Impressive visuals in ‘The Witcher 3′ shows the graphical evolution of the Witcher series

From the article: "The Witcher 3 is one of those games that we can’t wait for. Expected to be 30 times larger than any previous Witcher title, the game sports an open world that is bigger than any modern RPG including Skyrim. The Witcher 3 is also making its debut on the PlayStation platform previously only being available on Windows PC and Xbox 360. The game is a welcome addition to PS4 fans that previously missed out on the Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings that was exclusive to the Microsoft console."

And because CD Projekt are talented, not only does the graphics improve from one episode to the next, but the overall quality of the games as well. Some studios should take notes.

snipermk03571d ago

True. That's the pedigree of a PC developer. I just hope they don't go the way of Crytek.

Roccetarius3570d ago

Yeah, that's what i'm afraid of as well, but i'm fairly sure they won't. Crytek made a big mistake by going console.

Lon3wolf3570d ago

The difference between CD and Crytek is that CD know how to make an engine and great game, Crytek are fantastic at making engines but not the actual games.

TI_213570d ago

Haven't played any Crysis game, but wasn't the major outcry about Crysis 2 that they didn't improve the graphics over Crysis 1, while the campaign itself was good enough?

mcarsehat3570d ago

TI_21

Yes, i heard the same complaints..

Gamers are fickle, there have been complaints about The Witcher 3 not being 1080p 60fps on consoles for the last day and a half on N4G. Now there are impressive visuals anyway.

They're not on ND level. They wish they could get this game to look like uc4.

Ps4 is the future, the future is ps4.
It has been written

This will be my first time playing The Witcher (when I get it on PS4). I've been following the development of this game for a little while now. Very excited! I only hear great things from people who've played the other two in the series.

PaulFiend3570d ago

I never liked Witcher 1 and 2, but this 35 min. video of 3rd part blew me away, can't wait to play it on my PS4!

aliengmr3570d ago

You didn't like the first 2 at all? And you are expecting 'what' to change?

Don't get me wrong, its completely fine that you don't like the Witcher series thus far, but I really doubt you are going to like the third.

Aside from it being open world, not much has changed. It looks better, and there are tweaks here and there, but its all essentially the same.

My advice would be to wait and hear what the consensus is among those who didn't like the first two.

PaulFiend3568d ago

I just like what I see in this 35 min. video: Witcher himself looks much better imo, I like dialogs, characters, combat looks better (I guess there are new moves or animations, it just looks improved), open world is a nice addition too.
Overall, I have that nice and warm feeling that CD Project RED is making a game that I really want to play, that just suits me well.

I'm not saying 1st & 2nd were bad, don't get me wrong. I just like how the series evolved to my liking.
(Sorry for my bad English) :(

Truehellfire3570d ago

The Witcher 3 is my most anticipated title right now, but this article kind of sucked. They barely compared 1 image from each game. Plus the author described the combat as being similar to Skyrim.

PersonMan3570d ago

Never understood what's so great about it's visuals. In my opinion, there are much better looking games. It still looks like it's using "last-gen" technology. It just reminds me of a last-gen PC game.

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan57d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave57d ago (Edited 57d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.

Infinite but not the first two games? Witcher 3 but not the first two games?? GTA V but not literally any of the games before it??? Portal 2 but not the first? Also if you're going to play Shadow of The Colossus play the remaster and not the remake. Can't say I disagree with the list but my man it's all over the place.

Name Last Name81d ago

I mean some sequels are objectively better and you don’t need to play the whole series.

Inverno81d ago

But most of these games have a story to follow, sure you can catch up with a YouTube vid but where's the fun in that?

LucasRuinedChildhood81d ago (Edited 81d ago )

A list like this isn't telling you not to play the previous games if you want to. It's just giving you legendary games to play.

But tbh, you don't always have to force yourself to play every entry in a franchise to get to the better ones.

- The vast majority of Witcher 3 players never played the first 2 and had a great time. The first 2 games aren't in the same league.
- The GTA games are self-contained with the odd fun reference. You can easily jump into any of them.
- The Shadow Of The Colossus remake looks and controls better than the original (plus it has a 60fps option while the remaster is just 30fps). New players will enjoy it more.
- Portal 2 is a lot better than Portal 1 and takes the concept much further gameplay-wise. Storywise, Portal 1 is fairly light too. Not that you shouldn't play it but realistically ... you'd love Portal 2 whether you play it or not (at lot of Portal 2 players have never played 1).

Bioshock 1 is the only one I agree with you on simply because it's one the best games of all time and arguably better than Infinite. No other setting like Rapture.

Looking at the list, I'd recommend playing Uncharted 1 before 2 but no doubt, 2 is the legendary one you have to play.

Inverno81d ago

I get it, but that's just my opinion on his opinion. I just think that before you play a sequel you should still play what came before it. Maybe it's just me but i find it fascinating playing through the first game in a series and seeing how it has evolved through its sequels. Like I said I don't disagree with the list, other than SoTC which I strongly believe the remaster of the original should be played above the remake.

AuraAbjure80d ago

Awesome list! Hot take on Fear (and it's hard af expansion Persaus Mandate!) Bioshock Infinite is stellar, so is the Witcher 3 and you nailed it by having Ocarina of Time. So many fantastic games! Gotta play 'em all! Next one on my list is Prey after I beat Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.
