Three Reasons PSVR2 Is Better Than Meta Quest 2

IGN: "Akeem has had tons of time with the PSVR 2, and as one of the biggest VR enthusiasts at IGN, he's got words on why he thinks PSVR 2 is actually better than the Meta Quest 2! From Horizon: Call of the Mountain to Resident Evil Village VR, to hardware specific features, he's found tons to love about the PSVR 2 and we're here for it! Are you still on the fence?"

SullysCigar456d ago

Only three?! There are loads! There are also counter arguments, of course, but when taken as a whole, PSVR2 blows quest 2 out of the water, as it should do.

Destiny1080456d ago (Edited 456d ago )

that's some high praise for the PSVR2, and yes it literally blows away the quest 2, according to digital foundry the quest 2 suffers from washed out black levels and fogging issues, and according to this post it cant be worn with glasses and doesn't block out light adequately, has a crappy screen and graphics and is also heavy and awkward on the head, and of course no eye tracking / haptics / adaptive triggers

Number1TailzFan456d ago

I mean it's years after, obviously it's gonna be better in some ways otherwise something is wrong lmao. Heard lots of complaints about visual issues on PSVR2 tho, it's kinda like Valve's Index which suffers from some glare, which is barely to be seen on Quest 2. Higher price does not always = better.

Quest 2 is at the level where it's decent enough in clarity, can pair with your PC wirelessly or wired for unlimited power, unlike PSVR2. So yea, it depends on your requirements and if you intend to stick to walled gardens of a console.

Only 10% of Q2 owners pair it with a PC. For the vast majority, it suffers all the limitations of standalone.

I guess Sony is not pleased with the initial PS VR2 sales if all media outlets need to create a "why the PS VR2 is better to QUest2 type of article (with various degrees of truth).

Meta dominates over 75% of the current VR space and I have barely seen a review of a game outside of resident evil4.
but suddenly we have all current PS VR2 getting reviews (and most of them are on the Quest2) all over the board like it's the most established Headset.
Heck, I would not be surprised if the 2023 GOTY is suddenly a PS VR2 game (because VR will suddenly matter)

In other news one of the most popular VR game Echo VR (made by Ready at Dawn) will have its server shutdown on August 1 (because Meta is a A-hole).
Have we heard of this news on a popular website? of course not.

Also, I just find funny a bit that all media that got a free PS vr2 are all it's the best thing ever versus a lot of YouTubers that bought the Ps Vr2 and are more like it's a nice upgrade that will please the hardcore crowd.

PlayStation is more popular than Facebook, especially when it comes to the console space.

"I guess Sony is not pleased with the initial PS VR2 sales if all media outlets need to create a "why the PS VR2 is better to QUest2 type of article (with various degrees of truth)."

So Sony have the media in their pocket then? Any particular explanation for why Horizon COTM isn't a 99 meta game then? While your tinfoil hat is still on.

"Meta dominates over 75% of the current VR space and I have barely seen a review of a game outside of resident evil4."

That's the last big game they put out.

"but suddenly we have all current PS VR2 getting reviews (and most of them are on the Quest2) all over the board like it's the most established Headset."

Have we? Kayak has 6 reviews on meta. Pavlov has 1. Tentacular has 6. Horizon COTM has 6 less reviews than Alyx. What the Bat has 6 reviews. RE8 VR has 6. GT7 VR has no category on metacritic. You're seeing more of these games because PSVR2 is trending so obviously the launch lineup, which is far superior a launch lineup for any other headset and most consoles, is getting 'some' attention.

"Heck, I would not be surprised if the 2023 GOTY is suddenly a PS VR2 game (because VR will suddenly matter"

It seemed to suddenly matter in 2020 when Alyx was a nominee, was that ok with you because it wasn't Sony?

"Have we heard of this news on a popular website? of course not."

As if those same media didn't get free Quests and a good few known VR YouTubers that are playing down PSVR2 are Meta Ambassadors.

Sorry but PSVR2 is dead and double dead at any sale price. It was dead before it launched as the "premium" VR scene lost all the AAA developers and now it is all indie mobile phone crap quality software.

State of Play | May 30, 2024

State of Play is back! Tune in live for updates on PS5 and PS VR2 titles, plus a look at PlayStation Studios games arriving later this year.

darthv721d 16h ago (Edited 1d 16h ago )

Im getting a bit of GotG vibes from Concord.

Ragnarok coming September 2024... that's just shy of 2 years since the PS5 release in November 2022.

-Foxtrot1d 16h ago (Edited 1d 16h ago )

I thought exactly the same. If they made it more like the GotG game and it wasn't online focused I'd have been sold instantly.

BISHOP-BRASIL1d 12h ago (Edited 1d 12h ago )

Yup, I was hyped up by the cinematic trailer and immediately put off the moment the gameplay trailer started, that was very high quality and great concept cinematic just for another Overwatch wannabe... Here's hoping they succeed so eventually someday they make an actual campaign focused entry for the franchise, but I'm not holding my breath and I'm definitely not falling for always online crap and FOMO just to follow drip fed cinematic "content".

EDIT: I'm still watching it as I comment... OMG they have another hero shooter, Marvel Rivals, seriously, they missed 2020 or something? For those not into online only and VR games, gotta say, poor show so far...

Profchaos1d 15h ago

Gotg would of been a hit if it released before Avengers was my goty a few years back so I'm intrigued here

RaidenBlack1d 15h ago (Edited 1d 15h ago )

GotG is very underrated and had the unfortunate luck of releasing just after Avengers.
Its really good and more people should play it.

Lightning771d 12h ago

Concord didn't do anything for me personally just another Overwatch mash up with other fps stuff. I mostly popped for Dynasty Warriors for next year. That was my biggest reveal I was genuinely excited for.

No Ghost 2. It's very clear Sony will wait later to Announce the Big Aaa's they don't wanna announce stuff too early and rather announce it closer to release.

darthv721d 15h ago

Maybe its just me but Astrobot looked more R&C inspired than ever.

P_Bomb1d 15h ago

Astro won the show. Looks epic! Huge bosses too like from the PSVR game.

shinoff21831d 15h ago

Astro bot and silent hill 2 remake are what I'm liking out of this.

RaidenBlack1d 15h ago (Edited 1d 15h ago )

Most games appeared good.
Where Winds Meet and Monster Hunter seemed like those needed a bit more polish but that's ok as those aren't releasing anytime soon but I am still kinda worried regarding SH2Remake. Still looks rough and from rear view, James Sunderland looks nearly identical to Leon Kennedy's model from RE4Remake. Hope I am wrong though.
Other games were decent. Even Marvel Rivals.
Ballad of Antara was the highlight for me, followed by Infinity Nikki(purely on the art style alone).
And glad that, Path of Exile 2 is coming to PS5 and Ragnarok is coming to PC!
Behemoth for VR2 also looked really interesting.

PapaBop1d 15h ago

You actually liked Infinity Nikki art style?

PSPSA1d 6h ago

Was my favorite looking game of the show, art style looks amazing

RaidenBlack1d 4h ago

Its not my type of game ...but the design and art style is really well thought out

Lightning771d 12h ago (Edited 1d 12h ago )

Marvel Rivals had a PC invite alpha test a few weeks back and they love the hell out it saying it's an Overwatch killer. I'm definitely down to play and play as my favorite.

STORM. ❄️💨🌊⚡

There's a closed beta in July on consoles but I doubt I'll be able to get in.

InUrFoxHole1d 9h ago

In overwatch 's defense didn't it kill itself?

Michiel19891d 5h ago

they also gave out beta keys where you had to sign an nda not to say anything negative about the game, otherwise you could not play. Don't support stuff like that :) surprised they even showed it here cause it looks terrible and it will fail faster than Artifact
