Dear Nintendo: Bring on the Wii U Ports

2 months later, and I am still loving my Nintendo Switch. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe have contributed to one of my favorite launch windows in memory. Despite their immaculate reception, the point that both games also released on Wii U is valid criticism. However, I find myself singing a different tune - please Nintendo, bring on the Wii U ports!

There should also be more HD remasters of GameCube games as well

thebrettpiper2573d ago

That would be great, but I think they go VC route with GameCube. Wii U games could be ported without necessarily being remastered, meaning better returns. I'll take anything I can get.

mikeslemonade2572d ago

Please no remasters of any game other than Mario Sunshine. Everything else needs to be new.

ninsigma2572d ago

If the HD remaster of wind waker is anything to go by then hell yeah!

Nyxus2573d ago

I'd rather have new games.

They are new games to most since the WiiU hardly sold. Nintendo has a huge hit on their hands with Switch and can easily make money re-releasing older titles to now fill gaps between those new games.

septemberindecember2571d ago

Yep, that is exactly what I'm thinking. It really would be a good move for Nintendo to release a port/remaster of good Wii U games between major releases. Pretty easy money for them, and keeps customers playing their Switches.

Razzer2572d ago

But to most of us Wii U games are new games.

You bought a Nintendo, you're going to play older/ported games

XanderZane2572d ago (Edited 2572d ago )

That's what I'm saying. The last thing I want are ports or remasters of Wii U games that I've already played. I'm not going to rebuy them. Where are Metroid and Mario Galaxy 3?

Sirk7x2571d ago

That's completely understandable. There are however, fantastic Wii U games that deserve another chance on the Switch, which is looking to be a much higher selling console.

mario tennis ultra smash deluxe id get switch for that

EddieNX 2573d ago

They have a bottomless library of games they could remaster, like FallenAngel1984 said, going back to gamecube. They could go further back as well.

Legion212572d ago

Anything that far back wouldn't be a simple port and more likely will end up on virtual console

EddieNX 2572d ago

Imagine a HD remaster of Super Metroid though.

Legion212572d ago

I'm not saying it wouldn't be cool to see older games remastered. But the further you go back the more work it is required, a remaster would require all new assests. I'm sure it didn't take Nintendo long to get MK8 running on the switch. like I said before I think they will use virtual console to scratch those itching for more classic games.

iplay1up22572d ago

I have been waiting for a Eternal Darkness Remaster! Updated gameplay, the gameplay (like walking) is dated, but the game is amazing.

andrewsquall2572d ago

Bring them on because even hardcore Nintendo fans missed out on them the first time when even they refused to buy a Wii U.

EddieNX 2572d ago

Actually the only people who bought Wiiu were hardcore Nintendo fans.

2pacalypsenow2572d ago

I bought one, and i'm far from a Hardcore nintendo fan

Razzer2572d ago

Exactly. Hell....I had no idea Mario Kart 8 was on Wii U. The console was so much of an afterthought in my mind that any port outside of Bayonetta 2 would be new to me.

And the first port should absolutely be Bayonetta 2. That just needs to happen.

Nintendo4Lifex2572d ago

Sounds like you're a poser!

Razzer2572d ago

A poser? lol...why? Cuz I never paid Wii U any mind? Guess what? Eventually there are going to be a hell of a lot more Switch owners like me who never gave Wii U a second thought than there were folks who actually bought the thing.

So it looks like they have abandoned unreal for future iterations of the game and are sticking with ego. So that means no decent VR support on PC and none on console seeing as the ego can't handle it properly. I think I'm done with this franchise it's turned into fifa with a hefty price tag and no innovation from one year to the next. Time for someone else to have a go at this licence
