Bethesda Promised Refund On Fallout 76, Then Bailed Out The Next Day

One of many disappointed Fallout 76 players contacted Bethesda for a refund on the catastrophic game. Although Bethesda promised a refund, they bailed out the next day with an unconvincing excuse.

Scumbags, what a bunch of POS.

Eonjay2003d ago

You just gotta shut the hell up and give them your money /s

Goldenhawk5212003d ago

Why was Scofio's comment marked as "innapropriate"? Innapropriate for who?

Eonjay2003d ago

Because even though we know that Phil and Todd are literally best friends (steady boyfriends in the gaming universe really) and even though Todd went to war with Sony on Phil's behalf while Phil paid millions to market Todds POS 76, we have to pretend. Anything else is inappropriate.

I'm loving every single moment of this FO76 saga so far. Bethesda's reputation and image as a company are nosediving as quickly or faster than the price of the game itself and I AM ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT!

remember when Todd Howard was the champion of the "gamers" because he was brave to call out Sony on cross-play only to be proven that they themselves had no intention to do it on FO76 - an online-only game?? THAT was not that long ago but now HAHAHAHA I guess Sony is laughing hard at this asshole of a company.

Screw you scumbag Bugthesda!

jaymacx2003d ago

well I agree with what you said mostly, I however don't think Sony is happy when a big 3rd party game bombs on their platform. They make money on sales of these games.

sander97022003d ago

This game was all about making money from day 1, they tried to f- us all over with this fraud and it failed miserably.
Bethesda has lost A LOT of my respect and I already lost a lot after Fallout 4 so now I'm down to about zero respect for them.
The worst part is that Fallout 76 is the cut multiplayer from Fallout 4 that they only decided to bring it back from the dead so they didn't have to make a real game until next-gen, Fallout 76 is an asset flip in other words.

trooper_2003d ago

Agreed. Hope this company goes out of business. Treating your customers like dirt is a crap move.

@xbi, they have a point actually. An all digital future would be a nightmare fgs.

DarkOcelet2004d ago

I am pretty sure that is the reason they didn't put it on Steam. Cause most people would have refunded it before the 2 hour mark. Scummy bethesda

jaymacx2003d ago

they cant say because of piracy LOL.. Its Online only!

rpgenius4202003d ago

You can get a refund on xbox within the 2 hours too.

2004d ago
King_Noctis2003d ago

So let me get this straight, your blame the whole digital future just because one company acts like a POS?

ShadowWolf7122003d ago (Edited 2003d ago )

"One Company"
>ignores plethora of examples of scumbaggery re: digital-only purchases

2pacalypsenow2003d ago

A lot of comapanies don’t take any returns on digital games.

Servbot412003d ago

Pretty sure they have to offer refunds in the EU. Correct me if I'm wrong.

WilliamSheridan2003d ago

Xbox one gives you the option of digital refund as long as you played less than 2 hours

pinkcrocodile752003d ago

So what are you saying? That ALL digital game vendors have done this and by this we don't even know yet as they could be automated response emails.

First lets get all the facts, then if this IS correct, lets not use the same brush to tar all vendors the same in your attempts to bolster a horseh!t argument against digital media.

SirenAries2003d ago

The future should be gamers who are smart enough not to download or purchase anything before reviews come out. Reviews are there to protect the customer . These customers got what they deserved because they know the policy. that's their fault. but that's clearly asking too much from these people to actually take Responsibility for their choice in purchasing a game without seeing reviews , let alone downloading the damn thing.

cell9892003d ago

Which is why I’ll save digital downloads for small titles and physical copies of full priced games

ChrisW2003d ago

Falling for fake news? Yup!

Eonjay2003d ago

How is this fake? Is Bethesda really issuing refunds?

Bleucrunch2003d ago

Stay out of grown folk business @ChrisW there is nothing fake about a subpar game being released at full price and consumers not very happy about it.

ChrisW2003d ago

It's a conspiracy... Nothing but fake news!

Chexs19902003d ago

You working for Bethesda?
Right now it's more or less universally agreed upon, that Bethesda made a s**t game, wanting to cash in without much effort.

And I'm a longtime ES fan, with an inkling of love towards the fallout games as well. This whole F76 theater is just sad for both the company and the gamers who expected better from aforementioned company.

MasterCornholio2003d ago

“Greetings!

Thank you for contacting the Bethesda Customer Support Team.

Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to begin processing that refund for you right at this moment. There is nothing to worry about though. We’ll begin processing the refund as soon as we can and we’ll reach back out to you via email to let you know once we’ve started that process."

The first email could have been a mistake but regardless given how broken the game is the correct thing for them to do is to issue refunds to those who desire it.

Two trillion dollar company that just can't wait to put as many people possible out of work as fast as possible.

It feels like every single thing they do is making gaming worse and destroying the industry.

....you know it takes people to program the AI.... right? It isnt like it is sentient. We haven't reach skynet level of situation or anywhere close to the matrix just yet.

Why all the hate? Im actually excited about this! Always wanted this kind of immersion, and an AI companion with me all the time helping me out knowing the status of my skills/inventory/progress and giving me tips on the best approach or how to craft something specific is game changing for the industry.

Hate all you want about AI, but this is just the start and I can see the potential already. You wont be complaining in the next 5-10 years about this, but rather complain if a game hasn’t implemented it.

MrDead13h ago

Yes we can't wait for the work of others to be used without the need to pay them so that MS can profit even more from the people they fire.

I_am_Batman13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

There is no chance I'd ever use something like this, especially if it's not part of the core game design, but a layer on top of it. It's way too much handholding. Many games already feel like busy work, because they don't let the player figure things out on their own. Having a real-time interactive guide defeats the purpose of playing the game in the first place in my opinion.

If this were to become the standard like you predict, we'll see more and more video games get away with bad design, because people will just be used to ask for help from the AI companion anyway.

Number1TailzFan12h ago

Well Nintendo don't need this with some of their games these days, with invincible characters, items, easy bosses etc.. they do the hand holding built in

helicoptergirl13h ago

Takes "hand holding" in games to a whole new level.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 launch trailer will send shivers down your spine

Ninja Theory's latest trailer for their highly anticipated narrative action-adventure Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 is absolute cinema.

Reaper22_1d 2h ago

Like I said before, buying Ninja Theory was one of the smartest moves by Microsoft. Games looks incredible.

Rynxie22h ago

Unfortunately, their games aren't big sellers. Will MS shut them down if hellblade 2 sells below expectations?

outsider162419h ago

If it sells below expectations, then i expect it to come to PS5.

Elda19h ago

The game may be a critical hit & still can get shut down. I highly doubt most XB owners will buy this game including the fact that it's digital only at $50. Most folks that have Gamepass will play the game through the sub service. If the reviews tomorrow are just average to low then that's another problem.

Obscure_Observer21h ago

"Like I said before, buying Ninja Theory was one of the smartest moves by Microsoft. Games looks incredible."

Indeed.

Just a few hours to go

I can´t wait!

z2g1d 1h ago

badass. already installed via gamepass. if its as great as the first one I will pay for the whole game.

glenn197921h ago

I just don't understand why all the down votes

jwillj2k41d 1h ago

Here we go again. Is this a game or a choose your own adventure???

purple1011d 1h ago

if you choose left, turn to page 39, if you proceed forward, turn to page 43, to turn right, page 209, you finished the book early,

no but seriously this looks like Microsofts first hit, or should I say, first game of standout quality.

jwillj2k41d ago

Never questioned the quality. Question is will there be a need for the controller.

anast20h ago

The time machine 'choose your own' were awesome.

Tedakin22h ago

If it's anything like the first game, you will spend a lot of timing walking and solving puzzles, with some fights thrown in.

Elda1d ago

LOL! Didn't send any shivers down my spine but I'll demo it after midnight tonight through Gamepass to see what it's giving.

Obscure_Observer22h ago

After the midnight? I see...

Day one as expected for another game that you said you had zero interest.

Elda19h ago(Edited 19h ago)

Finally making a re-appearance. When the heat was on about XB closing studios you were crickets on all articles. Now that the heat has died down all of a sudden you're here on an XB exclusive article or should I say a timed exclusive...lol!! If you must know I can demo this game at midnight because the University I work at is closed for the summer so I can play video games until my heart's content until the end of August when I go back to work. That's what Gamepass is for, knowing I would not spend $50 on Hellblade 2 because the first one I thought was boring so I'm going to see if this one is still boring or is it interesting by demoing the game.

Elda19h ago

Why not I have a year subscription to Gamepass, I don't have to spend $50 on a digital only game that I may not like including I'm on a lengthy vacation from work.

rlow11d ago

It looks amazing, I’m hoping the reviews are solid. You can tell the studio really poured their heart and soul into this one.
