this what appears weak aint always weak and also this card was ancient but was one of the most powerful cards in the show just like many people see in school the skinny guy to be the ideal person to bully because youd think he has no strength just like me but infact i am one of the most or the most feared people in my school so dont nock this graphic card yet already in the first 6 months of the ps3s life the card has proven so many wrong and the ps3 is not being utilized in the way that sony built the machine i cant wait til they make games the way that sony built the machine then the next gen will start.

2nd- Cell this is a chip that is built years ahead of our time many would think that this type of hardware isnt even needed at this time why put a supercomputer inside of a gaming machine first off ill tell you if you are going to acheive graphics that were usually only availible in cutscenes or movies in real time then you will need a supercomputer duh, but infact in a way this chip is somewhat superior to a supercomputer and you will see why in due time.

3rd- Blue Ray this Disk and player is going to usher in the 4d era thinks to Cell and RSX and itself a super smart move on sonys part that many may not be able to see now but will down the road see many people see this as just a movie player for HD or a way to sell Blue Ray faster but what you dont know is that Blue Ray is most of all a part of the ps3s graphics this disk format and disk player is way ahead of our time but you and this crytek guys minds arent on any level of the japanese and they did build this machine so i dont know why listen to him he of course would make that statement because he has pride for his pcs but that pride WILL WILL WILL WILL be shattered by the ps3 talking about jaws dropping that will be nothing compared to what the ps3 will be showcasing in due time.

To wrap it all up the reason why games on the ps3 havent already completely blown away all games and all that are coming out with the games that are already on sale for the ps3 is only because is because you know how i told you that no one has used the ps3 how it was built well no one has Syncronized and merged RSX and Cell together and are not utilizing Blue Ray correctly either and yet the current way that the ps3 is running and RSX and Cell seperately the graphics are still yet amazing also no one is risking money in the way that guerilla games is with killzone 2 and i asure you this game already looks better than the trailer even after that point of killzone 2 that will still only be the tip of the iceburg for the ps3 and you can bank on that plus developers are only just getting edge tools telling you to be completely honest i wouldnt expect 180 and pc to even be in a range of the ps3 anymore not for very much longer just wait until developers risk the type of money on games as guerilla games is with the time and the 120 developers i guarantee there will be a technological gap and i know what many are saying at the time you say that the ps3 is 2 years old WRONG WRONG WRONG WROng ps3 was built with future hardware how do you expect our American hardware to stand up to Japanese hardare and their Geniouses their technology is far ahead of ours they already have built the first car that can hover of of the ground and so much other stuff americans can only dream of they have built a supercomputer on a chip and yes that was the Japanese branch of IBM that created the chip so saying that i am saying this the ps3 is never old Blue Ray still is incredibly new, RSX is very new much newer than you'll ever know, and Cell???the milky way is the limit so saying everything in all truth please dont write the ps3 of with such a miniscule level of graphics it like saying michael jordan cant play basket ball come on like saying Russia has no nukes, like Tom Brady has no super bowl rings, like there isnt 365 days in a year come on if you want to give the ps3 a challenge please challenge it with maybe something like a movie in a theater not something made by pc ps3 is spc super computer pc gaming machine wrong class of machines please try again

RSX is a stripped down geForce 7900:

RSX has 256MB at 22.5GB/sec
7900 has 512MB at 51.2GB/sec

RSX has 8 Render outputs
7900 has 16 render outputs

RSX runs at 550Mhz
7900 runs at 650Mhz

It's still a DirectX 9 GPU with Shader Model 3.0 support, which means most of the new DirectX 10 featurs (effects) will have to be toned down. Graphics is rendered by RSX, not CELL. CELL is very powerful (no doubt about that), but still is very hard for developers to master. On the other side, RSX is much slower (weaker) than, say, geForce 8800GTX or ULTRA, or those two put in SLI... ;)

But, as I said in one of the different posts, PS3 will never have graphics that better than XBOX 360 to put the XBOX 360 games to shame, and I don't really think that's important...

You're right about that, but still it's a fact that Crysis is DX10 game, and PS3 is DX9 capable (Still, I'm not saying that PS3 can't run the damn thing)...
