If this game is written on a piece of paper in black and white inkt that is PS3 exclusive, than sane people would call that a "contract". If it is contract bound, than it would never come. At vega75, the cut-scene's can't be cut away, because they are in-game, it uses in-game assets. So cut-scene's themselves dont take up alot of space on the disc.

Personally I didnt think MGS4 looked all that great it look nice and all but it wasnt ground breaking graphics or anything. As far as playing the game it boring as hell I actually sold it after 2 day cause trying the "play" the game felt more like a chore then something I was doing to have fun. I think I "played" about 5 hours of the game and out of that 5 hour like one hour was actual gameplay. To me that made the game god awful

XIII is built on Crystal tool, a multiplatform engine, it will take no time port it to 360. However, MGS4 is specifically wrote for Cell and RSX capabilities. In other words, you'd have to completely rewrite the game engine for this.

Saw a 360 controller in the flashback with psycho mantis when i played the game. Don't know why it was there but it read rumble is back and flashed a 360 controller. Now all that said, MGS4 should stay on the PS3 the experience has come and gone. It was fine ,but lets leave it where it is and move on to other games.

If u listen to the Square Enix conference they said that they will make both game identical, so meaning they might downgrade the graphics and sound so it can run on 360 do to the maximum capacity of the 360's DvD.(No one want more than 3 multiple dics). Also the trailer they showed was pre-render footage i believe and seen killzone 2 showed pre-render footage before and now look pretty dang close, there a chance that FF13 would look like the trailer they showed if they were making a 360 version. Maybe Japan's version might but superior to other version since it the only version coming out for japan.

Final Fantasy games are one of the game franchises in gaming history. There is a reason why they're on #13, plus all of the growing spinoffs.

FFV13 won't be any different on any other console. It won't be downgraded. They simply said they would be releasing it in Japan first (like they always do). All of the hard work is already done. The graphics; the story line; the finishing touches. It has already been said that converting a PS3 game to a 360 game is easier then vice versa.

I noticed there are lots of crying about swapping discs. Who cares if you spend a total of 2 minutes over an 80+ hour game swapping a disc. Plus with the fall update you have the option to copy the discs to the HDD if your that damn lazy. Problem solved.

And the 360 uses dual layer DVD's which CAN hold up to 8.5gb of data. Since no game uses the entire 50gb of BR storage, you can have it on several discs. Lost Odyssey is 4 discs and it is on par with any other final fantasy type game. I'm sure 4-5 DVD discs are cheaper then 1 blueray disc.

You are not a very intelligent human being. MANY final fantasies have been on multiple discs, so no, they aren't going to be "downgrading." The trailer also featured some real-time footage, which was apparently so good you couldn't tell it wasn't pre-rendered. Japan's version might be superior? I'm not going to comment on that.

Well they are releasing bioshock for the ps3 a year after the game was on the 360 and the pc and they are releasing overlord for the ps3 like 2 year after it was on the 360. Well I doubt these games are going to sell any ps3 they obvious do sell or dev would not keep doing this so there no reason to think that msg4 wouldnt sell well on the 360 a year or more after it was on the ps3.

I think it was at the 06 maybe the 07 e3 (the one right before peter moore left ms) when sony and ms were both ask about mgs4 going to the 360 both replied that it was up to Konami. Sony of course pointed out that it be on the exclusively on the ps3 1st.

both Hideo Kojima and that Ryan Patan guy said its only possible on the PS3, they created it to take advantage of the PS3 capabilities, they've programmed it for a cell possessor, even Kojima said that the 50 GB blu-ray wasn't enough for what he wanted.

Think about it logically FF13 hasn't been in production for that long, they said once they finsih the Japanese PS3 version and start localisation then they'll port it to the 360.

But for Kojima to go back and think of a way to compress his work (which I don't think he would do knowing him the perfectionist) and cutting crap and cutting code that the PS3's extra SPU's supported IS NOT Kojima at ALL. Everyone knows what Kojima's like, if he's going to make for the 360 it will be a totally new game he's not going to go back now.

you only get about 6.4GB from a DVD9 althou it says 8.4GB. unless i am wrong about one thing. for 360 i remember reading from a developer site saying that you cant use full 6.4GB for 360 either. only about 6GB are accessible to game data while the rest goes to some system file for the media protection or something. what ever it is be it porting or not i couldnt care more about it. one thing i know for sure. if i were given a choice to require to swap disc just to play game and no need to swap disc when playing a game. i definitely go with no swapping option. swapping disc is such an old technology. at least thats what i feel. its 2008 now... i aint living in 1998 where i need to keep swapping disc just to play a freaking game.

you can have all your time to swap disc and have longer load time. like i have said swapping is something of the past. example, most movies on DVD you just need to insert the disc and you watch the entire movie. while in the past when you watch LD/VCD, you need to take the disc out half way through and swap side/disc. so i guess you prefer to watch LD/VCD over DVD. i can live with install for better load time and just play without having to remove and insert disc every time the story changes or moving into the next act or what so ever. games with mandatory install usually only require that to be done once. its definitely better than having the need to swap disc every time you play. not to mention the additional load times and time you spend swapping after accumulating them, they surely end up more than the time you need to spend on your first install. maybe HDD space for 360 owner is an issue. but its not really an issue for PS3 owners since HDD are cheap for PS3 as compared to 360. you may feel worried if 360 is to have mandatory install since their HDD is expensive. but swapping HDD on PS3 is cheap and easy. I have 250GB HDD installed in my PS3. I still have over 170GB space despite that I have more than 15 games and a lot of junks like game demo, mp3s, videos and etcs inside the PS3 HDD. i take install over swapping anytime. at least thats how i look at it. given that i have both PS3 and 360, if FF13 on 360 gonna have multi disc, its no thanks for me I would rather go with the PS3 version.

VCD vs DVD is different. Movies are fluid and having to stop to swap a VCD disc sucks.

The difference is movies are meant to be watched in 1 sitting. Games aren't. Games have various ups and downs where simply swapping a disc isn't problematic. Plus there is the ability to copy the game disc to the HDD to avoid disc swapping if your that lazy.

Lost Odyssey is 4 discs. Typically once I finish a disc I end for the day anyway and next time I start with a new disc. Not that complicated. You have to put some sort of disc in the drive, whats the difference if its labeled "Disc 1" vs "Disc 2"?

well... i didnt say anything about complicated. its just additional trouble which is avoidable. also not all games are like what you describe which playing disc 1 its going to take awhile before you need to insert disc 2 to proceed further. your comment obviously also show that you didnt play MGS4 as well. Talk about Lost Odyssey, imagine the same game if done on PS3 is probably just 1 disc solution and probably + a mandatory install. A game with this much disc required is quite a fair deal if i use it as an example. Lets assume MGS4 also require 4 disc if its being compress into multi DVDs. This is one game that a good player is capable of finishing it within 5-6 hrs. So if I want to play the game straight for 5hrs assuming I would like to complete it in 1 go. meaning i have to swap at least 3 times within the 5hrs. not to mention its probably gonna load longer during cut scenes and area/act change (unless you are telling me DVD load faster than HDD). fyi there is almost no load time even if there's one its a really quick one which only take few secs in MGS4 in every transition except for act change. if you look at this scenario, what difference does it make to watching a long movie on VCD while you have to swap a couple of time to finish off the movie? also when talk about installing the game into HDD then no need swap as an option. i think thats a big slap in the face to those fanboys out there who always claim how PS3 sux because they need to install their games to play. more over i already made it really clear. all PS3 has build in HDD which installing is not an issue. if you run out of space, upgrade to a larger drive which is easy and definitely cost a lot less than 360's HDD. so assuming if i didnt want swap on my 360 now M$ give me an option to install them and play off HDD. thats as good as asking me to pay them more $$$. i am sorry then end of the day i probably gonna pay more than i need to pay for a PS3 to play games. not to forget i need to pay for my XBL membership just to play online.

Im not gonna say its impossible because i was not expecting FF13 to go. MGS4 is a bit different in respects to why it can't go to Xbox 360:

-Sony is making the Metal Gear Solid movie. Unless Sony agrees, they won't take kindly to MGS4 going to 360
-Advertising, such as Apple laptops, Apple ipod, PS3's, PSP's
-Voice acting talking about the benefits of blu-ray and dissing multiple discs
-Messages on loading screens saying its exclusive to the ps3
-Controlling the Mk.II with a PS3 controller
-Uses 50gb bluray disc

These are all things that contribute to the game staying ps3 exclusive. And lets not forget alot of 360 owners will not have a clue what the story is about

*it would allow the 360 to get another one of the two best games of this generation:Bioshock and Mass Effect
*other sites will drop the bias against MGS4 and maybe give it the 10 out of 10s it deserved.

*Fanbase for MGS4 would increase and allow more metal gear games to be created.

You forget the biggest reason. Kojima actually has the power to say no, and he says no. When Studios were vying for the rights to make the Metal Gear movie, they had to negotiate with Kojima, not Konami. He says it is not possible to put it on the 360 without drastically compromising his vision and he says no.

Besides it doesn't have to go to the 360. MGS4 has buried Mass Effect in sales in a month. Did Mass Effect go to the PS3? No.

Konami would lose lots of money if that metal gear movie deal was crushed, wish it would be if they ever ported MGS4 to the 360. Plus theirs not enough disk space on just one dvd 9 to even use mgs4. MGS4 going to the 360 seems to be the great mystery in gaming today. I would love for it to happen, just as many of you would like to see it stay an exclusive. This is one of those "I'll believe it when I see it" issues. As long as the game is somewhat hot, the rumors will persist. Only when MGS4 has been "yesterday's news" for a while will the rumors die down.

Kojima saying it won't happen makes me believe...that it won't happen. However, stranger things have happened. DMC4, Resident Evil 5, GTA4, FFXIII - these are all huge titles that were once PlayStation staples. Plus, along with MS's money and the reason FF went multiplatform...its install base, anything can happen. The fact that 360 fans tend to buy more games than their PS3 counterparts looks attractive to game makers.

If MGS4 is a timed exclusive, then it's likely that it's way too soon for MS to legally make an announcement. The game has only been out for a month on PS3.

If MGS4 went to the 360, Sony will still make the movie if they think they can make a buck, trust me. They're not going to throw away millions of dollars because a game that's the last in its series went to a rival console months after the release on the PS3. That logic doesn't make sense.

the biggest issue is the simple fact that Kojima more or less confirmed that the 360 was incapable of creating MGS4 with the quality he demanded for himself, and his development company...

Everybody knew FFXIII technically had the chance of going multiplatform. The game was developed on a multiplatform engine. The only reason people thought it would be exclusive was because Square said so 2 years ago, and because none of the real FF's have ever been released on an Xbox console before.

But MGS4 is a different story. It was never built on a multiplatform engine. Kojima Productions built the engine solely for PS3. It would take years to port the engine to 360 and re-write the whole game. Not only that, Kojima is a perfectionist, he doesn't want to compress audio and visual qualities. Not only that, he's tired of MGS. He wants to move on to new games.

And Sony had about as much influence on MGS4 as Apple does... no influence. The mentioning about PS3, BluRay, Cell, Regain, iPod, etc was all due to Kojima and his team. Nobody asked Kojima Productions to promote their products.

By the way, months ago, Konami wanted MGS4 to go multiplatform for more profit but Kojima declined it. Kojima has said multiple times that MGS4 will remain a PS3 exclusive, and should MGS4 fail... they will simply not make any more high budget games.

I don't believe the 360 can't run MGS4. I'm very curious to know the true tech-specs in terms of how much disc space was used. I love MGS4, but if this is utilizing all 50-ott gigs of a blueray, then that's not nearly as impressive as say....GTAIV - a game with astounding breadth and scope that all fits on a "measly" DVD.

Unlike FF13 MGS4's cutscenes are in engine. The FMV cannot be commpressed. Kojima mentioned that he had to CUT CONTENT to fit it into the Bluray. So it is only possible on atleast 5 DVD9(5*9 equals 45, mgs4 is 50+ GB). Any it hasnt sold badly either (3million worldwideand still counting)

While I don't think that MGS4 is coming to the 360, I do think its possible that another MGS game may make it to the 360.

Would I like MGS to stay exclusive to the PS3? Sure, but let's be realistic here. By definition companies are "for profit". There are roughly 19million 360 owners out there and from a business perspective it makes total sense to make a game for the largest market segments.

That being said, I am sure Kojima may not want to mod the MGS4 engine to work on the 360, but again, that doesn't mean another team at Konami won't make a multiplat engine and release future MGS games (if there are any..and I assume there will be in some form) for the 360.

Keep in mind that while the operating systems for the PS3 and 360 are different, the core primary CPUs are very similar. No, I am not saying the Cell and the 360 CPU are identical, BUT, the primary CPU in the Cell and the 360 are pretty darn close. There are differences such as the Cell's SPEs and the 360's tripple cores. The CPU in all the current gen all have IBM's hand in the design processes and if I recall are loosely based on the IBM Power series of processors. That means that the CPU instruction sets are pretty much identical. How they handle threading and subprocesses is whats different.

The issue of memory has been brought up time and time again...well, its really how you manage it. The 360 has a shared memory system which perhaps gives developers a bit more flexibility over the PS3's dedicated and split memory architecture. You still have to juggle it. Just because the 360 has access to 512Mb of RAM doesn't mean its all there for processing. Its also used by the GPU, so you still have to juggle. The PS3's segmented memory just means that you have to do more initial planning because you just can't "steal" memory from the video card. (yeah, I know there are techniques, but from what I've read there are costs for doing so on the PS3)

Sure Konami could compress the data on a couple of DVD9 discs, but then you have to DECOMPRESS it which uses CPU cycles, people forget about that a lot.

Anyhoo, could MGS4 be done on the 360? Probably, with a massive rewrite. Is it likely we'll see MGS4 as it is on the PS3? Probably not.

If I had to guess, I would say that we would see a future incarnation of MGS on the 360.

Again, what does this matter? I mean if we are all gamers we should just enjoy the games.

My opinion is that the only exclusives should be first party exclusives.

Companies like Square-Enix, Konami, Capcom, etc, need to make a profit to survive. They need a good ROI for development. So I say, (albeit with a saddened heart) let them make multiplat games.

Historically, Final Fantasy has always had more content than a MGS game, so if Final Fantasy XIII is on its way to the 360 (which you guys swore up and down it wasnt possible to port to the 360 and were sorely wrong) what makes you think that MGS4 would be even close to a problem to port. Ok before I start giving you my opinion I want to tell you that I have both a 360 and a PS3. I saw FFXIII going multiplatform a while back because the square enix guys said they were not happy with sonys console, but Hideo Kojima praised the PS3. Kojima himself said 50gigs was not enough for that game and then some. He also said he has to start thinking about MGS5 as well and he will not go back to MGS4. And when your talking about money, the game has already sold 3 million world wide with a million on just the first day so they have already profited on the game. Kojima and Sony have both stated for about the millionth time that its only possible on PS3 and no other console could handle it. And about the graphics, dont say it looks better than RE5 when MGS4 graphic style changes each chapter. The game also has way more on screen things going on than RE5 and unlike RE5 all the textures on MGS4 are high rez. If you have the game when a cutscene appears zoom in and try to find a low rez texture I challenge you, you will find none. The only way RE5 could go on 360 was to have some low rez textures and they exist. Oh btw if you wanna see MGS4 visuals at its best play the last chapter

Look up all of the postings that said the same thing about FFXIII.......right before that game was announced for the 360, even though I, as well as other industry insiders gave you all the hints and stories about FFXIII coming over to the 360 well ahead of E3's announcement. And as much as people think Sony didnt know this was going to happen, it wasnt a matter of Sony not knowing this was going to happen, but a matter of when, because Sony themselves were quoted as being unsure about FFXIII exclusivity. Now, trust me, I love MGS4, it is totally mindbending, and I for one love being rewarded by cutscenes, especially a nice long one for the ending, but let's be honest, I knew immediately the difference in visual quality when Sony made the ole switcheroo with the tech demo trailers of MGS4 with the actual PS3 system generated trailers........look them up and compare. You will be lying to yourself if you say that PS3 MGS4 graphics came close to what we seen in E305. In fact, Killzone 2 PS3 generated graphics came alot closer to the tech demo trailers we seen from E305, and even they still don't match what we seen. But to me, MGS4 is an experience that transcends graphics, as the story as well as the jam packed disc full of extras is worth snatching this title up, and "when" 360 fans get their chance to experience it, they should be equally impressed by it. But don't get it twisted, these are corporation whose only goal in life is to make money, and even more money. Now some will counter that statement by asking if that were true, then why didnt 3rd party developers go cross platform more on the last generation, and that answer is simple, ps2 had plenty consoles sold and xbox was new and untested, but now the landscape has changed, and this console generation will not have a clear winner in terms of consoles sold, so developers will go cross platform, deal with it! You fanboys are letting FFXIII get to your head. But know this: Not everybody in the world sells out. There are still decent people around who honor tradition and their word more than profits (basically the conceptual opposite of Microsoft). And if the game came out on 360, it would be regarded as another tactical shooter and would have nowhere near the impact and meaning the game was meant to have. A lot of the story elements and nostalgic references trace all the way back to MGS1, and the final boss battle transitions stylistically through all of the MGS games. Seeing as how the only MGS game ever brought to xbox was MGS2, I'd say Kojima's subtle genius would be lost on most of the 360 fanbase.

Anyway, the black packaging and the rampant PS3 and Apple product placement should be clear indicators that the game won't be ported to 360. If you can't put the pieces together and figure that out, you've got a lot more to worry about than video games.

While I loved playing MGS4 on my PS3, one of the best games the PS3 has but come on MGS4 does not have the best graphics I've ever seen but its great for its time, as for the storyline I liked it but I wouldn't say its that great I think there are times when the story is confused with itself and isn't executed as well as it should of been, nonetheless its still a great game and is worth the £40 you will spend on it.

If it does come to the Xbox 360 than so be it, I've enjoyed it and I hope that others enjoy it, plus some people just can't afford to buy a 360 and PS3.

I'll tell you why this is never going to happen - the production costs would eat the hell out of the profits.

MGS4 = 50gb

DVD9 = 7.5gb

It would take, at the minimum, 8 discs, keeping in mind you need the game engine on each disc, which will take up even more space, unlike a blu ray where you can contain that all on one disc.

If 360 were to actually get MGS4, it would be a cut down version. Not to mention MS just stated they have no clue about MGS4, they told reporters "go ask Konami."

I can't believe all the comment on this thread saying that MGS4 has the best graphics ever. The character models and faces ARE the best I've ever seen, by far. But the graphics in the rest of the game are not the best ever at all. Uncharted's graphics are a lot better (except for the faces and character models, see above). Look at the environment and backgrounds and textures in Uncharted. They blow MGS4 away. (Actually most next-gen games have better textures.) I have both PS3 & 360 - and love them both, i do like that you have exclusives sometimes but i think in future ALL games will be cross platform... well here is hoping it would save me a fortune.
