What the F**k is with the Fallout 3 E3 Trailer?

As a longtime Fallout fan, the possibilities of Fallout 3 have me quite excited. When I saw the first teaser for the game, I got goose bumps. Now Bethesda unleashes this "new" trailer over a year later, and it is almost the same trailer all over again!

Has it occurred to anyone that they may want to create a series of trailers and teasers that are thematically similar. So what if it's done in the same way, it's better than have two completely different styles which can lead to a idea conflict in the viewer.

It's a method of instilling an idea that they want you to associate the game with.

It's a teaser, as anyone could easily tell by taking a quick glance at the title of the video. More specifically, it's a pre-E3 '08 teaser, probably meant to whet your appetite for the REAL trailer, along with a bombardment of bona fide gameplay footage, when E3 finally hits.

For "Fallout fans," some people really don't seem to remember much from them. Remember the Fallout 1 opening? TV set, camera moving away?

Bethesda, in making these trailers, are trying to set the same tone of the previous, non-Bethesda games, and incorporate them into their trailers, so people to relate Fallout 3 to the past games, despite being created by different people.

It's a Fallout meme. They are just continuing it.

This trailer and the other one in the school bus match the style of the old games intro movies and CG footage perfectly.

I liked both trailers and can appreciate the intrigue of them both. Also, this guy is losing interest in a game because the trailers aren't creative enough. Well, Mario Galaxy trailers and Halo trailers aren't either. Hell, look at 98% of the ps3 trailers out there. They're all garbage, but does it mean the system is?

WTF are they talking about? GT did say that they only got TEASER and the actual TRAILER will be shown at E3.
Also, last year's teaser was made by in-game engine material but this time, this is the actual gameplay graphics. Nice draw distance I might add.

Well, going by the complete lack of jaggies, as well as the extraordinarily high polygon count on certain objects, I would venture to guess that it's a pre-rendered video using mostly in-game assets. The character and most of the landscape you see, for instance, is probably real-time assets from the actual game, but this particular video is prerendered for the purpose of enhancing certain aspects of the visuals.

i havent spotted one highpolygonal object in the scene that wouldnt be able to be realtime, and i get the feeling most of you are forgetting this is a pc game too, and on my pc the game will look even better in 1920x1200 with 8xAA + run that smooth.

I don't dispute that the jaggy-less visuals aren't impossible on a PC if you really crank up the resolution, but taking a look at the remarkably high-polygon count of the TV's mesh, as well as the extremely high resolution of the FMV texture on the TV, I wouldn't hold my breath on any version of the game looking like this.

I know it may seem too high poly but come on, can't a PC game look this good? When PC can have Crysis, I'm pretty sure these aren't too high for graphics.

Crysis looks good, but polygon mesh detail isn't one of its strong areas, let alone CGI-level poly counts. Then again, neither is CGI-quality texture maps. Some people have analyzed the polygon counts of the in-game character and object meshes of Crysis, and the numbers came out to be pretty pedestrian. Uncharted and Lair beat it in this facet.

The 360 version is the biggest piece of dog sh!t ever. The load times are so poor. It took me 2 min to load my save file on the 360 version. The ps3 version looks far superior numb nuts. I guess the guy that wrote the article doesn't understand how games are made or their subtle details. The first video was a movie that was what Bethesda hoped to accomplish graphically. This new video is in game footage and them showing off the draw distance, the amount of stuff in the environments & the audio (how it faded moving away from the TV, echoed and then picked up when you were closer to the character's pip boy which acts as a radio). I don't really think he's a "longtime Fallout fan" like he claims.

the rebels (the guy in this trailer and im just guessing they are rebels) and the "robots" or what ever they are (in the previous trailer)

Uh...hmm. Okay, the "rebel" is your character and he/she won't necessarily look like that. The "robots" are most likely the Brotherhood of Steel/Enclave/someone else who has access to powered armor. There's definitely more than two sides. You should really play Fallout 1 and 2 man, they're two of the best games ever made.
