Some of this info is correct, some of it isn't.

I have seen it.

It's not a PSP2 either. There hasn't been any major processor upgrades to it. Only aesthetic.

That's all I am going to say for now, in a couple weeks I am allowed to reveal more.

Mindboggle5521d ago (Edited 5521d ago )

So Sev are you saying youve seen the PSP2

And your saying theres only an aethestic change. So it basically still plays the same old games....If true whats the point, might aswell be the PSP 4000.

Sev5521d ago (Edited 5521d ago )

It's not the PSP2.

Here is the real kicker...

It's not the PSP-4000 either. It's something else. :)

@ below... That's all I am saying for now. Sorry. Soon though.

-x.Red.x-5521d ago

IF you're not lying to us (i feel you're not, i dunno why i but i do)

So there Is "new" psp(2)

hmm... hopefully it will have two analog...
eff it make it have all DS3 buttons/analog sticks

damn..can't wait then

-x.Red.x-5521d ago

a psp add-on!?

that keyboard that everyone wants!?

:D

SuperM5521d ago

Well i knew there would be no PSP2 this year. I mean we have all heard how sony is braging about the PSP lineup this year, and how only half of the PSP games are announced yet. Why the f... would they be so stupid to announce a PSP2 when they finally have a great lineup for the PSP. Way to kill potential sales.

pwnsause5521d ago

"It's not the PSP-4000 either. It's something else. :)"

PSP Phone?

Jrome5521d ago

I hate when people say they know what it actually is, and then don't reveal anything substantial.

Might as well have just waited till you could have actually said something >.<. Because now I REALLY don't know what it is :'(.

pwnsause5521d ago

if this new PSP has a second analog stick, then im down.

xabmol5521d ago

I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know.

Na Na Na, Na Na Na.

I know something you don't know.

xD

Kain815521d ago

its not the psp-4000 o.O

can you give us a timeframe, when you will be able to tell us something???

see ya

caladbolg7775521d ago

If you're breaking NDA enough to be talking about what the PSP2 IS NOT, then you may as well break it enough to talk about what it IS.

You're a phony.

ShadowRyuX5521d ago

In fact I've assumed this every since PSP2 rumors started popping all over the place. I am pretty sure Sony is following suit with Nintendo. Look at the DSi, there are now two type of games DSi games and DS games with DSi functionality. So this new PSP will be the same I think in that there will be games that can only be played on this new PSP while there will be games that can be played on both the new PSP and the old ones, but will have support for any extra features this new PSP has.

Who knows, I could be way off, but I have a strong feeling that I'm right. I guess only time will tell =)

Marceles5521d ago (Edited 5521d ago )

A PSP with a right joystick and 2 extra triggers would be epic. But if you truly wanna know what Sev is talking about...stay tuned to Playstation Lifestyle!

edit: and who took your 10th bubble Sev? we gotta get you back up +bubble

Sev5520d ago

@ Caladbolg,

Who said I was under NDA? I am not. I just have respect for my sources wishes.

-EvoAnubis-5520d ago

My 1000 model needs an upgrade. From what I know to be true, looks like this is going to be it.

cliffbo5521d ago

how is UMD useless if it's delivered millions and millions of games to millions of PSP owners?

Mindboggle5521d ago

Its not useless commercially or as way to get games to consumers, its just technically useless, and very impractical.

PotNoodle5521d ago

Those sticks are in horrible posistions, if they are going to include dual sticks in the next PSP - then they really need to change the shape of the actual PSP to make it easier to hold.

xabmol5521d ago

I think they would be more comfortable up top about where the speakers are on the slim. It would definitely give my thumbs some much needed leg room.

The nub positioning on the slim gives my hand a cramp after about 30 minutes. It's very aggravating. I wish I had an option like an add-on or something.

MasterOne5521d ago

I can't see getting rid of the UMD. I would have no issue. However, not everyone has home access to the Internets believe it on not. The only way I see this happening is some sort of kiosk for those who don't have a SAFE/Secure connection to the Internet to download games.

Kushan5521d ago (Edited 5521d ago )

You know, flash memory has only gotten cheaper and cheaper lately. UMDs hold what, like 2Gb of Data at the most? Plus they're a huge drain on battery life and need a stupid plastic shell to stop them getting scratched to hell. It just makes no sense to create such a format.
But now you can pick up 2GB SD cards for like £2, sony owns their own Memory Stick format so they immediately get a huge discount on the technology behind it. And with the way that technology has went, it already holds more data than a UMD and is faster.
Besides, If the Nintendo can do it on the DS, why can't Sony?

Besides, who said anything about needing home access to download stuff? All you'd need is a wireless connection and you're sorted. Want a new game? You'd pop down to starbucks and have a coffee instead of going to Gamestop or whatever. Nothing really changes for you.

willie62895521d ago

who's to say they cant sell the games on a memory stick? Why not buy Chains of Olympus 2 on a 4gb mem stick and just plug it in to play?

sinncross5521d ago

I still disagree with the UMD being taken out. Every problem resulted from th UMD can be fixed:

Battery life can be enhanced with a better and powerful battery.

Size is not an overly major concern, the PSP-3000 is a nice size and weight, though if they did want ti much smaller I can see the UMD part being a problem.

Loading times can be curtailed as well with a stronger processor, RAM etc. Coupled with a better batter that will be more able to run the operations I don't see this as a major problem with the PSP2.

I personally believe that these issues can be fixed without getting rid of the UMD. Likewise pure DD is not going to be the future for a good few years. Not everyone is willing to download all their games, and not every is capable of doing so. The two way option of UMD and DD is a workable solution.

However beyond that, I think a sliding screen would be nice, if not entirely high priority, and reworked controls to include all the buttons of a PS console would be great: it would allow users of the PSP2 and PS3, to use the PSP2 as a controller for the PS3.

The flash memory would also be great but Sony need to make sure they don't have a hand held that is too expensive. In fact, a non-UMD PSP2 which is expensive wud surely not work, or maybe they could offer 2 SKU's.

Kushan5521d ago

"Loading times can be curtailed as well with a stronger processor, RAM etc. Coupled with a better batter that will be more able to run the operations I don't see this as a major problem with the PSP2."

Not true. The Processor/RAM etc. aren't a bottleneck here, the UMD is. Just what exactly do you expect the processor to do while it's waiting for data from the UMD to stream? It can't process data it doesn't have access to.

skyfire22615521d ago

"The flash memory would also be great but Sony need to make sure they don't have a hand held that is too expensive. In fact, a non-UMD PSP2 which is expensive wud surely not work, or maybe they could offer 2 SKU's."

You clearly have no clue as to what your talking about. First off a UMD-less PSP2 would work fine.Infact I and many others I assume would welcome it for many reason.

There is also no need at all for internal flash memory. By just storing games on MSPD cards the user gets to choose how much space they need and for a much cheaper price. Power of Choice is a good thing.

Sony/Sandisk announced the next stage of memory stick pro duo way back at CES with 2TB of capacity. While I don't expect to see that size of a card anytime soon I fully expect the PSP2 to support for this. I'm hoping Sony has two slots. This way Sony could allow games to be released on these cards via retail for all those panzies who need that security blanket and a second card can be used to store downloaded games.

Take it further and one can have two game cards in the unit or two cards containing all your downloaded content. Just think of it, 2x2TB cards in a PSP2 holding all your games always with you where- ever whenever. Everything from PSP1 and PSP2 games to movies/photo's/music. Oh yeah sign me up!!

Second, having two SKU's would only make things more expensive for sony. Without UMD and internal flash memory the cost of each unit would be far FAR less. Not too mention the benefits to battery life and weight.

Kushan5521d ago

Also I can tell you right now that there's many thousands of happy PSP owners out there who haven't used a UMD in years.

LeShin5521d ago

...so you mean all 20+ of my psp games and 30 UMD films will now be useless? No thanks!

caladbolg7775521d ago (Edited 5521d ago )

@Quote: "...so you mean all 20+ of my psp games and 30 UMD films will now be useless? No thanks!"

Probably just as useless as your Super Nintendo games became when you bought a Nintendo 64? [/sarcasm]

You could still just as easily play your 20+ PSP games and 30 UMD films on the PSP that you already own. If you choose not to buy the PSP2, that's cool, I can see how the lack of a UMD drive could put people off. But saying "you won't buy it because it makes your PSP1 games USELESS" isn't a very sound argument.

Nor very factual.

Anyone else not blown away with graphics these days? Me neither

There are different games. Some have gamplay at it highest priority, some have the story, some have the replay value and choices... There are a lot of different game experiences.

It is laughable that just now graphics does not have anything to do with that experiene. We have had many games of that type over time. This is just the one that have come closest to feel like playing an actual movie. Just look the the Digital foundry walkthrough it is a masterpiece in that perspective and hence wrth trying. But yes do not do it for the gameplay - but that was never the goal of this experience.

GamerRN7d ago

It's because it's on Xbox. When Xbox has amazing graphics, they don't matter. When PlayStation does, it's a game changer!

Lightning777d ago

Pretty much my thoughts. They were technical marvel's on PS and still are. The moment Xbox puts out a graphically intense game is doesn't matter suddenly.

4 years ago this month would the UE5 tech demo debut with the girl flying (tech demo said it was only possible on PS5 because of the SSD. Glad to finally see it in its glory.

fr0sty7d ago

FFS, gaming journalism has really gone downhill. At least hire people with a basic grasp of grammar... "Me neither" means the exact opposite of what the "author" is trying to say. That's like saying "I could care less"... lol.

S2Killinit7d ago

Maybe because the gameplay being dull allowed it to have the amazing graphics and people are not as impressed by graphics alone anymore? I mean there is a lot of sites saying the story and the gameplay are lackluster. So what are we supposed to enjoy then? Cgi graphics are beautiful but since they arent interactive, they dont impress me as much as they used to. Thats an extreme example, but you get my drift.

Terry_B6d ago

When Playstation (Sony) does it..its usually a great game and not a cinematic experience..or at least something new at the time..like Until Dawn back in 2015.

1Victor6d ago

@gamer:” It's because it's on Xbox. When Xbox has amazing graphics, they don't matter. When PlayStation does, it's a game changer!”

The game looks as good as any other PlayStation game in my eyes why can’t you and the other hardcore Xbox be happy about it and drag PlayStation into every conversation and force PlayStation hardcore to look into the game and find flaw that most games have in one way or another.
@light: “ 4 years ago this month would the UE5 tech demo debut with the girl flying (tech demo said it was only possible on PS5 because of the SSD. ”
Yes at that time it was only possible on PlayStation SSD how ignorant of you to think that after 4 years the technology wouldn’t evolved and move to a industry standard 🤦🏿I wish your mentality wasn’t so naive and narrow to post stuff like that 😩 in a year or 2 a new game will come out that might look better, it’s the nature of the industry.

Now that the distraction is gone I feel that is a good thing that the graphics in games are starting to hit the rooftop and hopefully the developers will put more thoughts into story and gameplay mechanics than just the next shiny oily skin of old.

Reaper22_6d ago

So true. Not surprised by all the negativity. It's a really good game and looks better than any game I've ever seen. GOTY nominee for sure. Like I said before, sony screwed up big time by not purchasing Ninja Theory.

Asplundh6d ago

Pretty much. It's like how the Switch and Steam controller using haptic feedback in their controllers wasn't a big deal but then Sony did it and it was then a "game changer".

fr0sty6d ago

The game runs at as low as 21fps... That isn't much to brag about no matter how good it looks.

MajorLazer6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

We've had graphical gamechangers before, such as Crysis but those games still had gameplay to compliment it. Hellblade pretty much has none, and only achieved such graphics through being incredibly linear and having very small, closed off environments where very little is happening.

Vx_6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

GFX does not mean anything if the game is boring. It is simple like that and these major companies need to understand this simple concept.

Games are like your lady, she may be beautiful to look at for a while but then it gets boring if her character isn't interesting and fun to be with.

Horizon forbidden West has great graphics and great gameplay

GamerRN7d ago

Yeah but graphics don't matter, remember?

anast6d ago

@RN

I've been pretty consistent in saying that we need both.

GamerRN5d ago

So until dawn, too human, or whatever those series of games were... Graphic masterpieces it garbage with no gameplay?

VincentVanBro7d ago

I agree and I actually think Forbidden West looks better than Hellblade 2. I easily prefer looking at it at least.

Sonic18816d ago

It does look better in my opinion as well. I don't know why it looks better but there's something about the Decima engine or that guerrilla games is using tricks that we don't know of

Abear216d ago

Can you fly a mount under water in Hellblade 2? I think not! One of the best moments this Gen
