Fan Makes a Sonic Game in Dreams Called "Sonic: Wild Blur"

Just last month, we posted a fan-made horror game created using Media Molecule’s Dreams.

Mind blowing!!! Imagine all the incredible Mario games we would have if Nintendo wasn't so overprotective of their IPs

I wouldn't say it is mind blowing. It's really cool what people can make in Dreams, but this Sonic game is clearly a work in progress and looks very unfinished.

SegaGamer1475d ago

Basically like the many other fan made Sonic projects over the years. 99.9% of them go nowhere.

I think this will be shut down soon

oakshin1475d ago

Sega don't care sonic is on the "white list" sonic even has it's on section when you search for games on dreams

GamerRN1475d ago

Until something gets too popular... Not sure where this imaginary white list is, but every developer will protect against loss of sales

DarXyde1475d ago

Ever heard of Sonic Mania?

Chaos_Order1474d ago

Sega have LITERALLY SUPPORTED fan games and taken potshots at Nintendo for their stance.

I think this is one of the reasons why Sonic could never reach the height of Mario. Sega is just being too carefree with Sonic, and the quality of the games suffer (The only great Sonic game we had in years was Sonic Mania).

Chaos_Order1474d ago

*Says Sonic games fail because they don't shut down fangames*
*Praises Sonic Mania, a literal fangame*

I'm sorry, what?

GamerRN1474d ago

I'll explain it to you Chaos since you didn't get it...

You see, over saturation is one part of it. When you have a lot of low quality products out there representing your brand, not all people can differentiate what is actually part of your actual catalog. You'd think that the average person can understand, but the average person is actually quite stupid.

Tarnishing a brand is another problem. As bad games are made using the IP, it starts to tarnish the brand name as quality is no longer associated with the product.

They also run the risk of people actually doing it better then them, which can also hurt the product.

Protecting an IP is important for quality, reputation, and overall maintaining of a property. You have to take care of something otherwise you'll destroy it...

Bahamut-Shin1475d ago (Edited 1475d ago )

yeah, how dare nintendo to not let people create pirate copies of Mario, for Play Station. shame on them.

if they want to make a Mario game, they are legal ways to do so, just look what Ubisoft did with Mario + Rabbids, they present the concept and they like it. if not just do your own dang thing!

is Nintendo overprotective? yes, and a lot but don't act like if they were in the wrong

Mario is one if not the biggest video game IPs there is, if they don't protect it anyone could easily made a pirate game profit from it, even if it is a free fan game, there nothing stopping someone else from taking it and selling it. the casual public wouldn't know o care, they i'll see Mario and buy it.

Si-Fly1475d ago

It’s not mind blowing, it looks just as shit as any other 3D Sonic game.

If there was one PC version that should have existed it’s Dreams

I’m super glad they will be going back to something more traditional gaming wise.

Cacabunga26d ago

I’m sure they’ll find something creative to implement like Tearaway on vita. What a gem 💎 that thing was!!!

Abear2126d ago

My dream was DreamsVR and creating landscapes, characters, and sculptures using that amazing toolbox in vr, that would have been something imo.

ocelot0726d ago

I thought It has vr support?

Amplitude26d ago

It did but it came out as an update LONG after the game was essentially dead

P_Bomb26d ago

Dreams PC was the dream. Woulda given the game a much needed boost. Here’s hoping they follow it up well.

phoenixwing26d ago

If sony had any sense they'd be making a pc version pronto

mkis00726d ago

They probably ran into the same problem they did with the potential of last of us factions....the support needed was just too much to consider expanding to more platforms for a smallish studio.

Abnor_Mal26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

I use to say this when the game was first releasing, many kept saying it would not be possible, something about the toolsets.

I said this was one game that needed to be on as many platforms as possible, including PC and Xbox just like how Minecraft is everywhere.

Goodguy0126d ago

Creation tools just don't work on console very well. It's definitely more suited for PC, and it's very odd Sony decided not to port it over. Good MM is working on an actual game instead.

Dreams Dev Media Molecule Says Layoffs Impact Planned Community and Curation Support

IGN writes: "Media Molecule has said the layoffs at the Sony-owned studio have affected plans for ongoing community and curation support in Dreams."

Inverno70d ago

How self sustained can DREAM be when it's basically stuck on PS4? I don't think it's even gotten a PS5 upgrade. Ending support for what is essentially a game making engine is basically death. SONY did DREAMS dirty.
