Yup, GTA V details...awesome!

But is the dang online fixed??

GarrusVakarian3477d ago

The latest update fixed the online for me, which was already much better compared to than the launch of the last-gen versions. I regularly get put into lobbies with 20+ people and no longer get timed out or lose connection to Rockstar's servers.

That's all purely anecdotal, but yeah.

JudgmentJay3477d ago

For some yes, but not for everyone. I for instance have to wait for a GOOD while everytime I leave a job to join freemode + disconnection errors now and then. Guessing it'll get better with time though

Dyldog693477d ago

Let me guess, cuz you're playing it on Xbox done?

JudgmentJay3477d ago

@Dyldog69 Naw, I'm playing on my ps4.

I don't think which console ur playing on affects how shitty the rockstar servers can be

XboxOneX3477d ago

I have had 0 issues with GTA V online since I started playing on XBOX ONE. I do not know what issues are going on with the other consoles but my experience has been flawless. :)

DARK WITNESS3477d ago

I have played it on both systems and not had any trouble with either.

SonyWarrior3476d ago

i played it on xbone and i cant stay connected to the server keeps disconnecting me.. then........ it bricked my xbone. I'm now bought it for ps4 and so far it has been very very good no problems

I am not amused (in the voice of JP)

I will say that in this video... They need to make sure the PS4 and the TV are both set to RGB Full or both set to RGB Limited. On Samsung TV's RGB settings are known as HDMI Black Level Normal (Full), Low (Limited).

If you have the PS4 set to Full and the TV set to limited... you will get crushed blacks. If you have the PS4 set to limited and the TV set to Full you will get a washed out look. User's need to make sure the system and TV are set the same on any console they have (if it has these options). Also be warned that setting these settings to automatic on PS4 may be recommended but not always does the system and the TV correctly communicate. It's honestly best to manually set the PS4 to match your TV's setting.

I actually thought I had mine setup correctly until I figured out that HDMI Black Level was the setting for RGB and not one of the other settings I had. I had my PS4 set to automatic and my TV was on low... Turns out my PS4/TV weren't communicating correctly (I have Samsung un55f8000bf which was Samsung's top of the line last year). Now I made sure my PS4 is set to RGB Full (not automatic) and my TV's settings are set as HDMI Black Level: Normal.

UltraNova3476d ago (Edited 3476d ago )

Are you sure that the TVs "Black Level" setting is the RGB equivalent on the PS4?

I think my LG's Black Level settings are only High and Low, no normal if memory serves well...

When selecting high everything becomes washed up, but when in low blacks and contrast in general appear deeper, gone is that washed up effect but I cant help to notice the slightly crashed blacks (when my ps4 was set up at full RGB).

Any thoughts?

I wish someone would take the time and make an educated article on optimal calibrations for various TV/console variations...

mmcglasson3476d ago (Edited 3476d ago )

I'm sure of it on Samsung TVs... You want to make sure your PS4 is set to Full and your TV is set to High/Normal/Full. Or you want to make sure your PS4 is set to limited and your tv is set to Low/Limited.

I'm not 100% sure about LG TVs but I'd say yes, unless you have a RGB mode that allows you to set it to Full/Limited.

Keep in mind things will look slightly brighter and not as dark... but that's because you had crushed blacks... This is when you adjust your other settings on your TV like color, contrast, and brightness, etc... Also, I'd adjust the brightness of your TV and then check the brightness of your ingame settings. I'd try it on a few games... and get your TV set so that you don't need to really adjust the brightness setting using in-game brightness settings. Of course each game will be different but a good baseline would be best. The way I had it setup up before was because I initially did think everything looked washed out and everything looked better when it was set as full on PS4 in low on TV. However, I realized that I actually was getting crushed blacks and I wasn't actually seeing the game as I was meant to see it. I then adjust the brightness (which resolved a majority of my issues). I then adjusted the colors/contrast to make it look just as vibrant. Now I can see much color details between lighter blacks/shadows rather than everything just being black when it's supposed to be just darker.

Sony TV (XBR4 2008/2009 TV I bought) uses RGB full/limited as it's settings. I've only owned Samsung and Sony.

Off Topic: I wish I would have waited until the new Sony 4k TVs came out because they brought back a lot of the features my XBR4 had like local dimming and some newer technology. The only thing I still think they didn't bring back is true backlight display... I think almost all LEDs use sidelight (even though on high end TVs there is no bleed in lighting from the sides). True backlight TVs are the best (but more expensive and pretty much not needed anymore from what I see/understand).

Despite the extraordinary unbelievable details , one of my favorite updates in the nextgen version is the improved handling, all vehicles now have a sense of weight, Dat delicious gta trademark suspension feel that, now cars have that "concentrated" feel like in gta iv

Last Gen version vehicles felt a bit like paper

masso91123477d ago

They felt like they were sliding in the air or something, it made it really hard for me to drive

MysticStrummer3477d ago (Edited 3477d ago )

Interesting. I haven't noticed that yet but I'll pay more attention. I don't like how driving feels in 1st person though. In fact I don't like 1st person view much in general, except that it's cool to wander the streets sometimes and just watch things happen. I never use that view when I have something to do, despite telling myself that I'll play the entire story in 1st person. I just don't like it for some reason. Definitely enjoying seeing the overall visual improvements though. An already great looking world made more so.

inmusicutrust3477d ago

Have you tried tweaking the settings? I know putting the FOV all the way to the right helped for me. There's a few other things that help too.

GarrusVakarian3477d ago

They feel exactly the same to me.

Are you playing on PS4? The increased stick resistance of the DS4 might be why you find the handling of vehicles to be heavier.

RG_Dubz3477d ago (Edited 3477d ago )

It is the exact same, these guys were just told it was changed recently before the game released on Current-Gen consoles and in their "follow the crowd" minds it has..

I played GTA V on the PS3 the day before the PS4 version came out, I can guarantee that the driving is the exact same.

ape0073477d ago (Edited 3477d ago )

Lukas and RG

guys believe me, im a hardcore GTA FANBOY(im even a huge fan of R* north's past games like body harvest on N64)

plus this quote from hardcore gamer review

"On the driving side of things, vehicle handling has been updated, with vehicles feeling better than ever before. While this is still the sort of game that lets you bounce around after landing a jump, handling feels more realistic and tailored to specific vehicles, instead of cars simply being “fast” or “slow.” Even supercars feel distinct from one another. Realism has also been visually improved, with cars mirroring their real-life counterparts like never before. It’s clear what’s a Mustang or what’s an Audi and even though the brands can’t be used, it’s better than simply looking for a “fast” car"

Elwenil3477d ago

Agreed, playing in first person is a bit like putting blinders on in real life. You have suddenly lost all your peripheral vision and that tends to make me a bit paranoid. I haven't messed with it any so maybe opening up the FoV might make it better, but so far I find it cool to mess around with but any mission I am doing, I will use third person view except for a few driving instances in big trucks where first person actually makes it easier. Just my .02

GarrusVakarian3477d ago

There's an FoV slider for first-person, but there isn't one for vehicles. I really hope Rockstar fix that. Driving in cars/trucks in cock-pit view feels way too claustrophobic.

Me-Time3477d ago (Edited 3477d ago )

Please be true. I missed GTA IV physics and thought R* stated they improved driving physics to feel more like a racing game. I realized they meant more like an arcade game when realized right away that there's the annoying traction control. It's not as exciting at all. Way too sensitive too, the handling.

RG_Dubz3477d ago

GTA IV had the worst driving, every vehicle in the game drives like a station wagon, it was really pathetic.

Only thing GTA IV got right with the driving was the motorcycles physics.

Not defending the "Saints Row the 3rd" driving being in GTA V, just saying GTA IV's driving was trash, the arcade driving was definitely an improvement over the station wagon handling of GTA IV.. Although I would prefer it more if it had simulation driving physics myself, GTA IV was FAR from simulation, unless you were actually driving a station wagon. lol

ape0073477d ago (Edited 3477d ago )

Me-Time, look at my reply to lukas above, I'll find a quote from, a review that state this, driving definatley feel much better than theps3/360 version, cars have that tasty old gta feel much more than the last gen version, the last gen version felt blocky, one dimensional, don't get me wrong it was awesome but this is so much better

@Dubs, gta iv driving was legendary albeit a bit heavy and slidy, saying the driving was pathatic make u look like a casual gamer who don't want to challenge himself to get the real taste of things

Perjoss3476d ago

GTA IV driving was awesome, it felt challenging, driving at high speed for extended periods with no crashes felt incredibly rewarding.

mmcglasson3477d ago

Still feels pretty close to the same... I miss the GTA 4's handling. I mean they could have tuned it down to be a little more responsive but I will say GTA 5 is a drastic change towards arcade driving.

psplova3477d ago

That's all good and well but why haven't they incorporated the idea of needing to make sure youre car has gas in it TO OPERATE I wonder.. I mean, it only makes sense. They have gas stations. They have the working gas gauge. How f'd up would it be to run out of gas in the middle of a high speed getaway!?!? Should have gassed up bruh! lol

MysticStrummer3477d ago

Yeah I wouldn't mind that. It doesn't have to be a tedious thing, which is probably the main knock against it. The cars could get different mileage, but even the real gas guzzlers could require only a little time to refill every once in awhile.

psplova3477d ago

Exactly. I'd say most of the cars you 'borrow' would have a half tank or more, but there would be times when it might be on E. I think it would be interesting to see certain gas stations allowing you to pump before you pay whilst others may need you to prepay before you can use the pump as to avoid any gas n go's.. lol

MysticStrummer3477d ago

Ha yeah well a 2 or 3 star chase from a gas n go would fit right into the game, but how many LS area gas stations would allow anyone to pump gas before paying?

Lazyeye793477d ago

It would be nice to have that as like a hardcore option.

psplova3477d ago (Edited 3477d ago )

@MysticStrummer - not many, just in the 'ritzier' areas of the map, maybe..
; )

Hroach6163477d ago

Yeah I really agree. That would usualy be a major pain in the ass 9 times out of 10. But to have it as a hardcore option would be pretty epic if you really feel ballsy lol

Elwenil3477d ago

I remember this came up as a rumor before the game released on last gen systems. A lot of people were against it, but I thought it would be a really cool option. It could have been an added thing to prepare for when doing heists or other missions and could be a real game changer online. I know it wouldn't be for everyone, but I wouldn't mind a few more simulation type additions to GTA to make it more interesting. I think making them optional would be a great idea to let people pick and choose to fine tune what level of realism or arcade style play they want. Maybe some modder will do it for PC?

The_Kills3477d ago

I'd rather they'd obsess over heists.

lildudexst3477d ago

It not a remaster at all it same game with way more stuff.

Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) Best Settings for Low End PC: RTX 3060/RX 6600/RTX 4060 Laptop GPU

Grand Theft Auto V was released over 9 years ago, but the player base is largely intact due to regular updates to the Online Multiplayer. The game had some technical issues at launch, most notably a CPU utilization issue, but most recent chips shouldn’t have any issues running it.

i think the only real loss is GTAV

OtterX9d ago

I think everyone and their sister owns the game by now. They likely want to squeeze the rest of the holdouts before GTAVI releases.

Profchaos9d ago

That game comes and goes from subscriptions so frequently I think it's expected now. Like rdr2 on gamepass Rockstar Games only last a max of 3 months On a service

MrBaskerville9d ago

Talos Principle is the real loss.

BanginTunes9d ago

Facts that game is good as fuck I'm playing through 2 now, very underrated

Huey_My_D_Long9d ago

indivisible was pretty neat. Cute artstyle, fun throwback to older RPGs, shame its leaving but it is on sale often

shinoff21839d ago

Definitely. I e joyed what I played of it. Still gotta grab the physical at some point

Petebloodyonion9d ago

I'm not surprised by GTA V removal, Rockstar never allows this game to stay long on a subscription service.
They usually allow 4 to 6 months.

lodossrage9d ago

Yeah, they do that routinely with both GTA and Red Dead.

But it's because they know they can still sell them so they take them off and on to these sub services in cycle.

The weird thing to me is why is anyone still buying those games at this point? You would think after 3 generations of being sold GTA 5 that everyone and their momma would have it by now

RNTody9d ago

I fail to see how the loss of an almost 11 year old game that released across 3 generations is in any way a problem.
