The question you need to answer is: "Did you watch Squid Game with the original Korean language or English dub?

When I played Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut I played with the Japanese language track because the game, it's characters and setting are all so intrinsically Japanese I felt the immersion for me would be magnified and it was - it's a beautiful game that took me to another place.

I was disappointed that Assassin's Creed Odyssey didn't have a Greek dub. If I play Assassin's Creed Mirage then I will happily play with an Arabic voice acting. I just hope Ubisoft learns from Sucker Punch and also subtitles the NPC/background conversations that lend extra colour to the game world.

@VenomUK I'm a sub person myself. Always prefer to watch things in their original language. However, Hollywood and game companies just can't get Arabic right. It always sounds like crap to a native speaker like me.

I just have a hard time believing Ubisoft would change that when PlayStation didn't. Uncharted 4 had Arabic dubbing, and it was complete doo doo I turned it back to English within 2 minutes. It was so monotonous with different dialects. Like someone reading a script non-stop. Completely lacked the charm of the English voice over.

Maybe I'm wrong and they've hired actual actors who can convey the story better. I hope I am.

@CantThinkOfAUsername I generally prefer subs too, although with the movie Kung Fu Hustle I like both! I can see it would've been disappointing to hear a crap dub of Uncharted 4. Bad international voice acting can be for two main reasons; it might be because the voice actors are not native of the country they are meant to be from, eg an Italian American voice actor may speak Italian perfectly but if he grew up in the USA his accent will rarely be 100% authentic and be influenced by American. But more commonly it's because developers use third-party companies to record the dubs of multiple languages and the actors can speak the languages well but are not actually any good at acting! This can also mean people who listen to a dub may hear the same voice actors as they work on multiple games.

Perhaps there is some reason for you to be more hopeful about AC Mirage, the Arabic dub looks like it's been done in-house, the game's musical instruments will be authentic and Ubisoft senior staff have referred to the dubbing on Twitter, so it seems like the Arabic done will be produced with care.

This guy Moe Alemam is the Ubisoft Middle East localisation manager. He may be able to answer any questions you have.

I dunno, as far as i remember, Animus can translate the speech on-the-fly (or rather, as far as i understood, it «transfers» the thoughts of your ancestor, how he/she understood). That's why everyone was speaking english. And even accents were a part of that lore, because with each update (aka, new game), Animus was getting better and better at doing that.
What i'm trying to say, it kind of goes against the Assassin's Creed original lore.

I don't speak arabic, so if it was really done for authenticity sake, then good. I'll still be using subtitles in any case.

But if it was done just to save the money (just hire one voice actor, instead of actor for each language; and i know what you might say, but it's Ubisoft we're talking about, a company that's rehashing the same games for literal years), then shame on Ubisoft and Yves Guillemot.

On an unrelated note, i love what Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain did with the languages. When you first get into the enemy territory, all you hear is their native languages and as a person who speaks russian, it was a blast hearing normal russian speech in a game and understanding it (but game was acting like i do not).

Ohhh... gonna play it with Arabic voices and English subtitles. Sick!

I do like that option, that’s pretty neat. I hope it turns out being really well done with the Arabic voices!

Hope the gameplay (whenever shown off) is a good step up from the previous few AC entries!

Just cause 3 had a Lebanese arabic dubbed version.
I remember I got it just to see if they did it right & I was pleasantly surprised, the voice acting was pretty good.

It would have been better if they sold it as a DLC like originally planned.
