Next Car Game and the Perils of Early Access

Despite its age, Flatout: Ultimate Carnage is still one of our go-to games for some ludicrous lunchtime fun. Bugbear Entertainment’s crash-em-up from 2007 has stood the test of time, but yesterday we decided to try out their all-new spiritual successor to the Flatout series, Next Car Game. The Finnish studio may no longer have the rights to the Flatout name, but it’s clear that the franchise in which they forged their reputation is still at the centre of everything they do.

In this video we showcase Next Car Game‘s latest update, the intriguing funding record and eventual success via Steam’s Early Access program. We also weigh up the positives and negatives of gaining access to games still very much in development.
