“Dancing around some [Non-Disclosure Agreements],” game designer and developer Mike Bithell let some information out about DualSense controller's haptic feedback on the latest episode of Play, Watch, Listen.
Beta starts today for invited participants in select countries.
As the new year kicks into high gear with an amazing slate of PS5 game releases like The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Tekken 8 and Helldivers 2, along with FINAL FANTASY VII Rebirth later this month,SIE are pleased to roll out another PS5 system software beta today with a number of quality-of-life enhancements and new features.
Listing for the DualSense V2 spotted over on Best Buy. Featuring improved battery life over its predecessor, the DualSense V2 could become a must-have PS5 accessory for those looking to stay wireless while gaming.
I have the Cobalt Blue controller and it lasts twice as long as my launch white controller did out of the box already.
never had a problem with the battery life or stick drift good to know that they improved it.
I was thinking all it really needs is a battery upgrade and there ya have it. Hall effect sensors would be great too but this is a good upgrade.
I have no problem with battery life, but what I would have liked on this new version would be back buttons/paddles.
Sony seems to be working on a new version of the DualSense that would improve on the PS5 controller with some extremely helpful features.
Pretty awesome. Hopefully they add a bigger battery to boot.
“The button hints would also be spelled out on the controller's touchpad, which would actually double as a display. This is not the first patent indicating that the DualSense 2 might feature a touchscreen instead of a touchpad, as another such IP filing emerged online back in September. As for the concept at hand, the controller that it describes wouldn't just be capable of lighting up its buttons, including its shoulder triggers, but also both of its analog sticks.“
Cool
Hopefully any upgrades and the like are kept for the PS6. If we start wasting things on mid gen consoles then the next gen isn’t as “wow” worthy compared to holding out and seeing a massive difference from something released 8 years ago or something.
Honestly, I would dig a screen on a controller. I always liked the Dreamcast implementation of the VMUS, which could be simulated by something like this. The buttons lighting up could be cool for some accessibility-specific scenarios. Still, for general usage, I can't think of any potential uses that can't be achieved by ordinary buttons.
That said. If they are going to make a new controller, I would love them to invest in more repairability. Modular sticks, easier access to the battery, etc.
Cant wait to get my hands on it, Im most looking forward to the adaptive triggers, racing games are gonna benefit from this, the feeling of breaks and accelerator should convey well through them, also haptics will probably be able to convey grip loss etc tyre sequel from the speaker maybe? Looking forward to seeing what devs do with it.
Sounds like a lot of bull. I'm a Sony fan, Xbox, and Nintendo. The controller looks cool, but sounds like another gimmick. The people making the true step forward is motion controllers in VR. Hoping to see the PS5VR system and I hope it is better than the Valve Index (Very quality device).
No other controller like this it's going to be extremely fun to use. Those that buy a Ps5 or a series X will have that new gen feel. This is something you don't get on pc you just buy parts
Probably be a feature i will instantly turn off like vibration
