Elden Ring Delay Due to FromSoftware Exceeding Initial Plans; Focused on Game Tempo to Avoid Boredom

Hidetaka Miyazaki has spoken up a bit about the Elden Ring delay, and mentions how the dev team is focused on temp to avoid player boredom.

Covid will affect games also on 2022.

A certain fanbase can only hope...for...reasons?

@ kyizen
Any proof, or are you just making it up.

So many people will read this as Elden Ring Delay and just have a heart attack there

Dudeson882d ago

I just recovered from this mini heart attack indeed.

camel_toad882d ago

Yeh I stroked out there. I have my vacation set a week after launch so any launch day bugs can hopefully get patched out.

TheDoomedGuy882d ago

Symptoms may be more serious than COVID lol.

I myself was like shiiiiiiiittttt

-Foxtrot882d ago

Considering what many games are in Feb...I wouldn't have minded a month delay

jBlakeeper881d ago

That’s immediately what I thought when I read the headline and was like the hell?

Sounds like balancing issues. My speculation is from their trials they found quite a few testers able to "break" the balance perhaps by becoming too powerful too early. This is generally an issue with open world games because it becomes more difficult to control player progression than in linear games.

I have watched some of the boss fights and from what I observed magic is very powerful. Hope Elden Ring’s combat doesn’t overly favour magic. Personally, I prefer melee combat. I’ve completed all the souls without using magic and casting (excluding weapon buffs).

toxic-inferno882d ago

I'd never actually used magic (including weapon buffs) in any of the games until my most recent playthrough. Can't believe how useful those weapon buffs are, and that I'd never used them before now!

MrChow666882d ago

Same here, I like to go all out and get up close with a big sword lol

YoungKingDoran882d ago

Magic is the easy mode journalist's continually ask for, only they didnt get that far to know it

excaliburps882d ago

That could very well be it. Like, if you're too powerful, these games become boring since there's no more tension.

C-H-E-F882d ago

Soooo if the tempo is trash and we are bored playing the game, does that mean we've been bamboozled?

Lexreborn2882d ago

I’m so glad they made sure fun is the center of it and not just opening it up for the sake of opening it up. So many open world games just depend on fetch quest and have a lot of emptiness in between.

I really lose interest in open world games like that due to the nature of just nothing to do. That’s why games with lots of traversal options get me more interested then anything else. Not just driving a car/horse or quick travel. But flight, parkour have always been higher interest to me.lol

Kai Cenat Is Taking on the Entire Souls Franchise

ESTNN writes: "His past game marathons came with redesigned streaming rooms, costumes, cameos and other hyped additions. But the longest one of them all proved to be with FROMSOFTWARE's magnum opus: Elden Ring."

I hate to be that guy but, who cares?

Elden Ring Killed Gaming For Me & It's About To Do It Again

Saad from eXputer: "Utilizing its myriad strengths and masterful design, Elden Ring ruined gaming for me in a way I'll always be thankful for."

GhostScholar26d ago

It sounds like you’re just an eldenring fan and not so much a fan of games by and large. Which theres nothing wrong with.

RoadRacer25d ago

The author's profile appears to state otherwise. I believe they just got a massive shock with Elden Ring, something that stuck around. To each their own I guess

Crows9026d ago

Elden ring ruined from software for me....maybe.

I hope their next game isn't open world too...

ravens5226d ago

I have yet to beat Elden Ring. Not cause it's too hard , I've beaten Sekiro, Bloodborne, Demon Souls etc. Also I could just make my character op but I prefer to play under leveled. It's too big. I beat Radaghan or the moon lady last then got lost, lost for years lol. I'm going to beat it tho. Haven't played it in a while

Crows9025d ago

I platinumed the game but hated the open world aspect...started great but then after a bit you notice all the repeated dungeons and bosses...it got massively tedious and much preferred late game areas in a typical souls game than the open world repetition.

GhostScholar25d ago

The ole “I’m so good at hard games I had to play under leveled to get challenged and if I worked that hard in real life I wouldn’t be working at Walmart”

ravens5224d ago

? Don't work at Walmart or any type of retail...lol. But w.e. Makes you feel better about ya sad life 🤷🏽 lol. You probably just suck at games lmao.

I loved it but yeah it is just overwhelmingly massive and confusing, I don’t think I’ll ever finish it.
