I knew Quantum Break couldn't have sold well being as its never in the NPD/worldwide charts.

TwoForce2909d ago

I still can't believe why MS hide the US numbers.

Null19802909d ago

They're more likely to give some PR spin, like total amount of hours players have spent time-shifting combined.

2909d ago
freshslicepizza2909d ago (Edited 2909d ago )

why wouldn't they hide the numbers if they aren't that good? does sony provide vita numbers, playstation now subscription numbers? they too hid ps3 numbers last generation because in the us they didn't do as well. that's just the way it is. sony was amalgamating all playstation devices together last geneartion.

200,000 even without counting digital sales is not good. i imagine ms would like to have sold about 2 million copies including windows and xbox one. they have a long ways to go.

Sunny_D2909d ago

Because it's low numbers that MS do not want to show to the public. It's embarrassing as they say.

XisThatKid2909d ago (Edited 2908d ago )

@moldybread
To be honest they post vita numbers especially milestone numbers. But I see your point. Also quarterly numbers get put out too most of the time. I don't know what you talking about in ps3 sales numbers every month was out even in us. Don't spread that. Thats just not true. I'm assuming you heard that from someone else on the net and use it to further a point?

holtzy2908d ago

because the game sold like shit and they dont want the bad press

freshslicepizza2908d ago (Edited 2908d ago )

@XisThatKid

sony did not talk about npd numbers for the ps3, it was during the ps3/xbox 360 era that all of the sudden npd numbers were no longer public and sony used that cloud of mystery to not comment each month on figures. learn your history please.

you guys can disagree all you want but facts are facts

XisThatKid2908d ago (Edited 2908d ago )

I was following sales numbers almost all last gen. PS3 out sold 360 every month save for a handful of times and even in US for a couple month that's how they closed the 9 mil year long head start gap at a higher price point and "no games" I had to inform people of this littlknown fact ash the time all last gen to further extinguish the stigma that PS3 want doing well against the 360
Oh and Don't JUST relayed numbers on Vita aabout a week ago maybe two. Anyway just let you know to make a point by saying anyone "did it first" is a terrible way to make a point.

freshslicepizza2908d ago

@XisThatKid
"Anyway just let you know to make a point by saying anyone "did it first" is a terrible way to make a point"

why are you taking it personal that all companies want to put the best positive spin on things? that's why sony would say they were up year over year but not disclose numbers for ps3 sales in the usa when npd reports came out. and stop being so defensive when i use them as an example of why microsoft is doing the same thing this generation. none of them want to say "well we sold worse than the other guy". this is why microsoft will say stupid things like xbl subs are up, to deflect xbox one sales are not as good as ps4 sales. but you guys disagreeing with every comment i make shows how personal you've made things.

memots2908d ago

it was hailed as a console mover....

TheTwelve2908d ago

Well...now you know why.

XisThatKid2908d ago

Dude (I'm assuming) , it's not personal in a way I'm offended but just trying to help you further make a point it's best to do without trying to put the oppositional point down to create the illusion your point's any more valid.
All I'm saying is that Sony didn't just flat out hide numbers esp all gen and that is what people are going to take from your post. It's just not true. Like I said I understand your point but I just don't want people to be misinformed if I can help it

Thought it was MS's best selling new IP?

If 200k at retail is true then the game must have sold significantly more digitally than it did physically.

http://n4g.com/news/1892497...

Sciurus_vulgaris2909d ago

It had a better launch than Ryse, Ori and Sunset.

PistolsAtDawn2909d ago (Edited 2909d ago )

Well it did sell more digitally than physical...plus bundles. But the title is a bit mis leading..in the SECOND MONTH it has yet to break 200k...not total...just May

With this title I would not be surprised at all if it sold a lot more digitally, esp since it came with the PC version for free.

qwerty6762909d ago

Maybe, we know that ryse sold around 1m.

Soooo factoring that in. QB would be higher then that.

Regardless even if it did sell between 1-2m that's still not that great.

2909d ago
343_Guilty_Spark2909d ago

I'm sure it did as the digital copy can with a free PC copy and Alan Wake.

AndrewLB2909d ago

Correct. It is the best selling new IP Microsoft has ever published according to Aaron Greenburg. It also topped the charts at #1 in the UK for a period of time.
https://twitter.com/aarongr...

butchertroll2909d ago

Don't fall on MS's PR, man!

FITgamer2908d ago (Edited 2908d ago )

It was the best selling, at launch. Meaning it sold more at launch than other Microsoft published titles. Doesn't account for sales after launch.

IamTylerDurden12908d ago

The difference between Sony not revealing VITA numbers and ms hiding QB numbers is that ms came out and said QB was a groundbreaking and spectacular game. They hyped it to the moon. Sony did not do such things.

Moldybread

Sony won last gen even though xbox got a yr headstart. All ms does is front run and then hide when things are bad. They have lost all cred with gamers. Where are the games? What do they have cooking? They over hyped QB, it flopped, then they hid the numbers and acted as if it was a success. Don't u love those tactics?

MachuchalBrotha3162909d ago

How do you know. I remember there being a better deal getting the game digitally which would get you the PC version free. Again, NPD doesnt report digital sales. Get me those numbers before we say it didnt sell well.

Herbalistic2909d ago (Edited 2909d ago )

We could only speak on retail NPD/worldwide figures being as Microsoft would rather release useless xbl stats instead of actual sales data

boing12909d ago

You honestly believe that MS wouldn't brag about QB digital sales if they are good?

jessionpc2909d ago

This was obviously going to happen.

What blows MY mind is HOW did this even sell THAT many?

My god... Xbots...

Ask. For. Better.

WickedLester2908d ago (Edited 2908d ago )

I agree. The game is decent, but it's not great or even very good. Same way I felt about Alan Wake. Remedy is overrated.

Geez, 6 months into 2016 and Xbox has had exactly one big release and it wasn't even all that good. It's a good thing MS has Killer Instinct and Forza. Otherwise their in house IP offerings this gen have flat out sucked. Even Halo 5 disappointed me. Personally I only use mine for Netflix, Killer Instinct, and Forza 6.

AndrewLB2909d ago

Over 93% of PC games are sold digitally and while i dont think it's anywhere near that high on Xbone, i found a forum poll on gamefaqs where about 55% buy most or all of their games digitally, and another 20% buy "some" of their games via digital download.

butchertroll2909d ago (Edited 2909d ago )

Quote :

....

So, you swallowed MS PR. Nice one.

Charts positions mask how bad some games have done. Let me tell you something. 28k at 1st place in launch week in UK is abysmal. It sold worse than The Order and Alan Wake.

You can find data here : http://www.neogaf.com/forum...

LOL! You found some data on gamefaqs. Did you know that biggest games has roughly 30% digital sales at best? You should check EA and Ubisoft data about digital sales.

trooper_2908d ago

The game still didn't sell well.

Try again.

butchertroll2909d ago

Damn! I mean DAMN! Flop of the generation so far. It sold far worse than The Order.

rmw2hot872908d ago

I recommend all Sony fanboys to celebrate this breaking news lol

But the majority of sales on the Xbox one are digital they say -_- smh no wonder Remedy is working on another game with a new partner

Christopher2909d ago

The thing is, I bet that is true. I'm thinking the game had to hit at least 500k in its first month or two. And I'm fairly certain it was heavily digitally driven as it was only an XBO retail disc and was sold digitally with benefits on XBO/PC.

firelogic2909d ago

You think that it sold less than 200k physically but more than 300k digitally? There's no way it matched physical sales digitally, let alone surpassed it.

Christopher2909d ago

@firelogic: yeah, I think it sold extremely well digitally. I'd bet that the mass majority of pre-orders were switched to digital from retail when MS announced that you would get the free games and a free PC copy.

2909d ago
AndrewLB2909d ago

@Firelogic

Xbox one games tend to sell more digital copies than physical. Not as high as PC though, which is around 93% last i heard. Its kind of funny whenever i hear people running their mouths about how terrible PC game sales are because the vast majority of the time they're reporting Retail sales, not digital downloads... and retail sales are only about 7% of what is sold to consumers.

nix2909d ago

This is one of the reasons why new IPs are most of the time doomed to lower sales because no one freaking buys new IPs on Xbox.

The community is still hung up on Halo/Forza/Gears. Xbox community will never get newer IPs if they don't start welcoming them.

Of all Rise Of The Tomb Raider digital sales on PC ( Steam and Windows Store ), 98% of all sales are coming from Steam, 2% are from Windows Store. So, nobody gives a shit about UWP/Windows Store games. And also QB is a strictly a UWP game. So, pure logic, QB sold like shit on Windows Store.

@Christopher

Yeah, i'm sure digital sales for QB was 900%. LOL! I said that QB is a STRICTLY UWP game and NOBODY GIVES A SHIT ABOUT UWP

Christopher2909d ago

Sure, butchertroll, ignore XBO digital sales and the fact that on Pc there was no Steam version. That *must* mean sales were abysmal, though.

n4rc2908d ago

How is it not likely? Digital is only getting more popular as we go and aren't all windows versions digital?

Eonjay2908d ago

Chris, the thing is we don't have any evidence at all to support what you are saying. This doesn't mean that its not possible, but there is simply no proof.

2908d ago
Christopher2908d ago

@Eonjay: We also have no proof that it isn't true. But, regardless, this is why I say things like "I bet" and "I think". I don't at all think it a far-fetched thought that they sold 300k digital copies.

That has nothing to do with anything.

Single A games and live service games. Those make sense

S2Killinit73d ago

None of it makes sense. But its happening.

Ps5conehead73d ago

That’s up to Microsoft they want return on there investment. From buying up those publishers. That’s what there in business for. And they made a mistake putting day one exclusive on game pass. So now Microsoft wants to profit any way they can.its called buisness . Just like Sony putting games on pc a year are two after ps5 launch.
So if they can make money off PlayStation and Nintendo. They will do that. And I bet soon real soon they will release some aaa exclusives .and I bet one day it will be same day release

TheEroica73d ago

Sony gamers begging for Xbox games.... Who would've thunk it?

BISHOP-BRASIL73d ago

Yeah, because random site off the internet represents all Sony gamers, they have the letter of attorney and all...

Friendlygamer73d ago

Some of these seem to be exclusive for lack of enthusiasm of the publisher rather than because of deals. A lot of cool indies skip ps for some reason like katana zero, el paso, elsewhere and gunbrela

S2Killinit73d ago

Even more indies skip xbox. We know that right?

Friendlygamer73d ago

Quality over quantity, Microsoft got some really interesting and curated niche games on their machines, maybe in part because of gamepass

S2Killinit73d ago

Quality and MS are not things you bring up in same sentence.

shinoff218373d ago (Edited 73d ago )

Alot of indies skip xbox to. It goes round and round. Personally I think your off base on that but no need to have the argument.

Friendlygamer73d ago

Between katana zero, valheim, Battletech, el passo... I don't feel off base. maybe ps got a million of light novel games that will never release on Xbox but like I've said, I'm talking about niche games highlights, the 10%.

Heck, it's probably thanks to Microsoft that the s.t.a.l.k.e.r games came to console ps included, meanwhile Sony backwards compatibility continues to be extremely anemic.

And I'm sure most ps5 users are happy to ignore these games and just play wathever new 3rd person action game is trending but it's cool that Microsoft gives some love to smaller audiences and software preservation

shinoff218373d ago

Again your off base just to be snide. All it's showing though is your ignorance.

One light novels wtf is that even. Ps has plenty of pretty damn good indies.

Speaking of indies and ms being responsible. You know F.I.S.T. of course you do alot of you guys just support gamepass. Well here's a history of Sony being responsible for helping indies. Look up the China project from Sony.

Lastly lol your ignorance showing again. Sony has plenty of games. Personally third person is better then first anyway but that's besides the point. Sony gets so many games that xbox doesn't get because yall don't support the games. Jrpgs being a great example. I personally am not into every Sony first party game. Alot of us aren't. On the other side you don't get to eat often so you gobble up everything. Me personally God of War not my cup, etc. For me I'm into jrpgs and ms just can't touch Sony on those. Again because the Xbox base doesn't support it. Devs dont wanna waste their time or money. Hit me up when falcom develops a game over there.

Speaking of third person narrative games. Aren't yall drooling over hellblade 2. The first one was Sony exclusive at one point. Another not my cup game. Showing we don't have to fall in line and agree we love everything Sony puts out. The facts are they sell though unlike elsewhere(not nintendo)

StormSnooper72d ago

You are same person as GamerRN, yes?

Abnor_Mal73d ago

They really think PlayStation fans would want to play Redfall? Pfft.

Personally nothing on that list would be any game I’d want to play.

TwoPicklesGood73d ago

I’d absolutely love Hellblade 2, Palworld, and Quantum Break on ps5 as I’m sure tons of others would too. There’s nothing wrong with wanting games from another console and its sad that people try to act like they aren’t interested in them.

shinoff218373d ago

While indont agree with the games. I agree with the point. Your not wrong.

DarXyde73d ago

Sunset Overdrive makes very good sense. Palworld might.

Don't know about the others. Hellblade II does make sense given the original launched on PS4 first. Quantum Break was a massive letdown for me. I absolutely hated the whole TV show thing and I don't think anyone should have to relive that on modern hardware.

Now that Remedy owns Control, it’s time to reclaim Quantum Break

Alan Wake 2 studio Remedy Entertainment has reclaimed the rights to Control, and now sci-fi hit Quantum Break deserves the same treatment.

Totally agree with that especially when Quantum Break has several references to Alan Wake and Alan Wake make allusions to QB.
I do believe that MS and Remedy can work things out and MS has usually been nice to devs and publishers regarding IP.

Obscure_Observer89d ago

They can't "reclaim" what was never theirs.

Petebloodyonion89d ago

I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP.

Lightning7789d ago

MS is not doin anything with it. Plus they're doing a multiverse of their own so Remedy needs the IP.

If MS wants to have exclusive let it be timed for 6 months then go to other platforms. MS seems to be, let's say, generous with some if their games as of late.

Or have QB2 be multiplat from the jump, put it on GP. Keeping QB2 as an exclusive is kinda weird these days.

Obscure_Observer89d ago (Edited 89d ago )

@Petebloodyonion

"I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP."

Good luck

@Lightning77

"MS is not doin anything with it."

Japan Studio is dead nd Sony isn´t doing anything with Bloodborne either! Yet I can 100% guarantee that there´s a far bigger demand for a sequel, remake or even a remaster for that game from both PS5 and PC gamers.

That been said, why don´t you ask Sony tol sell the IP to Fromsoftware now that according to rumors, they bought Elden Ring from Bandai?

ZwVw89d ago (Edited 89d ago )

Reclaim? That would mean that they actually owned the ip at one point, which they never did (MS always has). Apples & oranges. Remedy always owned the Control ip (just not the publishing), as they have with Alan Wake.

About as likely as them getting the Max Payne rights from Rockstar.

mastershredder89d ago (Edited 89d ago )

Sending you game to a publisher does not mean they get "rights to own it " unless that was part of the contract (monetary/ strategic reasons). 505 was the publisher they worked with to publish and distribute it, it dos not mean that 505 flat out "owned" anything, clearly they did have a special arrangement that made them open to limit their publishing rights. and so here we are and big whoop

Jingsing89d ago (Edited 89d ago )

Yeah get Quantum Break PS5, only if you put it on disc with all the associated movie material.

isarai89d ago

I mean they got the Alan Wake IP back from MS, so I feel like they could get QB back as well

Thumper
Inscryption
Q.U.B.E. 2

I think Inscryption is the best game on that list. PT and Returnal i would offer. Returnal deserves a spot over some of the listed games. Especially after chapter 3. Maybe even Alice MR? Death Stranding? Kojima all together. To much smaller degree Dead Space. I'm spitballing.

I didn't play Thumper enough to see beyond the visual spectacle. Curious choice.

SullysCigar385d ago (Edited 385d ago )

I'd add FEAR and RE7 (when Ethan starts getting visions, especially in the boat) to that list.
