No PS3 trophies for Call of Duty 4

For some reason I like both for their own merits. However, I did like the easy access to the controls on the consoles. There's so many buttons that CoD4 uses on the PC, I tend to fumble and press the wrong button in the heat of the moment.

But activision and microsoft have been doing alot of planning together lately. Im sure that infinity ward doesnt have anything against sony, but its all just business. i didn't play cod4 on ps3/360 (pc is for winners) but i do think they're lazy. did you even read some of the comments on this? they have just released a MAP PACK for cod4 on ps3 some time ago which u had to pay (dual shock 3 was out by that time). i mean if they had dropped the game completely i would understand (i'm not waiting for trophies and rumble support in those early ps3 games that weren't big hitters) but coming out and telling ppl a bunch of crap like that, it's pretty obvious a lot of ppl are gonna be pissed.

The new 007 game is being developed by Treyarch, but, because Treyarch is using the call of duty 4 engine for both CoD 5 and the James Bond game, they may need help from Infinity Ward, but I'd doubt it would take the entire Tech Group from IW to work on modifying the engines to fit the James Bond game's 3d takedown sequences.

COD 4 looks poor? I DO play a lot of FPS and as far as consoles go, it's the best looking one out. It DEFINITELY looks/is animated better than Battlefield: Bad Company. And it plays better than any other FPS. You can't fault the online because of how people play it. I have great teammates when I party up so unless I'm joining rooms by myself, I don't have any problems.

Bad Company, on the other hand, is a mess of a game. Unresponsive controls, TERRIBLE hit detection (sorry, but it shouldn't take half a clip to bring someone down) and only one shoddy game mode severely hurt BC from being anywhere near as good as COD 4. I can only guess you're not very good at it so you'll jump on the first thing that comes along that challenges COD. BC will be a barren wasteland in 2 months time. Guaranteed.

Meh Resistance two is going to be here in about four months. COD 6 probably will not make it until some time in mid to late 09. I will say this Infinity Ward messed up the PS3 port because for a long time it was not possible to add players you met in online games via the PS3 interface. So really all of this glowing praise of Infinity Ward is unwarranted.

As of this moment its just Super Stardust HD that supports trophies. More are supposed to be coming soon including Warhawk, Pain, PJEden, Burnout Paradise, and more. SSHD is worth getting though.

Don't forget, Ratchet and Clank came out in late October 2007, about 2 weeks before COD4, and it had Dualshock 3 support. I agree IW are incredibly lazy and it pisses me off too. COD4 is a great game that sold over 10 million copies, so you would think that would be more supportive of it.

If this was happening on XBL People would be calling xbox to the point where MS would have to jump in and say hey what can we do to help with this.. This IS why the only game I play on the PS3 is Pain.. This just shows that Sony did not give the Devs time to make the changes for this update.. they just threw it togehter and said look what we got.. and has it looks No Companys was ready for it...

Fair enough that Sony should have had rumble and trophies much earlier but how difficult is to to implement it?

COD4 would have been perfect for trophies with the 1, 2, and 3 stages of the online challenges to represent the bronze, silver and gold trophies and finally a platinum on for when you fully complete the different challenges like elite, beginner etc.

It's only Single Player Achievements on the 360 version, and I would be surprised if half of my friends even know that CoD4 has a singleplayer.

So much for CoD4 being "superior" on the PS3.

Rumble doesn't exactly replicate firing a gun, however it's a nice touch to unloading a clip into someone, you get the sensation or idea of the gun firing, which is better than nothing, and to me it feels odd to fire a gun and the pad not rumble.

To the Devs not currently patching games, Me thinks yee may not garner sales you otherwise would.

Disappointing from Naughty Dog and Insomniac in particular. I expected more. Sure they are old games but come on. How long does it take to code in a few trophies? I dont really expect much from IW's after sales service, but these two devs in particular i thought would be on the ball. Im picking up BO: P when the rumoured trophy patch hits., Will probably get Motorstorm again (traded it in) if they have trophies.

Let's look at the timeline:

- 360 Comes out with Achievements and 360 owners love them.
- PS3 Comes out and PS3 owners think the Achievement system is stupid
- Sony announces Trophies and all of a sudden Achievements and Trophies are the bees knees.
- Infinity Ward is BUSY working on other projects so they canned Trophies and Rumble on COD4 and PS3 owners accuse them of being lazy.

Don't you guys realize that in order for them to add Rumble and Trophies they have to go back in and add several lines of CODE to COD4. They are working on other projects and don't have the manpower or the time to go BACK and start editing COD4 code. The game was a success. It's the perfect FPS shooter and the sales and online play prove it. Why spend time and money to go back and FIX a game because Sony decided to add Trophies and Rumble a year and a half after the launch of their system? That's not laziness, that's smart business sense. Sony screwed over the gamers by not securing Rumble and having a Trophy system at launch. IW shouldn't have to pay for that mistake. Sony themselves said rumble was last generation. So why should IW bend over backwards to add it? A lot of PS3 owners didn't even care that the rumble was missing so what's the big deal?

I understand IW not wanting to add trophies but the rumble development kit WAS available before COD4 shipped. Ratchet and Clank shipped with rumble included in it 2-3 weeks before COD4 even hit shelves. They could have added rumble a long time ago, but they choose not to. What is their excuse then? We are working on the map pack which will increase our revenue instead of adding rumble which doesn't make us money? Come on. IW is lazy. It is the most played game online and they don't even release new patches to fix the connection problems, bugs, hacks etc.

Are you kidding me? You're thinking that adding rumble support to a game is going to take tens of thousands of lines of code? Seriously. COD4 is, without a doubt, a great game both offline and online. The fact still stands, though, that they are lazy developers. Not to incorporate rumble almost a YEAR into the game's life cycle is pretty sad. People can argue all they want and say "But they're working on other games..." ... yea and so was NaughtyDog when they released a RUMBLE PATCH for Uncharted.

They _decide_ not to fix network issues that currently affect COD4 now and you're going to say that they're not lazy? Both 360 and PS3 owners have endured ridiculous lobby-based and network-based issues on COD4. Infinity Ward - our of loyalty for customer support - could at least address these issues... something that is taking more than a year to fix.

That drive to get trophies could have been the tipping point on future sales. I hope that BF:BC decides to implement the trophies to show IW what they missed out on.

i really hate how the PS3 has almost been treated as "the red headed step-child" of the consoles...regardless of whether or not these features should have been included at the launch of the console, bottom line is they werent and the consumers still went and bought these P.O.S games knowing they were short changed with features compared to the other consoles....these companies should at least show some sort of appreciation to their consumers and meet their requests, especially if the intend on keeping these loyal customers in hopes for higher sales on their next release...sighhh

It is not IW fault that these TROPHIES and RUMBLE just came! Its your DEAR SONY.

And not only bring these things late to the party.....they have not made these features A MUST for their software!!!!! Thats really stupid of SONY. I mean M$ has a rule or requirement that EVERY developer puts in ACHIEVEMENTS and RUMBLE in their game! ITS A MUST.

SONY MUST HAVE DONE the same thing. DO NOT make it an OPTION for the FREAKING Developers!!!!!!! Make it a MUST. Even the FREAKING CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS are CUSTOM! (SOUNDS LIKE LAST-GEN XBOX SYSTEM) and m$ learned from that, so they implemented into their system this time, so DEVs dont have an option for CUSTOM soundtrack, it just DOES IT FOR THEM. I just traded this game how funny. I had it sense launch its great but I enjoy BBC so much more. I would submit to all of you that one reason I traded my 360 for a PS3 is I found myself playing games just to get the achievments and wasn't having much fun anymore playing games just to play them. There always something better if you keep looking you just need to be happy with what u have at some point.

Saying that patching the game will not increase sales is wrong. With the lack of trophies available and the abundance of gamers that want trophies, for alot of them they might think twice about buying a game now that they wouldn't have before because it has trophies.
This of course wouldn't 100% shell over profit if every company back dated the support in. Thanks to infinity ward and insomniac, companies like Criterion will make a killing.
If you don;t believe me wait until the sales figures for sshd comes out. There will be a significant sales jump, and its not because people decided the gameplay or graphics were any better than before. The Criterion sales figures will also experience similar increases. In a way infinity ward are digging there own coffin.
The ps3 is the only console remaining which doesn't suffer from piracy. Not backing the company or the online gamers 100% of which actually bought the game will only have a negative impact in the future.
