"Activision believes that giving them extra time to complete production and continue growing their creative resources to support them after launch, will ensure that they will “delight and engage their communities for many years in the future"

Lol...bullshit

They did it because they'd rather try and do as much damage control as they can before these release so it won't impact sales. Hoping people will forget about what happened so they are more likely to give them a sale day one.

My_Name_is_Earl930d ago

They are bleeding talent and leadership. Timelines are going to be affected when key players leave mid development.

SDuck929d ago

can you refresh my memory on what BS went on?

-Foxtrot929d ago

The whole sexual misconduct thing, especially at Blizzard

SurgicalMenace929d ago

I don't see why we bother inserting ourselves in person matter anyway. What they do outside of making games has NOTHING to do with us.

CantThinkOfAUsername929d ago

You think gamers care? That's a very funny idea.

jBlakeeper929d ago

I know right?! I mean nobody deserves to be assaulted, but it’s not my problem. I just wanna play the damn game. Idc about what went on during development.

agnosticgamer929d ago

At the end of the day, I don't believe many people actually care nor do I believe many of the diablo fanbase wouldn't buy Diablo IV because of internal leadership and toxic work environments. If it's a good game it will still sell millions. I am just surprised they said it was delayed because I don't ever remember an actual announced release date, to begin with.

savedsynner929d ago

Um yeah no. Gamers really don't care about that enough to simply not buy the game if it's good. They care if its a good game.

Now, are there other reasons...im sure there are since diablo 4 is an action rpg which is not among the harder game types to develop. blizzard has a habbit of taking forever to release games that don't really push the envelope(d3 and starcraft 2)

TheDoomedGuy929d ago

If the games are good I do t care about workplace issues.

What was happening at blizzard is an issue of law that should be dealt with but as far as video games go i play the games i want.

If diablo4 is good I'll purchase.

clouds5929d ago

Totally... Also how can I forget the shitshow that is D2R when I get the daily reminder with the queue system that blizz these days can't even set up an online structure for a 20y old game.

For once I'd like to see Activision delay CoD by a year...or 5. We've earned it, no?

PhillyDillyDee930d ago (Edited 930d ago )

It seems the market would dictate that. Fact is, millions still buy it every, single, year… why would a business turn down that cash infusion?

The last CoD I actually purchased was Black Ops 1 i think… I honestly cant remember.

CrimsonWing69930d ago

This is what people don’t understand. There’s a reason these games get pushed out annually.

Relientk77930d ago

I'm not surprised, but damn I want Diablo 4. :-(

Snakeeater25929d ago

They need more time to add more micro transaction and milk money form Diablo immortal

Diablo 4: The Argument For and Against Returning to the High Heavens

The High Heavens is an important location to the Diablo franchise, but whether Diablo 4 should return to the location in the future is controversial.

Is Diablo IV worth it for the Single-Player experience today? I understand it has got many patches and improvements.

Daeloki5h ago

I honestly don't know what they could have changed/patched to make the game enjoyable since last summer. I played the campaign a bit past act 1 with a friend and it just becomes incredibly boring and repetitive. I uninstalled shortly after and haven't looked back. However, with me it may just be a case of that it's not my kind of game. I just didn't enjoy the endless cycle of going into a dungeon, collect loot, teleport to town, sell/dismantle, teleport back to dungeon, collect loot, teleport to town, sell/dismantle... rinse and repeat. That cycle was about 80% of the game back then, completely drowning out the story for me. If there is a demo, or you have a chance to test a friends copy then I'd recommend that before spending any money on it.

Kosic3h ago

I loved D3 and would play a season for weeks.
D4 came out I reached level 60 ish and grew bored, I tried again in S1 and got to the same level and quit. I heard about the loot revamp, and briefly tried season 3 before jumping into the new season.
The game is better because it's easier to feel this progression smoothly increase, without hitting such a large road block, but I am level 61 and in Torment 4, and again I just don't feel the urge to continue.

I found a lack of direction of what to do, the thing that puts me off is the bland world, hell-tides are rather boring. Kill a non stop spawn of demons and summon a boss...

If you can get it for cheap, give it a try, or do a Gamepass trial and play it there.

Diablo IV is Available on PlayStation Cloud Gaming - Beats Xbox to the Punch

Diablo IV is now available to play via PlayStation Cloud Gaming! Still not available to Play on Xbox Cloud Gaming.

We ran our script again and found 15 other PS5 games (a lot of popular ones!) that got PS5 Cloud Gaming support within the last month as well.

Not for me, I'm 100% physical media all of the time.

jwillj2k414d ago

I hate that I have to keep calling this out, but your physical disks mean nothing if the game code attempts to connect to a server prior to playing.

Hugodastrevas14d ago

And that happens when? I'm playing completely offline here, stellar Blade to be more precise.
I'm sorry but I've never run into that imaginary problem you're talking about, I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it has never happened to me.

jwillj2k414d ago

You not running into the problem yet has no bearing on my argument. You’re acting like the medium is the shield for you being able to always play your games when it effectively is not. The game code itself can try to connect to a server or the console you’re playing on may receive an update that requires that game to connect to a server. Just because you haven’t ran into it doesn’t mean anything lol you don’t own your games no matter how you try.

Hugodastrevas14d ago

So I have never run into the problem you're talking about and your answer is an hypothetical? Look I can play any game of my library offline right now without issue.
That issue is in your mouth and alone.

Crows9014d ago

Actually...there's an easy way...don't connect. If it doesn't require a connection and you don't connect...the code can't update...obviously....confused why you don't get what he's saying.

outsider162414d ago

Hold on..lets say i dnt have an online connection, can i atleast play the game offline though. Was thinking of getting this

jwillj2k414d ago

None of you use your brains.

OK, let’s explore this playing offline. not talking about Diablo specifically just gaming in general.

Are you going to buy two PlayStations? One offline one online? If not, moment you want to play something that requires a connection you’re cooked.

Does game experience you love so much stay the same offline?

Is the game even playable offline?

The whole point of my argument is that we don’t hold the keys anymore. The gatekeepers are the developers and console makers regardless of whether it’s digital or physical. You altering your play style for a lesser experience is not a workaround, it doesn’t solve the overall problem.

None of this matters since the move to the cloud is inevitable.

spicelicka14d ago

So you have to buy the game and can only stream to the PS5 devices using PS plus premium? What is the point of that. Much more useful when you can stream to other devices.

MrNinosan14d ago

Works great on my Portal while at work 👍

spicelicka14d ago

That's streaming off your PS5, not from the cloud. This is specifically referring to cloud gaming.

CrimsonWing6914d ago

Can’t you, uh, do this on your phone?

Tacoboto14d ago

Sony doesn't yet have a web or app-based solution to stream games off their cloud service, the closest you may be able to get would be Remote Play if they allow cloud streaming during a Remote session.

And yes this applies to the Portal too.

Einhander197213d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Tacoboto

Please stop talking about PlayStation Streaming, you don't know what you're talking about.

I just explained this to you the other day where you were telling people that remote play was their only cloud solution, because apparently you didn't understand how PlayStation Premium works even though PS Now was a thing since shortly after the launch PS4..

You can stream to PC and Mac, and they had mobile clients for it in the past but probably for the same reason Microsoft is fighting Apple and Google PS Now wasn't allowed on App stores. Which is why it's not on iPhone and Android still.

And to be honest, I am glad they are trying to keep it on the console, all their moves away from the console seem like a step in the wrong direction, which isn't working so great for Microsoft...

anast14d ago

Blizzard is shoving this game everywhere. Diablo 4 is going to take an even bigger hit soon. Path of exile 2 is coming out and it looks insane.

Crows9014d ago

Well they're about to release the next season...I think that might be way they're pushing the game again.

anast13d ago

I mean I get what you are saying, but D4 isn't doing that well either.

UnbreakableAlex14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

I completed it on gamepass. Thanks God I dint pay it full price. It plays like a lazy mobile game. I am not a pro diablo gamer (Diablo 1 was the only one I completed) but D4 has no atmosphere, no creepy feeling and soundtrack like the first one and its so easy, I managed to not buy any weapon and had 4 Million Credits on level 55. I always used the same 4 attacks from the beginning and died maybe 10-15 times. It's so easy, wtf. I remember D1 to be pretty hard.
WTF happened? Is Diablo 3 also that bad?

jwillj2k414d ago

Diablo 3 was my first Diablo game. I had to use the mailbox cheats to keep it interesting.

Crows9014d ago (Edited 14d ago )

Diablo 3 was really hard at launch....then they made it easy.

They love scaling difficulty though.

anast13d ago

D2 is the pinnacle. I still fire it up from time to time.

GrmpyolGamer 14d ago

Considering that the PS cloud steaming is garbage compared to XCloud and is limited to certain devices this isn't something to brag about. Wake me up when Diablo is on PS plus

Let's Be Real, There Is Nothing "Micro" About Microtransactions Anymore

Microtransactions have gotten ridiculously overpriced in recent years, with titles now offering cosmetic skins worth more than some games.

Terry_B15d ago

Yup..this is 100% the sad truth

z2g14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

The elephant in the room tho is personal accountability. It’s easy (albeit basic) to blame the big, bad corpo, but microtransactions wouldn’t be where they are if gamers didn’t spend money on them. As it stands the MTs usually make more than the game. Publishers know raising game prices will cause backlash, so they do MTs to compensate. But the adult conversation is consumers determine the success of products with their wallets. So if MTs are a huge thing, it’s because we as consumers told them we like them by giving them a lot of money for them. So if you don’t want them to be a thing, convince your fellow gamers to stop buying them and expect that games will be decently more expensive. You all can disagree all you want, but reality is a bitch, and eventually you have to live in it.

anast14d ago

Trying to convince people is the least realistic thing. If we are trying to be adults, actual action is what changes things not "convincing campaigns" on platforms owned by the people 'you' are going against. It's madness and idealistic.

ApocalypseShadow14d ago

Easier said than done. I've told gamers for years to not buy micro transactions, expensive dlc, etc. Gamers bought it anyway. Didn't fit on a DVD that would have fit on a Blu-ray disc.

I also told some gamers to not pay for online like Xbox Live because it would force the rest of the industry to only offer playing online if you pay for it. Told them not to support a broken console that Red Ringed. To not support Xbox One because Microsoft tried to take away game ownership and how you play your games. To not pay for a console by one manufacturer where a, now 3 trillion worth, didn't make enough games at the level of Nintendo or Sony who are worth less money.

How much of that did you support anyway with your money then go back and read your comment again.

notachance14d ago

yeah that was like telling people not to do drugs or alcohol, these game companies invested a lot of money in researching about how to make people buy MTs, from creating mechanics like loot boxes, purposely make the game grindy, all the way to menu designs and what color and sound effects played when gamers bought MTs.

It was specifically engineered to take advantage of vulnerable and prone to addiction people.

bradfh14d ago

@z2g
People always struggle with issues like drinking, drugs, and gambling. But in games, especially those played by kids, microtransactions are another way companies take advantage of them. It's a problem that needs addressing.

S2Killinit14d ago

I recommend everyone read this article.

My suggestion is to name these transactions, what they ARE: Hidden-fees.

isarai15d ago

I mean except for the amount of content you're paying for.

Hugodastrevas14d ago

There never was, the only time I paid for a microtransaction was on Blacklight Retribution (PS4) and it was because I enjoyed the game a lot so I felt the devs should get something for all that entertainment (€5 "membership")

-Foxtrot14d ago

The devs wouldn’t get that though, that shit goes straight to the higher ups who do f*** all let’s be honest.

Hugodastrevas14d ago

Probably, but I wasn't as cynical back then and €5 wasn't a big ask to get the guns with grinding instead of renting them, and the game was good (still is on the PS5/4)

CrimsonWing6914d ago (Edited 14d ago )

I couldn’t believe what Blizzard charged for horse armor and cosmetics in Diablo 4…

I remember back in the day when a season pass was $15 and you got everything included in it. Now, I see them at $60 and you still don’t get everything.

CantThinkOfAUsername14d ago

That's just Blizzard. Unlike Bethesda's $0.99 horse armour, Blizzard's first microtransaction, Sparkle Pony, cost $15.

Phoenix7614d ago

Bethesda out did themselves a few years back with 76. They released a Xmas bundle for half price on day of release! So, was meant to sell for only $12 from day 1, but tried to convince everyone it was half price, by marking it at $24!

Shane Kim14d ago

As soon as gaming wasn't deemed nerdy anymore, and reached the casuals this happened. We're smart, but casuals play mobile games and other stuff, and don't really have anything to compare. They think gaming is supposed to be like this and pay for in game purchases.
