Wccftech discussed the recent Xbox news with MIDiA Research analyst Rhys Elliott, who pointed out that a strong upcoming Games Showcase could help a lot with fans.

I was hoping for something different from Coalition, not Gears 6 so soon.
Their expertise in UE development could've propelled them to try out other IPs using the new UE5.
But guess, given recent MS' state, Gears 6 was the 'safer' call for the studio. But still hope they venture other IPs or even other genres ... at least FPSs in future?

Oh yeah ... since Gears 5 was getting so many updates, the game's still felt fresh in my mind ... but the latter part of my above comment still stands ... they could've leveraged their UE expertise and the UE5 hype to create something original of their own for atleast once than continue again with another entry in the same'ol IP handed down to them from Epic Games.
Just look at the Matrix demo they were involved in ... they can cook up something cool and different

100% correct! And no, A "Great Show Could Mostly Eclipse Anger" it can't do anything to change Microsoft and the anger gamers have had that has been built over years, decades! Microsoft has had great "shows" every year. The easy part is making a game look real good with CGI but at some point Halo Infinite, RedFall, CrackDown3, Bleeding Edge, Hellblade 2, Starfield these games have to release and when they do we've found time and time again that what was shown at what we thought was a pretty great show....turned out to be crap!
Now Microsoft thinks it was a good idea to pay $70-$80 billion to acquire Developers and Publishers who's games were already coming to Xbox and adding 1000's of employees that must be paid and with benefits. Add to that its Microsoft that will decide what projects will be green lit and what won't be something Microsoft has not shown to be very good at. Microsoft in gaming is a disaster and if they got out of gaming it wouldn't be a bad thing and now we got Media running interference with "wait till the great show"..........how many years have Xbox gamers, all gamers be told by Microsoft "you just wait", "wait till next year", "wait till E3", " wait till next gen", wait, wait, wait that's what Microsoft does best tell gamers to wait then never deliver. Well its no secret i was done waiting long ago how bout you?

I agree with this statement.. all those games listed were absolute trash.. but hellblade 2 i think would pull through cause even hellblade 1 was great. even if everything was kept the same as hellblade 1, it would be good but based on everything shown so far, and even though i'm an avid sony fan.. i'm excited and confident hellblade 2 will be one of the few last greats for xbox. will def cop it on pc

Your right HellBlade 2 in unlikely to be "trash" its not even released yet but the thing this game has going for it is its not been given the usual over hype that Microsoft gives its games and personally I think that helps its. I don't want to be told something is the greatest thing ever then it fall short of that as most all Microsoft games do. Also fair to say Starfield was not trash but it did get the usual Microsoft hype and it fell well short of that. That said I got to see a great HellBlade 2 before I believe it.

I’d like to know from their own words what they are actually ‘seeking’. No more “Likely” or guessing articles of the future. No more closely worded answers that can go either way. A clear answer from MS for what they are doing with Xbox, or a clear and concrete word from Xbox for what MS vision is for them.

I'm concerned about the consumer culture that seems to be at the front of people's minds these days.

So these studios complete their recent projects and it's like, "thanks, we'll take it from here. Now get out." If this anger is real, people shouldn't even be watching this showcase. When you do, you're basically saying "I'm mad at this, but maybe I can overlook that if you have good games coming."

Whether it is Microsoft or Sony and Nintendo in the future... Don't give them an inch. The original argument was "they're just ramping down from COVID-19" but they're closing entire studios, and a day later saying we need more games like the well received one from a studio we just closed.

I don't want to lecture anyone and you're under no obligation to listen to me, but I hope people will consider the message it sends when you can still be interested in what a company has to show when they just screwed their own people.

I know what your saying but I just want to say it's hard for people to do something like that after investing so much money into an ecosystem. Can't tell you how many times I've seen people talk about wanting to ditch Xbox and follow with how many digital games they have. That's a tough one so I understand.

I'll personally watch and see what their doing but I won't support Ms aside from gamepass because that's what they want. Killing off physicals infuriates me so I'll buy games on Playstation and switch instead.

I don't doubt that it's difficult, mate. At the same time, I've lost access to my Plus titles on Playstation since I stopped paying for Plus following the price hike.

But this is exactly their intent and people ought not feed the non-ownership machine. We have to stop giving these corporations this kind of power.

I mentioned this before, but I bought a lot of books on data analysis using SPSS (statistical software from IBM) over the years for my work. Now, to purchase a perpetual license, it's about $12K (or sub for $99/mo). You know what I did? I learned how to use a different software (Stata) that is far more comprehensive and better (and for a few hundred bucks). Haven't looked back.

My point is that we have the ability to say no, and just because we've invested what we have into an ecosystem doesn't require us to be beholden to that.

I hope people feel that eventually, enough is enough.
