The PS4 already has a waiting list of 2.3 million just for gamestop alone and it's bound to be sold out until 2015.
Now if you add the 7 million people that'll buy the PS4 just for GT7, you won't be able to keep up with the demand. You'll break the factories, they'll be shortages of PS4 for years to come because of GT7.
I would wait until summer 2015.

So it taken PD over 5 years to develop Gran Turismo 5, now they seem to be pushing 2 out in 2 years. Hope this isn't a Call of Duty trend. Would have quality over quantity any day. However, PS4 Gran Turismo would be unbelievable. Extremely excited for that day.

@Anarki - the reason GT5 took so long to come out was due to the architecture of the PS3. They basically had to rework everything to optimize their results. Given the PS4 architecture is based on 'off the shelf' parts it shouldn't be as hard to develop.

@Phaze. Premium cars are there for gamers, standard cars for those who like to race with their own cars. Japanese folks seem to like that.

All I need is a couple of hundred cars, 300-400 is enough. If the rest of the 1000-1200 is standard, I don't care, I hope the real life owners have fun with them, I do not need to use them. Same as with GT5, the Premiums are enough for me.

On topic: best news of the week, work on GT7 is on it's way:) Even if we only get a Prologue version next year, I'll buy it. Untill then, Gran Turismo 6. And DriveClub. And hopefully Project Cars.

PS3 was really hard to work on. GT5 came out when it was not even finished yet. It took them a shitload of patches and fixes to make the game work the way it should have worked. I think GT6 will be the game GT5 should have been.

Talking about GT7, well, it could be ready for 2014 if what we want is something like Forza Motorsport 5, basically more of the same. If we really want something we can call next gen we have to wait at least until 2015.

I think people underestimate the ease of development on the ps4 compared to previous gens.

i believe Sony stated what would take 6 months to develop on the ps3, the ps4 could achieve in 2.

hell Warframe took only 3 moths to develop for the ps4 and that is a complete free to play game. it's incredible really.

Um yeah that's not happening. No way can they do that in so little time. Don't it take a month just to make one good detailed car. If they making the team bigger they might can do a 2015 release. No need to rush like Forza.

Needs WAY more than that! Better AI would be a good start. Proper car damage would be another. Elminate useless off the lot economy cars and only stick to the sports and high performance cars. Include a much higher level of customization. Give the cars a better sense of speed, etc.

History starts to repeat itself I think,at least just how similar the time to triangle of PS4 compared to PS1.
I mean PD managed to released a behemoth of a racing game on PS1,Gran Turismo 2 with 500 cars and 20+ tracks in less than 2 years!

Why? You actually enjoy puttering around those tracks at a snail's pace in a Ford Focus? Where is the fun in that?? At no time did I compare anything with NFS. My point is that out of all the cars GT offers, many of them are completely pointless and a waste of time! Why in the hell would I care about virtual driving a Chrysler Town and Country or a Toyota Camry? To me the fun in racing games is to be able to get behind the wheel of the "unattainable." To drive the cars that in many cases I've never even SEEN in real life, let alone driven! Why would I care about virtual cars that I can actually afford in real life? At least start the game off using the sportier models like Mustangs, Corvettes, etc. I have absolutely no desire to crawl around Nuremberg in a Chevy Tahoe.

GT5 announced in 2005 for PS3, and shipped in 2010...

GT7 announced in 2013, ship date unknown...

Seriously... Sony does this way too much... Last Guardian delayed, Drive Club delayed, Last of us was delayed, Killzone 2 was delayed, God of War III delayed, Heavy Rain delayed, LBP was delayed, Lair was delayed, etc...

It is an exception when Sony puts out one of their "AAA" titles on schedule. Before you disagree do a google search for every title and put "delay PS3" in the search as well. You may have to dig through the searches but all the mentioned games were delayed.

Also, Sony outright lies about title ship dates even when they are not exclusive. Look at the launch of PS4... 30+ titles were announced for launch back at E3... 22 shipped. Fanboys were talking about how Sony had so much more, it turns out they shipped one more title more than X1's launch tomorrow.

I am not saying this is all bad. What I do want is for everyone to wake up and realize that Sony and MS are just as bad they can get away with.

And before fanboys jump on me about polish, I agree a game should not ship until it is ready, I just wish Sony wouldn't state a release date until they know they can make it. And I ask why does every Sony AAA exclusive almost always need more polish. And finally, when we see delays like Last Guardian is experiencing, let's be honest, the trailers were tech demos not a running game otherwise it would've shipped by now.

The game engine programmers have probably been working steady on it since GT5. I'm guessing most car models just get transferred over. There's really not much more that can be improved on those aside from post processing effects.
