PS3 owners shouldn't buy Fallout 3 DLC

You might think to yourselves, dear PS3 owners, that you've waited long enough and want to buy that DLC right away. But not so fast!

Fallout 3 best non-ninja game in next gen.

Twizlex5489d ago

I foresee a few disagrees in your future... but not from me at least.

Vault Boy5489d ago

Well obviously I'm not going to disagree lol!

h0tz0rz5489d ago

Ya know, I really liked the game but PS3 owners kinda get shafted with the DLC. I think we should just not buy it out of spite.

Milk is for Babies5489d ago

Game of the Year edition would be great for christmas. They get to sell the game through 2 holidays instead of just 1.

L80BelfDK5489d ago

I don't think I could wait to play the DLC even though we had to wait this long for it to come out in the first place. I want it asap.

Omegasyde5489d ago (Edited 5489d ago )

I would save purchasing the expansions for when there is gaming drought.

The Ps3 won't really have a gaming drought outside of FPS.

EDIT: Actually, July for the North America won't really have any game worth playing. Perhaps buy it then?

Twizlex5489d ago

Actually, I'd wait until October :)

sonarus5489d ago

Didn't buy for 360 won't be buying for PS3

bunbun7775489d ago

Based on what I have heard about the first two packs, and that the third one will bump it to 30, I will probably wait till all 3 packs are available, hopefully discounted.

See you all have good reasons to dismiss exclusive DLC and Beth-- but Fallout 3 to me is a great game, and with possible trophy support.... you can bet your a$$ i will buy~

BLuKhaos5489d ago

I wasn't planning on buying the DLC anyways. Now when does the "Game of the Year" version come out again?

Immortal Kaim5489d ago

Here is an idea, if you enjoy the game and want to expand on it, buy the DLC. If you don't care about Fallout 3 or don't want to expand on it, don't buy the DLC. Simple really...

Hellsvacancy5489d ago

All of it - i loved Fallout 3 :-)

caladbolg7775489d ago (Edited 5489d ago )

Good article. Good read. Good suggestion. But I'd even take it a step further. I'll buy the GOTY edition USED from the bargain bin in 2010.

pixelsword5489d ago (Edited 5489d ago )

Did they even fix that bug where you couldn't return to the rest of the world after accepting that last mission on the PS3?

You'd probably get the DLC and would have to start from scratch just to play it.

Best $60 I never spent.

Has anyone even heard of this website until they clicked on this link?

I haven't.

Well anyways, if it floats your boat, shove off and get the DLC.

I may get Fallout 3... in 2010.

December 2010 perhaps.

SL1M DADDY5489d ago

I might as well wait for the compilation version to come out then buy it used a few months later. Sorry, but the way Bethesda has been treating PS3 owners lately, I could give a spit about them. Heck, I played their other titles on the Xbox and Xbox 360 but the way they have treated PS3 owners makes me sick.

xwabbit5489d ago

Im not buying it that's 4 sho

Bgibbs5489d ago

It's not a bug, if you chose to be the hero and go in, you die, they stated that pretty clearly in the text in that part. If you send someone else in, you can continue the game. Also, with the broken steel DLC, you can send in Fawkes and no one dies =]. (PC f@g, not 360)

tordavis5489d ago

If you don't buy it, you are justifying Bethesda's reason to make the DLC a timed exclusive.

poopface15489d ago

NO CRAP, really. You Never wanted to play the game so im not surprised you wouldnt want it. I rented fallout 3 on 360 last year and I really liked it. I havent purchased the DLC because I dont even have the game.

But if you enjoyed F3 then I dont see why you would not even be happy to get the opportunity. I wouldnt buy the DLC because Id rather wait on the edition with it all on the disk. But from what Ive seen this is actually some good DLC. If your a fan of the game It seems like a good deal.

I would have waited to get the 3rd one anyway before geting the other 2, since you have a higher level cap. If you can wait(or have to wait) then its probably better to get tham all together for cheaper someday anyway.

Like some of you Ill probably buy the GOTY edition with all the DLC included. But if you a fan of the game youll probably buy it, but if your a fanboy then you flame bethesda all day long regardless of if you even liked fallout 3.

Better late than never. Mabe itll be a little cheaper for the ps3 guys. That would be nice.

The Lazy One5489d ago

is the PS3 GOTY edition going to have the 360 content included?

Sarcasm5489d ago

"If you don't buy it, you are justifying Bethesda's reason to make the DLC a timed exclusive. "

I agree and disagree. If they released the DLC on time without this stupid "exclusive" nonsense, maybe they would have sold more DLC on the PS3 version as well?

However, now that it's too late for that. Yeah if PS3 owners don't buy the DLC, Bethesda will see it as a lost profit or wasted effort.

But it's really a lose-lose situation since they made it "exclusive" in the first place. So who's to blame for low sales of the DLC? Bethesda themselves.

Don't make it like it's the gamers fault.

budbundystyles5489d ago

How do you figure? Bethesda knew PS3 owners would wait til GOTY edition, that's what your saying? Based off of what exactly?

n to the b5489d ago

@Cookigaki: does the lvl 18 Ninja Perk count though? ;)

@all of u who said u love Fallout 3: agrees all around! check out my comments over there >>>, if u are on the fence about the DLC and want to know a little bit more. ...if u dare to visit the Open Zone, that is! MWAHAHA!! :)

Vault Boy5489d ago

That's actually a good idea. If I didn't already buy some of the DLC for the 360 version, I might wait also.

PirateThom5489d ago

If they make the saves for the regular edition carry over to the GOTY edition, it would probably sell a ton more.

Twizlex5489d ago

Do you know that they won't carry over or are you just stating an opinion?

PirateThom5489d ago (Edited 5489d ago )

Just stating an opinion. I don't think the Oblivion GOTY carried over saves, sadly.

To Vault Boy: In theory, but I've played the game through about three times now, so I'd like to be able to jump straight into the "DLC", if you know what I mean...

Twizlex5489d ago

Ah, well there's still a glimmer of hope then.

Vault Boy5489d ago

I was actually saying it would suck if the saves didn't carry over. Sorry if that didn't come across properly. I definitely agree with you.

PirateThom5489d ago

Oh, sorry, with you now! :P

ThatCanadianGuy5489d ago

I would have bought it if it came out around the same time as 360's version. But im done with Fallout 3 now, got my platinum, i'm happy.

Whatever DLC i missed and future DLC to come, Bethesda can shove right up their ***

Vault Boy5489d ago

Awww, come on, guy! You know you want to experience that DLC.

Omegasyde5489d ago

For those who first purchased the game ~7 months ago, might of lost interest in it by now.

i.e. GTA4 DLC.

Bethesda and Microsoft actually timed the DLC great. Not too soon, not too late.

OGharryjoysticks5489d ago (Edited 5489d ago )

That's right, you shouldn't. You should spend that money on a cheap whore in the neighborhood instead of getting sloppy seconds after Microsoft :)

EDIT- Omegasyde, you're ruining my joke pretending to take it seriously. But seriously, the local whore is better than the Bethesda whore who should have put whatever they had on the bluray disc instead of catering to the DVD size and then going along with the jerk-off and preventing the only ones who could have had the content all along to wait.

On a side note...there's a story posted here from earlier that says supposedly MS could have up to a TB of storage on the next system they release like they want a big d!ck now. LOL

Omegasyde5489d ago

I was satisified with the content that came on the Fallout 3 disc.

HOWEVER.... The endings were so stupid and cheap.

Great climax, horrible money shot.

Tony P5489d ago

"I was satisified with the content that came on the Fallout 3 disc.

I see a lot of this with Western devs. The Japanese seem to have them beat as far as endings go. Maybe I'm spoiled by JP games, but how annoying is it to beat a game in 8-10 hours and get a 30-second ending? Bioshock is a prime offender too iirc: great in-game storytelling, absolutely poor endings. I'm not asking for MGS-long endings, I'm just saying...more than a freakin' minute.

Sarcasm5489d ago

"I'm not asking for MGS-long endings, I'm just saying...more than a freakin' minute. "

PREACH ON.

I agree 100%

Fallout 3 has the cheapest, paste on endings i've ever played in a video game. Hell, SNES games has better endings than that crap.

However, me and my friend concluded that Fallout 3's best experience is the journey itself, not the ending.

n to the b5489d ago

I have to disagree I think Fable 2 is the new worst offender. all that work gathering your 3 Heroes only to... well, I guess I shouldn't 'spoil' it here.

although on the other hand, since u can continue playing Fable 2 after the ending with new quests & mansions, u could consider all that after-play to be part of the ending and then it doesn't suck quite as bad. but then of course, on the other OTHER hand, now that u can do the same with Fallout 3 DLC (keep playing after the 'ending')it's still way better, right??

Always annoying when articles do that.

I agree with them that the tv show was a bit on the clean side. They got loads right regarding set design etc but there's room for improvement.

i dont. it hurts my eyes. but im fairly ssensitive when it comes to that sort of stuff.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies37d ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken36d ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing6937d ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker37d ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing6937d ago (Edited 37d ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt37d ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken36d ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.
