Dear Nintendo: Bring on the Wii U Ports

2 months later, and I am still loving my Nintendo Switch. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe have contributed to one of my favorite launch windows in memory. Despite their immaculate reception, the point that both games also released on Wii U is valid criticism. However, I find myself singing a different tune - please Nintendo, bring on the Wii U ports!

That would be great, but I think they go VC route with GameCube. Wii U games could be ported without necessarily being remastered, meaning better returns. I'll take anything I can get.

Please no remasters of any game other than Mario Sunshine. Everything else needs to be new.

They are new games to most since the WiiU hardly sold. Nintendo has a huge hit on their hands with Switch and can easily make money re-releasing older titles to now fill gaps between those new games.

Yep, that is exactly what I'm thinking. It really would be a good move for Nintendo to release a port/remaster of good Wii U games between major releases. Pretty easy money for them, and keeps customers playing their Switches.

That's completely understandable. There are however, fantastic Wii U games that deserve another chance on the Switch, which is looking to be a much higher selling console.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be cool to see older games remastered. But the further you go back the more work it is required, a remaster would require all new assests. I'm sure it didn't take Nintendo long to get MK8 running on the switch. like I said before I think they will use virtual console to scratch those itching for more classic games.

I have been waiting for a Eternal Darkness Remaster! Updated gameplay, the gameplay (like walking) is dated, but the game is amazing.

Exactly. Hell....I had no idea Mario Kart 8 was on Wii U. The console was so much of an afterthought in my mind that any port outside of Bayonetta 2 would be new to me.

And the first port should absolutely be Bayonetta 2. That just needs to happen.

Certainly not at launch. It really started with The Last of Us Remastered and the rest was history, but PS4 did not launch with The Last of Us Remastered. For a while, it was cross platform games, multiplatform games, and maybe a handful of exclusives.

I do believe that porting Wii U games, as well as some remasters of Gamecube and Wii games, to the Switch would help the console. My guess is that many 3rd party publishers are still thinking about publishing on the Switch, but won't until it gets a solid install base. Ports and remasters are a relatively quick and inexpensive way to add games to the console's library. Best of all, it can be done by smaller or less experienced studios, which means Nintendo's first and second party studios can continue working on whatever they are working on at the moment.

Nintendo4Lifex the gamepad looked like a really cheap toy. It's portability was also very limited. Those two were reasons enough to ignore it. They might not matter to you but they do to me.

As for the Switch being a barren wasteland, I already have 6 games for it (about to be 7 with Tumbleseed). That's more than enough for me for the first two months.

I bought a Wii U. I even bought the games no one else gave a chance like Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. For some, a console can have great games but if it doesn't have enough appeal to warrant shelling out, why buy it? I bought an Xbox One for six games. SIX. I didn't like one of the games and another two were cancelled (sort of). Now it's petty much there to cover bases.

But I make it very well known that I am the exception, never the rule. A sensible person wouldn't buy a console for six games years before most of them materialize. Even after the fact once they do release and the price comes down on the games and platform (which isn't very common for Nintendo) it's still steep for some, especially if a rival console is just churning out titles that grab you.

I likely wouldn't buy into these remakes since I bought enough games on Wii U, but you can definitely have both new and old. In fact, Switch may need them. Some developers may hesitate to support Switch right away and want to release older games to fund future endeavors. Perfect example, Skyrim.

As someone who skipped the Wii U, I welcome the ports. I would love to play the Smash, Bayonetta, Xenoblade, and Pikmin games.

I never got to play Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, so I'd pick that up day 1 if they release that on Switch.

I was a big fan of New Super Mario Bros U so I would definitely buy that again for Switch as I traded in my Wii U and games late last year.

I could definitely stand for having Super Smash Bros Wii U ported to the Switch (I abhorred Brawl, but Smash 4 was great), among other things like Bayonetta 2, Mario 3D World, etc., would be awesome portable.

I've been saying all along I want Wii U ports. The ports I want the most would he Mario Maker without the dumb restriction because it would be perfect for a handheld, Mario 3D World because that game is amazing, and the very underrated Captain Toad.

Game was literally made with the gamepad in mind. God I couldn't imagine designing a level with controls would take forever and , a day. Game would suck ass with a controller and no touch.
