Why is Final Fantasy XVI so scared of being a Final Fantasy game?
Bobby writes, "Final Fantasy 16 — The Rising Tide is a great expansion but it's on the short side."
The Nerd Stash: "Final Fantasy 16's DLC is a worthy adventure that adds a lot of jaw-dropping moments and more Hollywood-style fights to an already great RPG."
I don't know about ''great'' rpg.
Most epic fight sequences and presentation? Yes
Worst side quests ever? Yes
Boring traversal? Yes
Empty worlds? Yes
Demo is infinitely more mature than the actual game? Yes
FF16=MMO side quests + Devil May Cry Lite
There is no Roleplaying/decision making in this game.
No crafting there isnt even character builds because just like Dante/Bayonetta Clive has all skills and loadouts available to him.
Let’s be honest, this isn’t a “great” RPG. I am in the camp that it IS an RPG, no DMC game I’ve played is designed like this… but in terms of being a great RPG… well, I much prefer the RE-Trilogy over this.
That being said, I do think the DLCs have probably the best boss battles I’ve played in a game. Omega was crazy and the battle theme just amplified that for me. In the other hand, I’m struggling to think of a game that has a boss battle as great as Leviathan. Like, I played it on FF mode and it was sooooo intense and just a gorgeous and fun experience. The music was also top notch!
However, I really disliked most of everything of FF16. The Benedikta arc was fantastic, but after that the game was boring and a slog to get through. I think the boss battles were the best parts, but also inconsistent for me. Bahamut was peak for the base game, but everything else didn’t surpass that experience until you play the DLC bosses.
The 2 DLC's were great. 2 new eikon ability sets (leviathan and...) and a survival/bloody palace mode with Rising Tide were great as well.
From the best abilities to their rotation in combat, learn everything that makes the best build to use in The Rising Tide DLC for FF16.
Seems pretty clear to me and has been from the start.
its an action RPG, its has been marketed that way the whole time, your confusion is your own.
The systems there provide plenty of tinkering with, especially with the Eikon powers, in terms of the move you select and mix and match.
Do you want to deal heavy damage but little stagger with very slow cooldowns for those moves or do you want to find the balance between the 2.
Do you pick eikons powers that work with each other for instance use high stagger moves, then ensure you have guruda eikon power equipped as when you get to half point you can use her grab specifically which will slam an enemy down right at that point so you can get even more hits in.
The system is as eaasy or as complicated as people want it to be.
Such an amazing game, i loving every single second of it, i dont want it to end!!!!
“…there were non-white people in Medieval Europe. There just were, buddy.”
Here we go… 😪
I don't like that it is basically just an rpg dmc. Too many buttons and skills to have to remember. But it is fun. The story and cutscenes are great as well.
Still wish they'd finally just make a full on traditional FF with modern visuals and AAA budget one day. Hoping that FF9 remake fulfills a bit of that for me...if it's legit.
And still, it's an amazing game, a GOTY-candidate that is fun to play, have great story, an amazing soundtrack and visuals never seen before in a game.
For "not having an idea" what it wants to be, it's simply amazing.
As a longtime Final Fantasy fan, this is one of the best Final Fantasy games I've ever played, and seeing all the easter eggs around the world, that is huge nods to older games, puts a huge smile on my face, over and over.
Oh they knew what they wanted the game to be from the beginning. It’s an action RPG, they said this. It’s just that you don’t know how to move on, from what the game used to be.
