IGN: E3 2009: Final Fantasy XIV - What We Know

Square Enix surprised everyone on Tuesday when it announced at Sony's E3 press conference that not only would Final Fantasy XIII hit stores next year, but so too will Final Fantasy XIV Online -- a follow-up MMO from the same team that brought you Final Fantasy XI in 2002. But the information flow didn't stop there. On Wednesday, Square Enix also held a press conference of its own to provide some additional context to the previous day's news. But honestly, IGN still wasn't satisfied with how much FF14 info was out there, so they managed to grab an interview with the Final Fantasy XIV team yesterday afternoon to see if they could answer some additional questions.

And now, with multiple days of info and some probing, they present the following: everything they know about the game thus far. Some of it you've already heard, some of it you haven't, but either way, it's the most info you'll find on the game yet. Enjoy

I dont like fees...If i "BUY" the game they why should i pay again to play it?
besides that i think its great for those who like to spend infinite hours grindn and leveling all in the hope of obtaining that shiny ultimate uber weapon/armor.

I want to be excited about this but I am not one to pay a subscription to play a game. I will pay for a service but not pay full price for a game and then pay a monthly fee to play it. I will wait for the release and the reviews!

It sounds like they're almost done with this game and just waiting for 13 to be released so they can come out after it and be in line.

The weapons be very important sounds VERY FF9-ish. In that game you got new abilities by having weapons attached with those abilities and leveled yourself up with that weapon until the abilities became yours.

Structure of this sentence is HORRIBLE. Square-Enix didn't announce anything at Sony's conference. Sony announced that FFXIV (a S-E) gasme would be launched in 2010.

Come on, how is this stuff getting published?

Final Fantasy versus 13 is the one I'm excited for.

This game has my interest. Ff11 was a great game.

And the return to Vanadiel is exciting.

I can't wait for this game. Everything I'm reading about it so far sounds great.
