I have the PS3 version of the game and really don't care about missing this DLC. The game itself never really thrilled me. I hardly even played it so far. I'm going to start over soon since they added trophy support but I just didn't care for GTAIV. Rockstar changed way too much. I really hate how you go flying through your windshield if you lose control of your car. You just can't do as much anymore. They took a lot of fun out of GTA in this game.

Previous GTA have:
-Assets and missions assets
-Driving schools
-Gang Wars
-Stadium Races (and the others races like in gta4)
-BMX, planes, parachutes, karts way more type of cars
-paramedic, pizza, valet, firefighter missions
-many others things and all the things in GTA4 (except the useless cell and internet messaging which is used by gf and friends to bother you). Even the arcade (not counting the casino games) have way more than only one game. Maybe, you talk about the fabulous new bowling and/or dart???

For the storylines, it's a personal opinion...but i like the CJ story. Still, GTA4 was great, only not as great ( and deep ) than the previous GTA (solo). The GTA4 biggest and only add-on with all the cut his the great online.

Like anyone cares about the storyline in GTA games. Big deal. I didn't play the other GTA games for months because of the storyline. I played them because I could do whatever I wanted. This game doesn't really let you do that. I used to spend hours just getting my wanted level up high and have huge police chases. Then run around and find a firetruck or other big truck and smash through the cops. GTAIV makes it way too hard to do that. One mistake and you're dead. The driving just isn't any fun. I don't want to worry about losing control and flying through my windshield. This game just isn't as much fun.

I played GTAIV but stopped halfway and the restarted after the trophy support but this time I stopped even earlier than the 1st time I played it! the game itself is full of BORING!

The game is clearly amazing. The driving's probably boring cos ur crashing all the time due to ur lack of skills. If you're flying out of your windscreen loads then ur a leper. Seriously, GTA IV just isn't that good. It's a pretty decent game in it's own right, the story's sort of interesting and the gameplay mechanics are quite tidy but it just misses everything that made the GTA games so fun to play... ie. the fun stuff.

A lot of people seemed to hate the new GTA because of it's more realistic approach and because it was lacking alot of extra features from the past gta games. But the main focus on this GTA game was to show a more realistic city and have a good story!

Rockstar will probably add in the extra features that gamers miss from the previous entries, but one thing I didn't like about the past GTA games was that the cities never looked or felt realistic enough. Atmosphere is important to me, which is why I consider this to be the best game of all of them! The city feels dirty and lonely, like real city living. They make you feel bad if you hit an old lady crossing the street. The emotion they put in the game has made me cut down on the stupid crimes, and only commit crimes on those who deserve it!

I don't know.... maybe I just appreciate the little details and extra effort the developers put in this game than the average gamer, who has probably had a sheltered life and cannot understand things that they have not experienced in real life! I don't know! Maybe I just appreciate it more cause I have been waiting 2 decades for games to have graphics and experiences like this!

That's the thing Realistic =/= Fun. At least not most of the time. I respect their boldness in taking an EXTREMELY popular franchise in a drastically new dimension but the game just isn't fun to play. Once the story is over, there's not an awful lot else you can do. Previous GTAs kept me going for months, no, years and it would take me about half that time to actually finish the story. For GTA IV, I finished the story in about a week because there was just not enough else to do.

The story wasn't that bad. It was different from the usual "I wan't to be a master criminial, but I'm a thug" story. And when you unlock the 3rd Island, all the emotion is drained out by the last missions.

what killed the game for me was

-the lack of Rhino tanks
-the driving (I've been spoiled by Burnout Paradise)
-the stupid cell phone with this buisness about friends and girlfriends
-the multiplayer is too broken to enjoy
-the cop system, but I like the idea of a perimeter you have to flea from. It just needs a bit of work.
-the 200 pigeons with nothing every 10 or 20 pigeons. This was the worst "hidden packages" hunting I had to do.

and on a side note, the fist fight controls needs just a teenie bit tweaking.

It's not an "area the size of San Andreas".
It's not adding in a bunch of content that fans thought were missing in GTA4.

It's adding some missions with a different character - in the same places as you've already been.

It might take a long time to complete - but it will just be more of the same, in a DMC4 "let's make more content by getting you to replay the same bits with a different character" kind of way.

It depends on how much it costs, but it sounds as though it won't really be worth your money, especially if you've already got bored of GTA4.

Realistic can equal fun, to the person who likes it! CoD 4 was a more realistic game than alot of other military shooters, and it was fun as hell to me! Some loved the new Socom, but some didn't! It's just all about perception! Alot of people were probably expecting GTA to be like the past ones, but was excited to find out about the change up. I will admit, that at first, I was thrown off by the changes when I actually played it. But after some time with it, I loved it and respected it once I stopped comparing it to previous GTA games.

@Thor... You mean to tell me that you have explored every nook and cranny of the city? You remember the city backwards and forwards?

I felt the city was too big, and am looking forward to more missions so I get a chance to see areas that I might have missed! The city is not as stretched out as San Andreas, but you have alot more places to go within the area provided!

Do me a favor and play the game without thinking about the fact that it's a GTA game! Just play it like it's a new IP and not compare it to any other GTA games. Explore the city. Don't ride in a car and just walk around and look for alleys, stairways, etc.

There is alot of stuff about GTA 4 that some gamers might not have figured out yet! I prefer to look at it as fun in a different way!

Perhaps the dlc would have fit on a bluray..but you are forgetting something..obviously the dlc was not complete, so therefore it would have meant the game being delayed in order to put it on the same game disc.....that's if it was coming to the ps3 to begin with.

It's not just DLC tho is it? It's episodic content that happens to be the first one on a console that's only available via download. So it's kind of a big test. It's not like when Half life Episodes 1 and 2 came out people said 'that was a long time for DLC.' It just is taking to long to come out. This is a fast paced gaming world and people move on to other things. Not to mention a lot of people were hoping for more from GTA. Less repetitive missions, better graphics, and A game that once you were done with story mode you would still roam around and enjoy. They only got 1 out of 3. The missions were still very repetitive (ie friends), after story mode people got bored and wishing the DLC was coming out 3 mmths after the game came out. So yes the graphics were better and thats about it.

I never even finished the GTA4 main story. I got bored with it and just never went back to it. Anyone that enjoyed GTA4, I hope they enjoy the DLC, but I wouldn't buy the GTA4 DLC even if it was coming to the PS3.

If you ask me this DLC is almost a little too late because by the time it does come out, people will be playing other games.

The only exclusive DLC that I even care about is the Fallout 3 DLC.

Microsoft, the reason they have so much money to throw around is because of XBL. That was a very smart business decision on their part and they are definitely reaping the benefits of it.

Just break down the numbers:
14 million XBL subscribers, of that 14 (I'm shooting low here) let's say 7 million are Gold.

7 * 50 = 350 million dollars a year so 50 million is less than 2 months of running XBL. And that's not including if there is more people paying for XBL.

Me personally I think it's a rip off, but if.......IF they are using the money to secure extra features, then it's a good thing for it's supporting gamers.

Fair enough some may not like the new direction but i for one loved the story and thought for the first next gen GTAIV it hit all the right spots.

The fact is that GTA IV IS overrated, that it is much worse then previous GTA games, and so ppl have every right to be able disappointed with it. As an action/adventure game its pretty good, but it fails at being a sandbox experience.

Maybe R* tried to do just that, break away from the typical GTA formula, but IMO it was a huge mistake.

Plus, as I mentioned before, the story is broken, and the game's finale (regardless of whichever you chose) is probably the worst ever in a GTA game...

Yup, while there are a few actual 360 owners who've commented on not being interested in the DLC just about all the hater comments are from PS3 owners. Who cares, this will sell a lot and I know I will be picking it up and enjoy the hell out of it. GTA IV felt like an evolution of the franchise from teenage angst to more mature themes. They got Saints Row 2 for the wannabe gangster tween who just wants to break stuff.

A LONG TIME AGO. Waiting until Feb is just really dumb as more and more people are moving on to other games. I know I recently started playing the PS3 version again for trophies but I am getting Gears 2 today and that will be that for a while. This would be great news if the DLC was coming by the end of the year once the initial hype of some games dies down. But instead it looks like MS will want to use this to compete with Killzone 2 in which case, they will get slaughtered.

why are there so many haters out there who just bring this game down, honestly in my opinion this game was the best of 2008 i am still playing it and i love it. The realism is what makes the game fun and makes you think twice about making retarded decisions (ramming your car into the wall at high speed and expecting to not fly out). yes the driving has a new feel but i love it, its a almost realistic handle that does present some problems. I will definately buy this dlc and the other one. plus who cares about those stupid ambulance and firfighter missions it was the same crap only with more people burning and running away or with more bleeding people. Plus this game is fun to play online IF you have friends to play with, otherwise its not AS fun. (freee mode :D)

Its unfortunate that so many of u didnt enjoy GTA IV, I felt it was a great game. Im not sure if it was a 10, but pretty close if not. The story was cool to me because you could never quite know what would happen next. And I really liked that u had to choose whether or not to kill certain people. Not sure why they cut back on the clothes and a couple of other things, but GTA still definitely has more than enough stuff going on to keep u busy.

I will definitely pick up the DLC, especially if its no more than $20. As for comparing it to Killzone 2, thats just silly. Two completely different games, and two completely different releases.

Now I've finally seen what this GTA 4 DLC is all about. And my conclusion so far quite frankly, is that I'm seriously not impressed. I thought they would have not just added a new storyline or character but also have improved and added many new gameplay features to the game that were missing and found in previous versions of GTA. So you gonna play as a some biker criminal? Nah just not my cup of tea man, I'm not feelin this at all so far, and I swear down it's nothing to do with hate. I was hoping they were gonna:

* Be continuation of Niko's character and building on it.
* Add the creating-your-own-gang feature from previous GTA titles.
* Add the Properties/Business/Assets features that earn you money.
* A wider variation of side activities and missions.
* Allow more access to more buildings and add more stores and shops.
* Add minor missing features like using a bus for transport, a stadium etc.

Well it seems like there is none of this in the DLC and it's adamn shame. Right now this DLC is looking weak.

LittleBigPlanet is a game with a long lifespan and is certain to push a steady stream of PS3 consoles over an extended period of time due to its mass market appeal and charm.

Many people, myself included, bought a PS3 to play MGS4, after all there must be some reason why the PS3 outsold the 360 this year.

On the topic of the DLC, sure N4G users are a small percentage of the people who purchased GTAIV, but its this group of core gamers that are the ones expected to buy this DLC, so I expect MS to be somewhat dissapointed with sales.

I was ultimately disappointed with GTAiv because of the annoying repetitive friend stuff and the crap mini games. i got to the second island and stopped playing. I will wait for user feedback on future GTA releases. and the whole 360 exclusive DLC stuff smells of runny poo especially as it was Play station owners who made the company rich in the first place. Why pay 50 million for that? Seriously Saints row 2 is more fun than GTA4 for me so why would I want to play another characters story? Customization is the future of the Sandbox genre and San andreas had that why are they reverting to old methods of story telling. I won't be getting the 360 version for this KZ2 and SF4 come out the same day lame.

Imagine that, the PS3 fanboys all claiming how bad this game is. I wonder why they would do that. Could it be the unbearable pain, and discomfort they are experiencing from being butt hurt. I know it, you know it, we all know it-if this weer still a PS exclusive, or if this happened to be the PS3 version gettin the exclusive dlc they would love it like no other. I mean look at how excited PS3 fanboys got when the Trophy patch was sannounced. That got thousands of GTA IV owners to go back play through it again just for the trophies. The 360's exclusive DLC will not only have additional achievements, but completely new content, and lots of it.

This is set to relase nearly a year after GTA IV, and falls in that time when big new game releases are a bit slow. People will just be finishing up all those games Santa brought them and just in time for a bit of GTA action. Just watch what happens come February this is going to be big, its going to be fun and it is going to feel fresh, it is the cherry on top.....that is if you have the 360 version.

p.s. Oh and don't forget, this DLC is just half of what is coming exclusively for the 360 in terms of DLC for GTA IV.

"year" means all 12 months sony won like 6 or 7 months. it might of won most of the year but not all of it. did you not see the npd numbers? the 360 crushed the ps3 last month it cought up to what sony sold in all those months in just 1 month. incase you havnt noticed the 360 has great momentum right now, the momentum that sony was supposed to have "all" year long..
