Wow. Stunned. Cannot wait for this. A trailer that tells you everything...and nothing. Day 1.

Eonjay2407d ago

This is unexpected to say the least but another great addition to the PlayStation library

LegoIsAwesome2407d ago

Awesome. But kinda prefer if they chose to develop a sequel to Second Son's bad ending where possible Cole returns.

nix2407d ago

This game is going to be epic.

bouzebbal2407d ago

Why is PS so relevant in the eyes of gamers???
For surprises like these.
One more exclusive IP, one!!!

EatCrow2407d ago

Unexpected but well received.
Western Studio developing an Eastern game.

Very interested.

thekhurg2407d ago

Gaming dreams coming true. Wanted an open world samurai/ninja game since I was a little kid.

freshslicepizza2407d ago

Looks good, I love anything to do with samurai and ninja. Tenchu was great years ag

Outside_ofthe_Box2407d ago (Edited 2407d ago )

Wow, Sucker Punch really wasn't twiddling their thumbs after Second Son. They've been quietly developing a potential next Great Open World game. Can't Wait. I hope there are tons of things to do in this world.

starchild2407d ago (Edited 2407d ago )

Instantly my most wanted game. I've been waiting for a game like this my whole life. Sony does so incredibly well producing exciting exclusives.

Master of Unlocking2407d ago

Wonder if that's going to be enough, even with God of War, The Last of Us Part II, Dreams, Detroit Become Human, Spider-Man and the rest, to hold a candle to that other console, with all the horsepower it has. I heard recently that exclusive games don't count and how much closer you can get to native 4K is where it's at...

JBaby3432407d ago

@Master: You had to bring the console war into this. Everyone else was commenting how amazing the game looks (it does) and you went and did that. Leave that talk for other threads or at least when provoked.

Weeblordbad2407d ago

@JBaby343

Welcome to N4G, everything is ammunition to fight an enemy that doesn't really exist.

StormSnooper2407d ago (Edited 2407d ago )

Oh man this game is really gonna hit the spot! I was aching for a samurai game, looks feiggen awesome! This is why PlayStation never disappoints. Well done.

ZaWarudo2407d ago

Got some Tenchu vibes from that last bit.

morganfell2407d ago (Edited 2407d ago )

Looks like its your blade and wits against the Mongols and maybe some pirate factions if this is indeed the historic Tsushima Island. Or maybe the pirate factions will be friendly to you.

rainslacker2407d ago

@morgan

Maybe they'll do it where you can either be friendly or unfriendly to different factions. would be in the vein of Infamous a bit.

morganfell2407d ago

@Rain,

Definite possibility. Do xyz and you curry favor. Decide to raid them and there are other skills and items to be gathered that are wholly different than if you had entered into a friendlier relationship.

JBaby3432407d ago

That would definitely be cool and would add another dimension to the game as well as giving an inFamous shout.

Finallyyyyyyyyy when that sucker punch logo popped up you already know how loud it got in this household.

rainslacker2407d ago

A game like this I was thinking was from one of their Japanese studios, and if I had to guess, even the crowd was probably interested, but the reaction at the end was because of the Sucker Punch logo at the end. They're a good dev, and people that follow gaming know it. Couple SP with an interesting concept, a strong trailer, and a snippet of good looking game play brings more applause.

kevnb2407d ago

I don’t know what to think without gameplay, but I’m interested.

alb18992407d ago

I'm all in with this one.

rainslacker2407d ago

I wasn't expecting anything like this from SP. Can hardly wait to see more, and of course play it. Sony is building up their other developers besides ND and SSM to be absolutely amazing for the future.

Unexpected and it looks fantastic!

MVGeneral2407d ago

Mature games like these and last of us, become human, GOW, horizon, uncharted and etc is why I PERSONALLY choose ps4 over other systems like the switch.
Even if switch games get high scores, just means it's good for young and casual audiences. Like Disney movies they get high scores and mass appeal but doesn't mean the movies are better than say pulp fiction, goodfellas, shawshank redemption and etc.

Neonridr2407d ago

you'd be surprised at how often Disney movies have adults in mind with jokes, references, etc.

BOTW and Mario didn't score highly because they are for younger or casual audiences, it's because they are great games. Just as a heads up, other systems can have great games besides the PS4. That doesn't mean the games you listed aren't fantastic, but just something that needs to be pointed out.

I love both my Switch and my PS4. The sheer amount of content I have to play between the two is actually starting to become a problem.

2407d ago
goldwyncq2407d ago

You're most probably still a kid yourself if you seriously think Disney and Nintendo are only for kids.

Ashlen2407d ago

What are you too mature to play a Zelda or a Mario game? They get high scores because they are fun to play. I can't believe this comment got so many agrees.

acptest2407d ago

This is the stupidest comment I've read today

CodeNameTBW22407d ago

I'm step in on MVGen defense Nintendo games are not as good as the scores they are given. And I have nothing against Nintendo it's just Nintendo now makes games for little kids you guys can get mad down vote this if you want, but it's true.

Back in Gamecube days and before that Nintendo made amazing games (etc. melee) but after wii everything got very kid friendly. And as far as the high scores go. I feel that they are comimg from just old gamers from the 80's era. Who now their own review websites. They get caught in the whole nostalgia and give the game close to or perfect score, simply because it allows them to relive their childhood.

But if you look at Nintendo games like the new zelda and marrio without any favoritism and just take the game as it stands on it's own merits it's just not that great. Good but not perfect by a very long shot.
Sorry Nintendo fans I mean no disrespect.

Nes_Daze2407d ago

It's true, not much of a challenge when you're just rehashing the same characters and themes... storylines are not that difficult, but when you're making a sequel to the Last of Us, the margin of error is very thin.

2407d ago
Jayszen2407d ago

@MVGeneral

The games on Switch while appealing to younger audiences also appeal to adults. I started playing games in the 80's as a teenager and I consider myself a hardcore gamer who is loyal to the Playstation world but who still appreciates good games from other consoles. I still look forward to a new Zelda or Mario game from Nintendo and I am sure there are many more like me. These games do well because they are great games, not because they are aimed at younger or casual audiences. It is a pity there areen't more games like Bayonetta on the Nintendo console but Mario and Zelda make a good change from the likes of The Last of Us, Infamous or God of War on Playstation. Brings out the kid in me!

Very unexpected. It's a beautiful trailer. The subject matter + SP talent really has me excited.

WaqarYounis82407d ago

Game looks better than anythong that has been on the horseshit xbox so far.

IamTylerDurden12407d ago

Perhaps this will be to SP as what Horizon is to GG..? I love Sony's willingness to let their devs branch out and make the games they want.

Xenophon_York2407d ago (Edited 2407d ago )

Ghost looks phenomenal. Nioh is super great, but it's nice to get a more cinematic take on feudal Japan and samurai battle every once in a while.

Stoked.

Imalwaysright2407d ago (Edited 2407d ago )

It's an action game and its an open world game. Don't know if it will be as cinematic as other Sony franchises but focus on gameplay and freedom is what I would expect considering how the game was described.

Xenophon_York2407d ago

As a final year cinematography student rest assured the footage that was shown was gushing with all the elements that a cinematography strives for.

Pintheshadows2407d ago

Agreed. The cinematography shown here is pretty astounding. The tone and colour palette looks gorgeous as well.

rainslacker2407d ago

I felt Horizon was pretty cinematic despite being open world. Infamous: SS had a pretty heavy cinematic feel despite being open world.

I don't think the genre is as important as how they put in the cinematic. It's just that a lot of open world games don't bother with doing more cinematic cut-scenes.

AKS2407d ago

Imagine how this game will look with HDR. I was thinking about that all the way through. It's packed with vivid and dark colors, precisely where HDR tends to be most impressive.

Xenophon_York2407d ago

Yowzers....how correct you are. Didn't even consider that. Good thinking.

I hope HDR makes the game.

hench072407d ago

Looks in game, amazing.

No date likely means 2019 earliest

morganfell2407d ago

They have been at this game for several years already. Infamous Second Son came out in 2014. Don't think it will be 2019.

notachance2407d ago (Edited 2407d ago )

early 2019 is my bet, they already have GoW, Days Gone, Detroit, Shadow of Colossus and Spiderman confirmed for next year and I'm almost sure they'll empty the release slot anywhere near Red Dead 2, and they usually either empty the release slot on annual October FPS or put some DLC in there, perhaps for GoW/Days Gone.

IMO it's either TLoU 2 holiday 2018 and Ghost early 2019 or TLoU 2 early 2019 and Ghost summer/holiday 2019

oh yeah they still have Death Stranding too don't they?

DarXyde2407d ago

I think August 2018 is possible.

That's just me, though.

KwietStorm_BLM2407d ago

They've been working on it for 3 1/2 years. It wouldn't be surprising if it releases next year.

mkis0072407d ago

next year is looking pretty packed at this point, and thats just with taking exclusives into account.

Chocorocket2407d ago

nah it's been 3.5 years in the making so the game is a 2018 release

2407d ago
UCForce2407d ago

This is in game. And This is Sucker Punch. You should know Sucker Punch reputation.

WaqarYounis82407d ago

Let those tears flow, xbox fanboy.

nix2407d ago (Edited 2407d ago )

i thought by now the country where Waqar is living has been blocked. lol. clearly not. keep the fight alive, Younis.

@shinrock,

even if it's cinematic, the trailer was really impressive. i actually thought it was some demon/ufos/monster saying that monologue but it's chinese. so what it means is that it's going to have a nice story. not everything is about GRAPHIX though it looks amazing already and i'm sure that's in-game.

Every PlayStation Studios game available now on Windows PC

Windows Central writes: "Many PlayStation Studios games that are ported to PC get dedicated PS5 DualSense support, which allows users to experience haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support without actually having to own a PS5.

According to Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, it's still the company's intent to launch the bigger single-player games on PS5 first, before later bringing the games to PC. This might not be the case for multiplayer games however, which are considered okay to launch simultaneously on console and PC."

My guess is after god of war. Probably last of us 2 that's a almost 4 year old game now and by the time it's released on pc it will be more than 4 years old or close to 5.

Every old Playstation game that is now on PC.

Right. I definitely see what a headlined from a website named windows central was trying to do though. It's cute little wordplay to help out the green box

Very very early in development. Still, fantastic news!

Let´s GO!!!

Lightning772d ago

I guess.

How come they didnt either let them go or sell Tango and others to another publisher? Not saying Ubisoft, EA would be any better. (Capcome would of treated them right )

At least it wouldn't be MS of all ppl destroying them.

MS really should let go Tango go like they did TFB here.

darthv722d ago (Edited 2d ago )

one was under Bethesda (Tango) the other under Activision (TFB). Clearly each one handled the separations of their subordinates differently.

Obscure_Observer2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

"How come they didnt either let them go or sell Tango and others to another publisher? Not saying Ubisoft, EA would be any better. (Capcome would of treated them right )"

Perhaps because Zenimax and ABK handles such matters differently based on their own internal policies as "independent" publishers.

Whoever, chances are it´s simply because MS didn´t wanted Tango or Austin to be acquired by competitors and develop new bangers for them, giving MS a bad rep in a possible future. Which could also be the reason why they ensured an exclusive partnership with TFB and its new game, before anyone else.

Sad and disgusting. But it is what it is.

Lightning772d ago (Edited 2d ago )

"Whoever, chances are it´s simply because MS didn´t wanted Tango or Austin to be acquired by competitors and develop new bangers for them, giving MS a bad rep in a possible future."

MS has a bad rep now because those studios are no more. I rather them sell the studio continue to make multiplatform releases, while MS continues to focus on whatever they're doing. If they didn't want Tango around they should separated from them or sell them to, like they did TFB.

It's inexcusable, they have options on how to handle studios they don't want anymore with killing jobs. Not just MS but the rest of the industry also.

Sad and disgusting sure how many will get shut down next year or this year even?

I don't trust MS decisions and motivations at this point. You have to admit they make one dumb move after another.

Obscure_Observer2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

"MS has a bad rep now because those studios are no more. I rather them sell the studio continue to make multiplatform releases, while MS continues to focus on whatever they're doing. If they didn't want Tango around they should separated from them or sell them to, like they did TFB."

Imo, MS separated from TFB because they didn´t had a game associated with Xbox yet, unlike Tango.

"I don't trust MS decisions and motivations at this point. You have to admit they make one dumb move after another."

Fair enough. It was indeed an epic dumb move from them to close Tango.

Still, all to be forgotten, like always have. This is not the first time a big publisher shuts down a beloved and/or successful studio out of nowhere and certainly won´t be the last. Do you remember Lionhead? Do you remember Evolution Studios? Yeah... both were beloved studios and yet, those companies kill those studios in q blink of an eye and got away with it.

anast2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

The studio boss made some money from this transaction. Once the game releases, the studio will get chopped up.

-Foxtrot2d ago

Manages to buy their freedom especially after all the shit Microsoft has been doing with its studios lately

...

Goes right back to them as partners.

Okaaaaaay...

darthv722d ago

Id venture a guess that TFB working directly with MS was a better outcome than working through Activision to get to MS.

VersusDMC2d ago

From the article...

"Toys for Bob spun out as an indie back in February after Microsoft instituted sweeping layoffs that impacted 86 employees, which was more than half of the staff"

I doubt those 86 employees enjoyed the Microsoft experience over Activisions.

Inverno2d ago

MS shuts down studios because of lack of resources and then helps these guys by giving em resources. Also MS is what forced them to buy their freedom in the first place? What kind of logic 😂

Chevalier2d ago

The best thing is that the company that is worth $3 trillion and owns the company instead of Xbox lacks resources. How the hell does a company worth $3 trillion making a measly $70 billion purchase they 'can't' support. Lol

romulus231d 22h ago

Stockholm syndrome, maybe?

BlindMango1d 16h ago

The reason they would need to "partner with Microsoft" is simply to make a game that's part of a franchise that Microsoft owns. Meaning they're probably going to make a new Spyro game - they're still an independent studio, but are making a game in a franchise that Microsoft owns. It's kind of like Remedy partnering with Rockstar to be able to make the Max Payne remakes.

shinoff21831d 16h ago

It was probably the deal to get released from Ms

+ Show (2) more repliesLast reply 1d 16h ago
Sciurus_vulgaris2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Xbox’s gaming division seems to still function as 3 semi-autonomous sub-divisions, Xbox Studios, Bethesda and ABK. The three main sub-divisions can seemingly shut down or build studios and set up partnerships independently. This would explain why Bethesda can recently shutdown studios, while ABK spins off one studio, while building a new one. Plus, Toys for Bob could be spun off by ABK, only to immediately re-partner with Microsoft.

Chevalier2d ago

That's absolutely 💯 BS. Any sane 'autonomous' company would NOT put their games on Gamepass day 1 like COD will lose probably billions.

Also they're all under Xbox game studios so any autonomy is an illusion.

PhillyDonJawn1d 22h ago

No, I'm sure MS can and does step in when they want something done specifically but I'm also sure they let them also work independently

shinoff21831d 16h ago

I highly highly doubt this. Ms controls all. The guys aren't gonna be allowed to just shut something down like that without approval. No way

Elda2d ago

Either a kiddie game or something uninteresting.

Obscure_Observer2d ago

Don´t worry. You won´t be playing it anyway since their next game will possible be a next gen Xbox console game.

Elda2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Don't worry about my comments.

PhillyDonJawn1d 22h ago

Right probably something like astrobot

romulus231d 22h ago

Nah he said "uninteresting", lots of people are interested in Astro Bot.

Elda1d 20h ago

Never Astro Bot. Astro Bot looks better than any exclusive released on XB this entire generation & believe there hasn't been much.
