The kickstand on the Nintendo Switch could break if docked incorrectly

You should always make sure the kickstand is up when you try to dock your Nintendo Switch. A man at a test event shows us why.

I'm sorry, but if you do this you're an idiot. Why would you try to dock the Switch with the kickstand out? That's not a simple mistake, that's carelessness.

This is just like the people who smashed their TVs with Wii motes or PS Moves because they couldn't be bothered to put the straps on.

Maybe you're distracted when showing it off to someone and you are looking at them as you try to dock it? The phone rings? Doorbell? Drunk? Simply in a hurry because you realize you have to be somewhere?

There's plenty of distraction reasons for someone to forget. The thing shouldn't be so flimsy.

Not a huge problem, but they screwed up the design of it for being so flimsy, and this was a problem someone mention a weeks ago. That it looked and felt flimsy. Flimsy is now confirmed.

For an analogy to work, it has to actually be comparable.

Someone jumping out of a moving car is not analogous to being distracted and forgetting to put the stand in place before docking.

That's like saying dropping the remote is the same as playing chicken with cars.

You stop the car before you get out to avoid an accident , just like you tuck the stand in before you dock the Switch. It was a perfect analogy that emphasized the blatent stupidity of this article and anybody that docks the Switch with the stand sticking out.

the switch's kickstand looks small and flimsy, i would have preferred a surface like kickstand that covers the entire surface of the switch providing more stability. I can see repairs needed as people accidentally break or wear the snapping mechanism down on the switch overtime. have to wait and see how durable it is.

Well to be fair, Nintendo itself showcased people in ads cooking on the stove WHILE playing Switch. So, if you plan to use Switch as Nintendo says you should it easily could break.

What's funny though is the tactic you are trying, doesn't negate reality.

The simple fact is, the stand is flimsy, and many people over time are going to break it.

Not a huge deal, but one worth noting. After all, people should have as much info possible to make a correct decision.

Trying to suggest to others that information is not needed, is well, quite ludicrous.

My point is more about applying common sense. Of course things will break or malfunction if you handle them improperly.

And yes, I can see the stand breaking on quite a few people. Careless kids, clumsy adults, unfortunate accidents, etc. However, I will also bet that the majority of these mishaps will be the user's fault.

The vast majority of people that handle the Switch properly will most likely be just fine.

My PS4 broke when I put it in the oven at 400 degrees for 5 hours.
My X1 broke when I tried to game the tub.

Speak for yourself. I threw a piano on my PS4, and the piano broke in two. The PS4 still work, not a scratch.

I also tried to put my PS4 in hydrochloric acid. The PS4 drank it all, the acid screamed in agony.

Interesting, but it's still not good. I've had things on products in years past that 'popped' off. Then you'd attach it and it would be fine.

But then it popped off a 2nd or 3rd time and then suddenly the little plastic part that connected to it would break (i.e. say the circular plastic thing that acted as the hinge). Then those things wouldn't attach anymore.

I can see a similar thing happening here.

its not breaking off its removable & can be put back on easily. >.>
