Six Games That Deserve a Next-Gen Update

Which previous-generation titles could do with a graphical spit-and-polish, or could make use of beefier hardware, or would just be great to experience again on a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Wii U? GameSpot's editors outline their favorite choices below.

I would rather developers focused on newer experiences. I don't like being sold something on my PS4 that I already got on my PS3 within the past five years. Yes, the visuals will look better, but is that worth the price of admission? Maybe if they let me trade in the old one and buy it for $10. Either way, I'm happy with the experience on my PS3. Give me the cool new stuff! :)

edit: That all said, some people may have missed out on those experiences and may find a good opportunity to try it now. I'm just speaking from my own experience lol

I agree. want new IPs not remakes of game Ive already beaten. If devs want to make sequels that's fine, but remakes, no thank you.

thorstein3718d ago

Are you sure? I know I have been waiting for a Custer's Revenge remake for years! That, or an E.T. remake.

Who wants new IPs with new characters and innovation? Give me the same old stale story and cliched characters.

I think we may have agreed on this before. If not randomass we share the same viewpoint.

It is like the trend for remaking films. These devs clearly have big imaginations. Let them run wild and provide us with fresh experiences.

Having said all that I would love the original Infamous entirely redone in the Second Son engine.

And I would much rather just have Fallout 4.

I agree. Next gen sequels are better than rereleases. Tomb Raider for example was definitely not worth $60 all over again. I'm happy I only paid 29.99 for it during the psn flash sale.

What's even more ridiculous is the restriction the author put on his list. Seriously, all the games are from PS3 and 360?

Why not something that defined its genre for its time that we've not had something quite like it in some time, or aren't expecting soon? A classic RPG like FF7, Breath of Fire, a completely revamped and true Tekken like the 3rd and Tekken Tag, fresh revamp of Guitar Hero/Rockband, Super Mario World, a fresh Zelda game, Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, Tony Hawk's Underground, etcetera.

Titanfall deserves a next gen update!

_FantasmA_3718d ago (Edited 3718d ago )

Not yet. Wait until there are 9 more yearly sequels before they add bots that move when you get near them and robot canines.

And this a terrible list. Most of those games just came out. I'd rather have the next Fallout and not a layer of point over old animations and mechanics.

maniacmayhem3718d ago

Yea, I'm going to have t agree with the above. I would rather have sequels to these games not some HD update.

A new Fallout is what I have been craving for the longest I would be very disappointed if they gave me 3 or New Vegas with better graphics.

troylazlow3718d ago

How about we just concentrate on new games and new IP's? I'm not going to spend my money on a nicer looking game I already own.

MeLoveRamen3718d ago

The only ones that i agree with are The last of us, dark souls 2 and gta5, all the other ones are too old.

The Status of Every PlayStation Franchise
