Other handhelds ought to start quaking in their boots right about now.

Unlock your phone and make it work first, then brag about it. Fail.
DS and PSP= Games. Iphone=Wannabe. I hope there are no Apple fanboys on this site or else I will be completely destroyed.

And no,that is not worrying.Someone hasn't played Crisis Core or Chains of Olympus it seems.

mboojigga5805d ago

Then why bother giving it your time to even comment if you have nothing to worry about?

UnSelf5805d ago

So.....to....run i slide my finger across the screen....right.

JVIDICAN5805d ago

i honestly dont see the need to be worried, especially this far into the ds's and psps lifecycle
its above 30,000,000 psp's sold and under 2,000,000 iphones sold
the ds eclipses both of them in sales. so its not like dev supports all the sudden going to switch to the iphone ;)

shazam5805d ago

this looks like an average psp game. his shadow is just a dark circle under him. gow:coo has actual shadows of the characters, more polygons, and better textures. also this doesn't look very fun.

morganfell5805d ago

Let's see if I understand this. Basically to play games I have to sign a contract with a monthly bill? I already have AT&T as my provider (the carrier with the Iphone) but that just isn't worth it to me.

Sorry. Iphone as a gaming device? Sounds great but try to get devs to commit to making games with such a small target audience. Fail.

NDN_Shadow5805d ago

This looks a little better than a N64 game. The shadow's a circle, the character model is blocky, and the color palette looks bland. It animates well, I'll give it that, but this game has nothing on Chains of Olympus.

The iPhone is an all in one device. The internet, a phone, and an iPod in your pocket. It was never trying to beat the PSP or the DS. But, thanks to a new software that released today, the iPhone is hands down the best handheld gaming platform available. The accelerometer makes is extremely useful in games to just tilt the iPhone to have the response in game to act accordingly. In the game moto racer, you use the iPhone as a steering wheel, and it works pretty darn well. Not to mention its 3.5" wide glass touch screen which lets developers innovate even more.

Apple tried making the best iPod, Phone, and Internet communicator in your pocket. They succeeded, and thanks to talented developers, they're making the best handheld gaming platform as well. iPhone is my "hub" to the Internet(Mobile Safari FTMFW!!), it's my iPod, it's my Phone, and its my PDA + games device with all the f^cking cool apps available on the App Store today.

mistertwoturbo5805d ago

It looks great. But there's no HDR lighting to be found. There's not even real-time shadowing on the characters.

It has some pretty good animations though. I dig it.

Leathersoup5805d ago

Well if you compare the cost of an iPhone or iPod touch to the cost of a PSP. The PSP still wins out. Not only that but even with the video being so blurry I was still able to see some pretty low polygon count on the big dude there.
If Sony puts a bit more effort into getting good titles on the PSP it'll win over the iPhone.

Montrealien5805d ago (Edited 5805d ago )

Queefy just proved what he knows about games. Go back to trolling Xbox news stories.

on topic: looks neet, but the PSP aint shaking in its booties with that demo, that`s for damn sure.

this looked a lot more interesting if you ask me...

Reading through som of his comments, it's pretty obvious he's less interested in gaming than trying to bring attention to himself.

wth, the game looks like some old DC games. Chains of Olympus blows it away.

TheExecutive5805d ago

ABSOLUTELY destroys this game. Its a cool looking game for A PHONE but it looks no where near as good as God of War.

I cant believe both the idiots on this site and the people who write these articles. Do you people not have eyes or havent you seen footage of CoO?

highps35805d ago

Not to mention whats the control scheme like?

Armyless5805d ago (Edited 5805d ago )

You can't compare a 2.5-D side scroller with CoO...

However, since the PSP isn't a phone, this is a slightly charming distraction for the casual masses who would never carry a PSP.

Aclay5805d ago (Edited 5805d ago )

Was that supposed to be something like God of War or something? God of War Chains of Olympus owns this game. And how in the world could you play a game like this on a Iphone with a touch screen and no buttons, directional pad or analog stick?

To run I guess you could run your finger across the screen but what about attacking? Would you tap the screen? Anyways, I don't see how a game like this could be pulled off right without a directional pad and buttons.

if they make their mobile games playable on ps5 and their maybe new handheld, that would be huge. cause i aint playing any free games on my phone, cause mobile games suck. haha.

Retro198610d ago

I like mobile games, but the problem for me is that «free games» usually has alot of p2w or other microtransaction connected to them. LoL, Hearthstone, civ, fm etc is great on iPad 😊 Would love to see rise of kingdoms etc Get rid of p2w formula.

Guitardr8510d ago

Does anyone remember PS MInis from the PS3 era? I feel like most of those were mobile games that were ported...No reason they couldn't do that again I suppose. :)

gold_drake9d ago

yeeeess i had some of them haha

P_Bomb9d ago

Ha, I remember those! They didn’t have trophies so I’ve lost track of most of them, but I remember Hysteria Project and Angry Birds.

piher9d ago

I feel like people don't understand what mobile gaming is anymore.

It's not the button phone cheap Tetris clones or movie licensed stuff anymore.

Mobile gaming is huge games like Genshin Impact Honkai: Star Rail, Wuthering Waves, Amazon and Bandai/Namco's Blue Protocol games with budgets that rival and even exceed AAA, but even things like CoD and other big western games have mobile versions.

All the games listed also have PC and console versions.

Sony already owns several big mobile games most famously Fate/Grand Order.

gold_drake9d ago

i feel like you are overblowing what other ppl have said ha.

most mobiles are still very much your gatcha style of gaming.

the games u listed, absolutely, but that wasnt even my comment. mobile games, if they are not on anything else, sucks. so to have them on a handheld with buttons or on a console to, would be a win for me

Philaroni10d ago

I'm going to say this and ether A: I'm crazy or B: I'm crazy, but do any of you remember when Sony years back had the Xperia Play. Touched one never got it myself. If Sony is looking for a handheld (Look at Apple with the games it can run on there own devices) I wonder if maybe, just maybe they try to make a play for the Phone space again. Just my 2 cents, well with inflations I guess my 2 dimes.

Kurisu10d ago

Make an Xperia Play 2 that actually has functionality with the PS5 and I might bite! Loved the Xperia Play, showing off Crash Bandicoot on it was great but that's the only game I had for it.
